Bloomflower explains why they think Pinestar shouldn’t be allowed into StarClan.

[Pinestar sits, conflictingly thinking about kittypet items]
Oof. The title was a mouthful. ✍(◔◡◔)
Anyway, you guys might be thinking, Pinestar wasn’t evil. He didn’t wrongly kill anyone. He didn’t lie to his Clan or his Clan leader, and he wasn’t a jerk that was mean to everyone indiscriminately and for no reason.
Why shouldn’t he go to StarClan?
But there is one thing he did that in my opinion is unforgivable in the warrior life; he was selfish and only thought of himself.
But Bloomflower! He gave up 8 of his lives for his Clan! Besides, he’s not evil, so he shouldn’t go to the Dark Forest.
Oof. Yep, that was what I thought at first when I read Bluestar’s Prophecy. But then I read Pinestar’s Choice, and my opinion changed.
Pinestar wasn’t like Mudfur, who realized the consequences of fighting over useless things and chose to serve his Clan in a different way. Pinestar wasn’t like Bluestar and other Clan leaders, who were willing to die for their Clan. Pinestar left his Clan to be a kittypet, simply because his kittypet friend died on the Thunderpath.
I’ll admit, that was a tad traumatic. But that didn’t give him a chance or an excuse to abandon his Clan. It’s not a crime to be scared of death. But Pinestar never overcame his fear, and only thought of himself.
Plenty of other cats suffered way worse than he did, ex. Crookedstar, Bluestar, Brightheart
Did they abandon their Clan? No. If anything, they were more motivated to be loyal and work for their Clan. Crookedstar twisted his jaw and lost every cat he loved. Bluestar gave up her kits, her mate, and watched everyone she knew die. Brightheart was terribly injured by the dog pack, and she had to live with a permanent disfigurement.
Ok. So summary: Pinestar abandoned his Clan, but I’m sure everybody knew that. What was so bad that Pinestar couldn’t go to StarClan?
A huge part of warrior life is protecting your Clan, protecting your loved ones, and protecting what you think is right. Forget the warrior code, telling who you should or shouldn’t mate (but that’s a topic for another article.)
By abandoning his leadership position, he didn’t protect his Clan. By becoming a kittypet, he wasn’t protecting his loved ones. And most importantly, he knew Tigerkit was destined to be evil. He knew Leopardfoot was a younger mother than most. He knew his Clan wasn’t at its best. But he still left. That isn’t necessarily protecting what you think is right.
Sure, Pinestar gave up 8 of his lives, but then he turned coward and fled when it came to his last life. He wanted to experience comfort in his last days of his life. There’s nothing wrong with that. But by doing so, he didn’t stop to think about the consequences of his actions. Leopardfoot lost two of her kits after he left and Tigerclaw grew up hating kittypets, open to Thistleclaw’s influence.
Now, let’s compare Pinestar to another warrior who could have followed in his footsteps, but didn’t solely because he/she knew it wasn’t right.
Tigerheart. Ah, I bet at least 69% of you guys reading this probably hate Tigerheart. In my opinion, I’m neutral on this topic.
But anyway, Pinestar and Tigerheart are more similar than you think. Both had a taste for kittypet life (or loner life in Tigerheart’s case), while one chose to stay and the other went back to his Clan.
Was it ambition or loyalty that drove Tigerheart’s decision? We don’t know. I would say it’s both, but that’s up to you guys.
Anyway, Pinestar abandoned his Clan for himself. Tigerheart abandoned his Clan for his mate and kits. See the difference? Pinestar died as a kittypet. Tigerheart came back to be Clan leader and took his family with him. Now, I’m not going to go into the details of Tigerheart’s life and his decisions. But I know that no matter what Tigerheart did to offend you guys, he’s ten times better than Pinestar.
Besides, Pinestar mated with Leopardfoot. I’m not gonna go into the details of how much OLDER Pinestar was than Leopardfoot, but either way, putting the age aside, it was a terrible ship. He started it first, and then he dropped her like a hot potato. Pinestar wasn’t responsible at all; he didn’t care for Leopardfoot, or his kits, or his Clan.
Anyway, that’s it! What do you think? Agree or disagree?
I agree! I also dislike Pinestar because the age gap between him and leopardfoot is insane. Pinestar was leader when Leopardfoot was born, and probably like 2-3 times her age!!!
also an adult when her parents were apprentices… he’s old enough to be her grandpa
Great article, I agree, but I think he should neither go to starclan, nor to the dark forest. He should go to another afterlife.
