Giving Warrior Names to Cats Who Died Without Them (part one) by Olivepaw

Olivepaw gives warrior names to cats who never got the chance to get one in their lifetime.

Hi! I’m Lightpaw and I’ll be giving warrior names to kits and apprentices without them. I’ll be looking over some popular ones, but I’ll also be studying some that have been overlooked. Warning: this article contains spoilers for Mapleshade’s Vengence, Bluestar’s Prophecy, A Dangerous Path, Dawn, Bramblestar’s Storm, and Squirrelfight’s Hope. Now, let’s begin:

Larchkit, Petalkit, and Patchkit- Larchkit, Petalkit, and Patchkit were the kits of Mapleshade. They died of drowning when they tried to get across a river. Starting with Larchkit, I think his name should be Larchbark because it goes with his name theme and fur color, Petalkit’s should be Petalbush because she seems optimistic and I think of the suffix bush with optimistic, and Patchkit’s should be Patchcreek because he’s sweet and shy.

Sweetpaw- Sweetpaw was the daughter of Poppydawn and died from being buried alive. Sweetpaw is sweet, but that is already her prefix. I would like to say Sweetheart, but it’s a very common option and I like more unique names, so I think her name should be Sweetbrook.

Mosskit- Mosskit was the daughter of Bluestar and Oakheart who died of hypothermia, I believe, on her way to RiverClan. I think that her name would be Mosslight because she was very playful and light-hearted in Bluestar’s Prophecy. She’s also a bit mischievous so another option could be Moss-swipe.

Snowkit- Snowkit was the deaf son of Speckletail who died from a hawk. For Snowkit, I don’t want him to have a name like Snowear, because it would be sad and unfair if he’s remembered for his disability, kind of like Lostface (Brightheart). He’s adorable and sweet in the books, so he should be named after something sweet like him, such as sap. So the result would be Snowsap.

Swiftpaw- Swiftpaw was the son of Goldenflower and Patchpelt. He died fighting dogs alongside Brightheart, who survived. Swiftpaw is brave and determined. He fights for what he thinks is right. He tried to become a warrior when he wasn’t allowed to (even though he was the oldest apprentice). So a good name for him would be Swiftheart or Swiftblaze.

Shrewpaw- Shrewpaw was the son of Ferncloud and Dustpelt and died from a monster while trying to catch prey for his starving Clan. His name would be Shrewstorm because of his strong loyalty to ThunderClan and determination for his Clan to survive in troubling times.

Hollykit and Larchkit- Hollykit and Larchkit were the kits of Ferncloud and Dustpelt. They both died of starvation, leaving their brother, Birchkit, all alone. I think Hollykit would be named Hollyfire for her amber eyes or Hollybranch for her brown pelt, but I like Hollyfire better for her. Larchkit could be named Larchwood or Larchdusk for her dusky brown tabby fur.

Seedpaw was the daughter of Sorreltail and Brackenfur. She died by drowning while saving her sister, Lilypaw. If she had lived, I would like to think that she would get her name from saving her sister, so a good name for her is Seedpool.

Flickerkit- Flickerkit was the son of Sparkpelt and Larksong. He died moments after he was born, adding to Sparkpelt’s grief of her mate’s death. I think his warrior name would be Flickerblaze or Flickerdawn for his gorgeous black and ginger fur.

Cherrypaw- Do you know who they (I’m using they/them pronouns because the gender is unknown) are? No? Neither did I, but I found out that they are one of Fuzzypelt and Robinwing’s kits mentioned in Spottedleaf’s Honest Answer. I don’t know their personality or how they died, but by going off of their ginger and white fur color, I would say their warrior name could be Cherrysnow or Cherrysplash.
