Every single entry was phenomenal and it was so lovely to see a whole different kind of creativity that you all have! I love how vibrant and unique each design was, and trust me, it made picking the winners incredibly difficult 😛 But without further ado, the winners are…

For Rainbowheart, the winning design by Rainbowshine (how fitting 😛)!

We loved your torbie take on Rainbowheart, and her pastel colors and bright eyes are sure to stand out in the TSGN pages!

For Hazelburrow, the winning design by Ravage!

Hazelburrow’s turquoise eyes contrast so nicely with the shade of hazel fur that you picked, and I love the teardrop details you added on her face!

And last but not least, for Cakestar, the winning design by Honeyjade!

We loved how protective and fierce your take on Cakestar was, especially her bulky body type, perfect for our fearless BlogClan leader!

Thank you SO SO much to everyone who submitted a design, and for being an important part of hyping this project back to life!!! Literally every design was so beautiful and it was so hard to pick between them, I procrastinated for about three days 😛 I’m truly grateful for all the love from y’all on this, and a HUGE congratulations to the winners!!! 😀 Onto other news…

TSGN REVAMP + ARTIST SIGNUPS

The long awaited artist signups and TSGN revamp!!! There’s lots to explain first before signups, though, so buckle up!

SO, LIKE, WHAT’S GOING ON?

Last we left off, we had just completed the graphic novel parts for Chapter 1 of Trailing Stars, so with this round, we’ll be jumping into Chapter 2, 3, and 4! Hopefully, we can finish this by the end of summer, since I know lots of Blogclanners have less time during the school year 🙂 Once the parts for these chapters are complete, signups for the next chapters will open – so don’t fret if you’re not able to contribute at this time of year! Here’s the chapter breakdown:

• Chapter 2: 5 parts
• Chapter 3: 3 parts
• Chapter 4: 5 parts

Details of exactly what plot points each part covers will be sent to the artists assigned to them, which leads us into…

WHAT ARTIST ROLES ARE AVAILABLE?

We’ve changed things around a little bit to streamline the entire project and make sure it can move quickly! There are 28 chapters in Trailing Stars after all 😛 Here are all the details on the roles that will be available for signup!

SKETCH ARTIST

Responsibilities: Outlines page and sketches out each panel, helps storyboard and compose the page design. Example can be found here.

LINE ART ARTIST

Responsibilities: Lines the sketch and solidifies the visual design of the page so that it is ready to be colored. Also adds text and speech bubbles to the page.

COLORING/EFFECTS ARTIST

Responsibilities: Colors in the line art and adds lighting, shading, and other effects to make the page a complete and polished final product.

ONE PAGE ARTIST

Responsibilities: Completes all parts (sketch, line art, coloring) of the page, with the final product being a completely lined and colored page with all effects. This role does not include character design.

CHARACTER DESIGNER

Responsibilities: Creates character designs for characters that newly appear in the assigned part who DO NOT have a reference, but DO have a description. Designs will be based on character name, description and artist’s choice. Character designers are allowed to use bases, as long as they credit the creator of the base.

If you’re confused about the Character Designer role and what kinds of characters they design, it’s explained in the TSGN Resources page!

In order to keep things flowing smoothly, each role has a schedule attached to it as well, which is the amount of time an artist has to complete their part! This isn’t to stress anyone out, but just to keep all accountable – otherwise we’ll be stuck in limbo again as we have the past few years 😛 Some roles also have check-ins, in order to make sure our artists are on track to complete their part, and, if they aren’t on track, to have a chance to drop their part!

• Sketch Artist: 2 weeks
  • Check-in after 1 week: Page’s composition should be completed
• Line Art Artist: 1 week
  • No check-in
• Coloring/Effects Artist: 2 weeks
  • Check-in after 1 week: Page’s flat coloring and background should be completed
• One Page Artist: 4 weeks
  • Check-in after 1 week: Completion of the page’s lineart and composition.
  • Check-in after 2 weeks: Completion of the page’s flat coloring and background. 
  • Check-in after 3 weeks: Progress of the page’s shading and lighting, and any remaining questions
• Character Designer: 1 week per character, for no more than 2 weeks (two characters max)
  • No check-in

We also understand that sometimes life happens, and that’s ok! Because of that, all roles are allowed a one week extension to complete their parts. However, regardless of how you’re doing, it’s super duper important for you to COMMUNICATE with us!!! Keep us updated with your check-ins and progress, and, if you need to drop, it’s better to tell us sooner than later 😀

For this go-around, signups will be open from now until June 24th!😊 We aim to send out part assignments, and make a post will all the part assignments, a day or two after signups close!