I don´t think kittypets go to starclan or the dark forest they are just gone forever
Behold, Leopardfoot the hot potato 😛
Mmmmmm…
Potato…..
I want her! *GIVES LEOPARDFOOT HUGE HUGGO SO SHE SUFFOCATES*
I don’t like Tigerheart. Nice article
I most certainly agree! Also Tigerheart is annoying, he and Pinestar are about equal.
But if Pinestar never became a kittypet then Firestar would never of had to join Thuderclan and then Leafpool would have never existed then Jayfeather never would have existed then the clans wouldn’t have existed…
………………………….. you went further back then I usually do (I typically just say that if Leafpool hadn’t broken the code, the clans wouldn’t exist)
I don’t think he should go to the DF. And I don’t like him, I just don’t think he deserves that. The age gap between him and Leopardfoot is huge and I don’t like it, but that doesn’t make him a bad cat. He was a pretty good leader and I don’t think it was very loyal, brave, or kind of him to leave his clan, mate, and kits, but he doesn’t deserve the DF for it. It was his choice and even though Sunstar only got 8 lives bc he has the ninth, he still deserved a happy ending, and if for him it is being a kittypet, then that’s what he deserves. (The clan was better off without him anyway)
That’s a good side to it, though my point was that he prioritized his comfort over other people’s (or um cats) safety by:
-missing a fight between ThunderClan and RiverClan
-abandoning his young (very!) mate who just kitted three weak kits
-knowing his son had the possibility of turning evil but still leaving
Even though I know the DF is harsh and has the tendency to turn cats more evil then they start out as (not to mention our godly sTaRClaN sent cats who didn’t even deserve to go there BTW), I honestly think Pinestar deserves it.
-if your still confused about why I think so reread my article)
But good point!🐈😺
He was actually an okay leader before this, it was that one fear-based decision he made.
But it made all the difference.
Hey acorn I replied again also if you want to communicate by email lmk I’ll give it to you
I think the problem with Pinestar isn’t that he wanted to be a kittypet, or the fact that he abandoned the Clan. I think the problem is that he abandoned his “mate” (🤮) and kit. I’ll compare him to my OC, Sunstorm, who also left the Clan to be a kittypet.
Pinestar left as a leader, he had a duty to do.
Sunstorm left as a new warrior in a Clan with a surplus. There wasn’t really a desperate need for another cat.
Pinestar wasn’t cut out for Clan life but he let himself become a leader before admitting it.
Sunstorm wasn’t cut out for Clan life but she admitted it when she was 15 moons old.
Pinestar abandoned a family.
Sunstorm only abandoned an extremely popular apprentice who didn’t care for her friends, and an apprentice with a crush on her that she didn’t return.
Pinestar lazed around.
Sunstorm was known for regularly helping out lost loners and even a few Clan cats.
What I’m trying to say is, it’s okay to not be cut out for the Clan. But it’s just the way you do it that matters.
Agreeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!! I like Tigerheart!
I dislike Pinestar, but I disagree.
You claimed that other leaders, such as Bluestar and Crookedstar, suffered far more losses than Pinestar did. While that may be true, don’t forget that Pinestar also lost cats throughout his life- including his father, mother, his leader Doestar, and his best friend Shanty, and watched many of his Clanmates die in a freezing leaf-bare, and worse, battles. These losses contributed to Pinestar’s uncertainty that he could truly be a great leader like his predecessor, Doestar, and his father, Oakstar, and whether he could protect his Clanmates from horrible deaths and suffering.
Many leaders stepped down from their leadership position for good causes. Bramblestar retired to the elders’ den because of the doubt cast into him after his experience as a ghost, first unable to do anything, to tell any cat the truth and watching his Clan suffer under the tyranny of the imposter, to being trapped in the Dark Forest, not being able to choose for himself, controlled by a heartless monster, Ashfur. Does this make him any less deserving of StarClan? No. Bramblestar gave up his leadership for the good of ThunderClan. Same goes for Pinestar. At this point, he was halfheartedly leading his Clan, tired of the battles and rivalries between Clan and Clan. Would it really be better for ThunderClan, if they had a leader who set aside his burden as leader to visit the Twolegplace?
