Elections, Day 13: Wrap-Up!

Howdy everyone, welcome to the penultimate election post for 2023! (What a great word, penultimate…am I right?) Get hyped! The polls have closed, the votes have been cast, and I hope dearly that you have all done your civic duty. Sadly, we have no “I voted” stickers to hand out to y’all, though.

We’re nearly ready to share the results with you!

But let’s officially wrap up this election with a recap! This year, we had 10 candidates for Deputy and 11 candidates for Medicine Cat – almost exactly the same numbers as last year, wherein we had 11 candidates for each roll!

In 2021, you all cast 258 votes for the first round of the Medicine Cat elections, and 252 votes for the first round of the Deputy elections. This year, you cast 305 votes for Medicine Cat and 310 votes for Deputy in the first round! And further, nearly exactly the same number of votes have been cast in the final rounds for both Medicine Cat and Deputy as there were last election cycle!

Our finalists then moved onto the next and final round of voting, where we only had one vote to cast! I don’t know about you guys, but I found it so hard to vote in this round, I was so indecisive! Last time, both polls had 121 votes cast, and this time, there were 114 votes cast for Medicine Cat and 116 for Deputy!

Before we announce the new Deputy and Medicine Cat tomorrow, let’s take a moment to thank Cheetahspark and Goldenfawn once again for all their amazing hard work. You have been exceptional leaders and role models for the whole community, and we appreciate so much the time and energy you’ve spent keeping the blog a safe and welcoming place. Thank you so much!

And thank YOU, lovely voters, for participating in this election cycle. I’ve had a ton of fun and I hope you all have, too! To our candidates: thank you so much for offering up your time to answer each and every hustings question with thoughtfulness, kindness, and spirit. An early congratulations and thank you to whomever fills the rolls of Deputy and Medicine Cat: I know you guys will continue to make the blog a truly unique corner of the internet, and I can’t wait to see how you lead the community over the next two years.
