Elections, Day 11: Commentary, Part II!

Apologies for the delay on this one, folks, but I hope it’s not too late to talk about the last few days of the election!

Welcome officially to the second round of commentary for our 2023 elections – can you believe it’s almost time to welcome in our new Deputy and Medicine Cat? It’s now your chance to pick from the top three candidates for each position!

If you missed Goldi’s post outlining the final round of voting, you can find it here! It should tell you everything you need to know about how the end of this election is going to work. But feel free, if you have questions, to ask them here or there!

This is (if my math is correct), either my fourth or fifth election cycle – can anyone tell me if there were elections in 2015? Regardless, elections tend to catch me off guard every single time they come around, and I sit here always at my desk thinking “wow, it’s been 2 years already?” I suppose that’s where the old adage – time flies when you’re having fun – kicks in! But despite my initial shock, I’m always pumped for elections. I truly think it’s one of the best representations of our community. We’ve joked, committed arson, and supported each other – what’s not to love?

We’ve had such a vibrant and enthusiastic election cycle this year. I want to thank all the candidates for putting themselves out there – it can be scary to take a risk and run, so even if you didn’t make it through to this round, I want to commend you for your passion for the community and bravery to take initiative! You’re still a valued member of the community!

To Frogstorm, Eggsnake, and Mountainstorm, best of luck with the Medicine Cat elections! You are all wonderfully kind, thoughtful, and empathetic people, who are valued leaders in the community – thank you for all that you do!

And Shadeleap, Flamepaw, and Silverdusk, good luck to you all as well! I know you all care deeply about the community and would fill the Deputy role with ease

I know this election is going to be so difficult with so many wonderful candidates to pick from – I have no idea who to vote for, there’s just so many options! But again, best of luck to all of our splendid candidates

There’s something truly special about being able to gather here, every other year, and to remind ourselves of the uniquely tight-knit community the Blog has fostered since its inception.

And please, as a reminder: don’t share who you voted for and don’t self-deprecate about the results. We want the elections to be fun and run smoothly, and we don’t want to stir up unhappy emotions <3
