Hello! My name is Hazypaw and this will be my third article! I will be discussing why I think Mapleshade deserves StarClan! Just to clarify, this is my opinion!
This is something a strongly believe.
Okay, so I’m going to start with saying what happened to Mapleshade.
Well, to start with, she had kits with a cat from another clan, but it is said she was going to tell her clan sooner. She has the kits, and everyone wants to know who the father is, and she hesitates and Frecklewish just bursts out saying that her dead brother, Birchface (I think that was his name?) was the father.
I just want to say, Mapleshade never admitted to him being the father. But anyways I’m pretty sure she takes them to the river, and they swim (since they’re half RiverClan). When she takes them back, their medicine cat confronts them and says “I had a prophecy and so now those kits aren’t allowed in this clan anymore blah blah blah” and tells the leader.
The leader, (Oakstar) is furious, and since the cat who she had the kits with had killed his son, (which he didn’t, it was an accident) and he exiled her.
Mapleshade, overwhelmed with shock and rage, took her kits to the River to be with their father, Appledusk, in RiverClan, and she was too angry to realize that the river was flooded. She crossed it with her kits, and while they were crossing, a blast of water hit them, and the kits drowned. A riverclan patrol retrieves the drowned kits, and tells Mapleshade they’re dead. She is overwhelmed with grief and shock, and she asks their leader, Darkstar, if they would let her in, her said no but let Appledusk stay. Maplshade was now shocked, overwhelmed with grief and rage, and was driven mad.
She learns that Frecklewish watched the kits drowned without doing anything.
Driven mad, she kills Ravenwing, Appledusk, and Frecklewish, and attempted to kill Reedshine.
Onto, my opinion.
Well, I personally love Mapleshade. But I also think it was wrong for her to murder, but she went mad, and was also starving and very thirsty at the time. She also was hallucinating and was clearly mad, so I believe she deserves StarClan.
I’m going to wrap up this article here because I’m getting bored.

Great article Haze! I disagree though, she might’ve been hallucinating her kits, but she clearly knew what she was doing when she was attacking and killing three cats. It was murder, not manslaughter, and i think she deserves the df. Plus, her kits never told her to kill their dad or anyone else. They were asking for help and crying, not calling for blood!
Thanks!! But she was clearly not thinking correctly, she was driven mad, and her kits’ cries only made it worse. She killed because those cats did something to drive her into exile/her kits dying, and even if I don’t agree with her killing, it wasn’t her fault.

Hello. First time here, but I’m already interested in the “debate”. 😉
For me it has always been a controversial topic.
In my opinion, mapleshade, in theory, deserves the black forest. She remorselessly murdered the three cats based on her own interpretations of what her children wanted her to do..despite being a little insane at this point..and without being in theory, she doesn’t deserve it just because I like her xD
(Despite the reasons, I love this character and even wish it had ended with her alive xD)
Now, one thing I always agreed on was: If she deserved the black forest, so did everyone involved who had a part in the deaths of the cubs. None of them had the slightest consideration for the innocent cubs and for the warriors’ own code: “each and every cub, no matter the clan, must be helped”. And that’s not what happened, they not only denied help but also had a hand in their deaths.
I think she deserves the DF but not because the kits died! That was an accident and while it may have been foolish to swim across the river when there was a bridge right next to her, but i think she deserves the DF because she murdered three cats. Frecklewish, Ravenwing, and the others didn’t murder anyone. Mapleshade did

i agree,she should’ve been able to,cause if ravenwing,oakstar and frecklewish didn’t treat her the way they did,her kits wouldn’t have died in the first place and honestly i’m on her side,bc she thought she had to get rid of the cats because of visions from STARCLAN for starclan’s sake,its totally unfair,what about mudclaw huh? he got to go, thats not fair,y’know? She deserves to be with her kits,appledusk should’ve respected her and ravenwing was terrible too,like who cares if their father is from riverclan anyway- love is love-. (please don’t be offended,it just annoys me,she deserved better :C)

i agree :3,and i heard she visits her kits near the border from the dark forest near starclan,since she’s still alive there,i hope someone takes care of her kits :c

I’m sorry but- MudClaw had all the reason to go to StarClan- he was tricked by HawkFrost, and killed by StarClan to make OneWhisker leader- MudClaw was stripped of his RIGHTFUL title without knowing if OneWhisker and FireStar spoke the truth or not!
He was confused, paranoid, and suspiscious.
Sure, you can argue MapleShade was mentally Ill and MudClaw was not- but “I have an mental illness!” is not getting pass the court when they ask why you murdered three people!
Also, MapleShade doesn’t even hate the Dark Forest! In fact, she quite likes it! So yeah (In case it isn’t obvious, I feel very strongely about MudClaw and his deservance of Leadership :P)
Great article! I don’t know if Mapleshade deserved StarClan, but (at least!) Oakstar, Appledusk, Darkstar, and maybe Reedshine should have gone to the Dark Forest as well, because:
Oakstar cast out a queen due to his own grudges/bias. This led to the death of her kits, meaning he must take some responsibility for his part in their deaths.
Appledusk abandoned Mapleshade, betraying her for Reedshine. After the deaths of their kits, he was callous to a grieving mother and insisted they be buried there. He didn’t even advocate for her to have a night’s stay; instead he blamed her and used his new mate and his silver tongue to pass on the blame.
Darkstar, of course, wouldn’t give sanctuary to a grieving queen.
And Reedshine helped stop her from getting refuge in RiverClan.
All in all, I personally think that Mapleshade should have gone to StarClan or at least those cats should have joined her in the DF.

Just because she suffered a lot doesn’t take away from the fact that she killed three cats. And just because she was hallucinating doesn’t make her any less dangerous. Not to mention that in the Dark Forest she continues to kill cats, despite her hallucinations disappearing. Spottedleaf is double-dead because of her. She worked for Ashfur too. She haunted Appledusk’s entire lineage and indirectly caused the deaths of several of Crookedstar’s loved ones. She didn’t just gain this ability when she died, she always had the capabilities and willingness to hurt people.
