Explained #1: Scourge by Lionpaw

Lionpaw takes a look at Scourge and his rise to power.

I’m Lionpaw. You may know me as Lionpaw, Lionstep, or simply, Lioness. Today, I’m talking about one of my favorite villains. Don’t worry, I’m a lot more experienced now, so this article will be a lot less cringey than my first one back in 2022. Let’s begin.

Scourge: Kittypet to Killer King

When we first saw Scourge, he was a teeny tiny kittypet called Tiny. Tiny was smaller than his two littermates, Socks and Ruby. His mother, Quince, takes good care of Tiny, but Scourge is utterly attacked by his littermates.

Quince: “I thought I told you about how to treat your brother!”
Socks: “But Mom, he’s such a little pipsqueak!”
Ruby: “We don’t like him!”

Look at what I put in bold.

Ruby and Socks are explicitly stating that they don’t like Tiny, right in Tiny’s face. If you see Quince’s dialogue, she states that she had told Socks and Ruby to stop before. The bullying only gets worse as the days go by. Soon, Twoleg kits (a.k.a little kids) come to see the cats. Socks and Ruby get a lot of attention, while Tiny is forgotten. Later, when Ruby tells Tiny that he will get drowned in the river if he doesn’t get chosen by a twoleg, Tiny panics and runs away from home, fearful for his life. He walks along the fence and runs away from home. Tiny is later found by a ThunderClan patrol. Tigerclaw (then Tigerpaw) nearly kills Tiny, but Bluefur stops him. Scourge runs away, out of the forest. Later, deeper into the Twolegplace, things become desperate. After getting food from and elderly she-cat, Tiny attempts to take his collar off, only to get laughed at by a crowd of struggling cats. Tiny later sees an elderly dog. It’s tooth falls of as it walks away.

Suddenly, two cats come over.
