Hello and welcome to my first article! I’m a huge Crowfeather fan and here I’m going to tell you why that is.

EVOLUTION
So, first we have his beautiful character evolution. When we first got to know Crowpaw in The New Prophecy, he was an ambitious little brat with a sharp tongue who mostly muttered to himself. He was toxically loyal to his Clan (I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, but he just overreacted a little, attacking rival warriors for no reason and stuff like that), and in general a very mean character. However, at the journey to the Sun-drown-place, his character softened a little as he fell in love with Feathertail. He seemed a lot happier and well, muttered less. I love to see such a cold character turn warm(er) with only a flash of love. He even chose to name himself after Feathertail after her death! However, this love-thing becomes way clearer when he instead falls in love with Leafpool. Any other cat is being treated by him as if they put bees in his nest, but to Leafpool, he’d never say a bad word. He even escaped with her! And then, when she decided her role as a medicine-cat was more important than Crowfeather, he became is former, cold self. Summary of these events: Crowfeather has something warm and friendly inside, covered by a hard shell of ice. He just needs someone to break it to let that love out.

MISUNDERSTOOD
So, secondly, I feel really sorry for him. Many people don’t like him because he’s either grumpy or just overreacting. Some people even call him evil! I’m not saying I don’t respect these people, because I understand them, but I do have my reasons not to agree: He’s gone through a lot. Just take a heartbeat just to think over his life. His father, Deadfoot, died early. He was also a deputy, and as Crowpaw was his only surviving kit, he indeed had some expectations to live up to. Then suddenly, he is chosen to make a long journey, alone with five cats from other Clans – cats he has been raised to hate. He’s only an apprentice! However, he falls in love with one of those cats, and then, she’s suddenly dead. Imagine that sorrow! And then, he falls in love again – this time with a medicine-cat from another Clan! Can you see how hopeless this is for poor Crowfeather? Fortunately, she loves him too, and they escape the Clans together. Then, after about one day (I don’t remember exactly), that girl just says: “You know what, I think I’ll return.” And Crowfeather has to return to WindClan where now no one trusts him. He’s being called a traitor and now everything is hopeless once again. He is forced to take a mate in WindClan just to prove his loyalty, and he gets a son who hates him and trains in the Dark Forest to kill him. He also finds out he has three half-Clan kits whom he actually loves but is forced to hate just to keep his Clanmates’ trust. This is all a very hopeless life if you ask me.

STRONG
Finally, I think Crowfeather is a very strong and capable character. Despite all he’s went through, he’s still standing on all four paws as the deputy of WindClan. Many characters would probably simply give up after all this, but he didn’t.

So, these are my opinions about the perfect character Crowfeather! Feel free to share yours! May StarClan light your path, always!