By handing his leadership to Sunstar, he gifted ThunderClan with a strong leader that he could place his complete faith in. A leader who could truly protect his Clan, the kind of leader Pinestar believed he couldn’t be. While I agree that abandoning his loved ones, especially his mate, Leopardfoot, and his three kits, wasn’t a good choice, especially upon himself already knowing that Tigerkit one day could destroy ThunderClan, you can’t blame Pinestar for not being able to foresee Tigerkit’s true future. Even Doestar mentioned that Tigerkit’s darker fates was merely a possibility- that things could be changed. Pinestar shouldn’t be expected to consider the fact that Tigerkit could end up like how he did, or that his two kits would die.
help this is getting way too long-
( ^_^)/
That’s a good point; Pinestar did lose a lot of people (or um cats) in his lifetime. I never thought of that (。•́︿•̀。)
And while it’s true some cats retired from their leadership position due to special circumstances and for the good of their Clan, Pinestar’s situation was different. Very different.
Yes, the Clan was indeed better off without Pinestar. But he wasn’t leaving for the sake of the Clan. He was leaving for 𝘩𝘪𝘮. For his comfort.
That makes a huge difference.
Look at this:
‘“The StarClan cat faced him again.
“Listen to me, Pinestar. No cat knows your son’s destiny yet; only the possibilities he will be born with. It is up to you to teach him honor, loyalty, compassion—everything given to you for your nine lives. This cat will have the power to be a great leader, if you guide his paw steps well.”’
Notice:
Doestar specifically said: This cat will have the power to be a great leader, 𝘪𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘨𝘶𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘱𝘢𝘸𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘱𝘴 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭.
Pinestar’s reaction?
‘𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘬𝘪𝘵𝘴 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘯!
Even as the thought slipped through his mind, Pinestar recoiled in horror.’
Pinestar had thought subconsciously that his own kits; his flesh and blood, were better off not born.
And then later:
‘“The medicine cat nodded and stepped aside. “The tom’s the weakest,” he warned.
A savage burst of hope flared in Pinestar’s chest. Perhaps StarClan will take him before the prophecy can come true.
Leopardfoot looked up as he entered. “You came,” she stated flatly. “I waited for you all night.”’
Even worse. No regret this time. Pinestar didn’t even realize the direction his thoughts were heading, so far as hoping his kit would die before the prophecy came true. He wanted his kit to die. Even wafter Doestar specifically said it was a possibility. Even when he had the chance and power to stop that from happening.
‘𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘊𝘭𝘢𝘯!
“I’m sorry, I can’t play with you today,” Pinestar meowed. The blood
was roaring in his ears and his vision blurred. “I have to go somewhere.” He turned and padded quickly across the clearing.
“Tomorrow?” he heard Tigerkit call after him.
Pinestar didn’t answer. He pushed his way into the gorse, relishing the way the thorns clutched at his fur and pricked his muzzle.
𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘢 𝘧𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘬𝘪𝘵!’
Oof I’m including way too many excerpts. :p
Sorry mods ( ′~‵ )
Maybe I’ll just input this into my part two-
But yeah, that’s my point.
All of Pinestar’s decisions were based on himself. He left the Clan for himself, he didn’t want to father Tigerkit for himself, and he even wanted Lionpaw to lie to the Clan that he was dead when in actuality he was leaving to become a kittypet. He didn’t want to admit the fact that he was a coward.
There are too many points I should address ⊙︿⊙
In part 2, I guess.
If my comment is actually published.
Good point tho
(this is way too long omg a mini article ◑.◑)
I mostly agree Seedo except the only thing I disagree with is that he lost Shanty because if he hadn’t been disloyal and sneaking off to see kittypets in the first place then he wouldn’t have formed that relationship and the death of Shanty wouldn’t have meant anything to him. She wouldn’t have been endowed to him.
Personally I don’t think Pinestar should be in StarClan, however I def do not think he should go to the Dark Forest. He is not a “bad” cat in my eyes, but I think his actions were not very good. Mostly during the end of his life.
And of course, do Tigerstar’s actions make him bad? Yes they do. However if you look at Tigerstar’s entire life, the majority of it was bad decisions and actions. Meanwhile applying the same analysis to Pinestar’s life, I think I can remain more neutral
I totally agree! I hate Tigerheart.
I politely disagree, great article though. Yes, I am one of the many people in the Tigerheart hate club.
