The fourth edition of the Blog Monthly is here – written by Lil, fresh off the printing press

Hiya, everyone!! Welcome back to the Blog Monthly – I know it’s been a bit but we are back!! I’ll be covering all the news from June til now in this edition! I’m so excited to be back and writing again for all of you lovely readers – thanks for being patient while I pulled it together!

Summer is here! And while summer spirit doesn’t have the same ring as it does in winter, I still think it’s pretty cool 😉 Let’s go through everything that’s happened so far this summer to help with that spirit….

NEW FEATURES

In May Goldenfawn released some information about new things! This included a new Code of Conduct – something that covers what is expected of members and BlogTeam. It also had a Feedback Form so that you can give us some suggestions and ideas! This stuff can be found linked throughout the Blog – if you are having trouble finding any of it just let us know and we will be happy to help! You can find the announcement with all of this information here!

NEW PAGES

The Blog is so much bigger now! There are a whole three more pages to explore! For your convenience we’ve placed them all right next to eachother at the bottom of the “Need Company” tab! Stop number one in your exploring will be the Sunning Patch ! We realized we haven’t really had a true space to talk about what brought us all together – Warriors – so here it is! This is the space for headcanons, favorite characters, and anything else! Next on the list will be The Elder’s Den! This is a corner of the Blog for discussing Warrior’s a little more in depth – topics here might be more serious! It is discussion based, so if you like asking hard questions (or answering them) it is the spot for you! The last spot on this week’s journey is the Training Hollow! The hollow is a spot for academics – more specifically getting help with them! If you have a math question you don’t understand, or want to learn a new language, or have no idea what a contraction is, pop in there! If you do understand those things, feel free to help explain them to people! We hope you have fun exploring these pages and finding one that suits you!

ELECTIONS

As I am sure you all know – the Blog is all abuzz right now with talk about the Elections! They are going on from now til July 14th – right now we are all waiting on results of the first round of elections – you can vote for three people for Deputy or Medicine Cat and the top three will move into the next round! This week we’ve had four different Husting posts where each candidate has been introduced and answered all of your questions! It wrapped up with the Election Commentary! The candidates for Deputy were Shadeleap, Silverdusk, Hollymist, Flamespirit, Flakepatch, Falconstorm, Adderdragon, Nightwind, Bluebat, and Amberleaf! I wish them all the luck and if you haven’t voted yet, I encourage you to do so! The candidates for Medicine Cat are  Solarflare, Tinyfrost, Eggsnake, Willowstripe, Tansybranch, Mountainstorm, Bloodmoon, Brambleheart, Wisteriacrow, Frogstorm, and Silverkit! I am sending all the good vibes their way and if you haven’t voted for them, I encourage you to do so! I am so proud of all of you for putting yourselves out there! I am so grateful all of you love this place so much, and I am sure that each of you – no matter the results – will make it brighter 😀

APPRENTICE ARMY

While the main Blog has their elections, there’s some more going on! The Apprentice Army is hosting their annual elections at the moment! You can run for Medicine Cat or Leader, and you can also be nominated for Mediator! If you are interested in running just lead a little campaign on this page! Voting will begin on July 14th and end on the 20th! Good luck to all of you who run! And, just as a little reminder, if you are an apprentice all you have to do is pop onto the page and you are welcome to join in – no need to ask 😉

COMING UP

• Election results will be coming out midway through July – I’ll go over those as well in our next edition!
• Apprentice Army election results will be coming out at the end of July and those will be gone over as well!
• After the Apprentice Army elections are over, planning will begin for the annual Move Up Day! This is a day of fun and chatter and BlogChat will be open! If you are changing ranks (kit to apprentice, apprentice to warrior, warrior to elder) let us know on this page and we will make sure to celebrate you!!

Wow! That was a lot! Thanks for reading through it all! I hope you are as delighted about everything that has happened this past month, and as excited for the future as I am!! BLOSSOMTAIL

When I saw the requirements said it must be under 500 words and I could write a fanfiction, I decided to challenge myself to write a short story. I may eventually make this into a novel someday! It is about a young medicine apprentice who sacrificed her own feature for someone she loved. However he fell for someone else and she is destined to be alone. Afterall, medicine cats are not allowed to have mates.

Sparrowpaw took a moment to look up at the moon shining above her. The blue eyes of the medicine cat’s apprentice glistened underneath the stars. “If only I could have become a warrior,” she sighed. However, this was her destiny. The power to change that was not in her paws. “If only I hadn’t been in that accident, however, it was my own fault. I am a foolish mouse-brain.” Sparrowpaw glanced down momentarily. As she felt a tear drift down her fur, she noticed the ghost of her father standing before her.
“Don’t blame yourself. You sacrificed your own future for your friend. You saved his life” Lionsong comforted. The memories of that tragic day came flooding back in Sparrowpaw’s mind. The moment she shrieked Hawkpaw’s name when she leapt to push him out of the way. The rocks on the thunder path scraped her paws as she landed moments before the lights of the monster blinded her eyes.
“Hawkpaw was more to me than a friend,” she muttered under her breath.
“Sometimes we get frustrated when we cannot see our own path, but the stars above us can. Have faith in them and soon you will see how prosperous your future will become,” her father meowed before fading out of view. Sparrowpaw thought about his words. Perhaps one day she would become the medicine cat she was destined to. Afterall, ever since she was a kit she was able to communicate with Starclan through her dreams in a way that no one else could. Perhaps, she was overthinking it all. Sparrowpaw was not quite sure, yet she knew that she wished to make the best of the life she was given.
“One day, I promise to serve as the noblest medicine cat ever known to Snowclan and on that very day Hawkpaw will finally notice me for who I truly am,” she vowed underneath the starlit sky. Sparrowpaw heard the thud of another cat’s paw steps approaching. She didn’t know anyone else knew about this spot. It was her own secret. She turned around to see a light gray tabby cat. It was Hawkpaw.
“Hey,” Hawkpaw greeted as he sat down beside her. In response, Sparrowpaw flicked her tail as if to say hello. “I came out here to think, I didn’t know you would be here,” he said.
“What did you need to think about?” she asked curiously.
“Falconpaw agreed to be my mate. I’m scared I might do something to mess up our relationship,” Hawkpaw replied. Sparrowpaw’s heart sank. The love of her life fell for someone else. However, she was going to become a medicine cat anyway. She would not be permitted to have a mate. Sparrowpaw was destined to be alone.

Finally, Tigerclaw was originally going to be named Hammerclaw. When someone pointed out that cats don’t know what hammers are, Tiger was chosen as a fierce, not-to-friendly sounding name.
