Hiya!! Something I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned on the blog is my deep love for Taylor Swift and her music. Not to ruffle any feathers, but I’m proclaiming myself as the blog’s biggest swiftie.
Aside from that, whenever I reread the WC books, I can’t help but relating characters to T Sweezy herself’s songs.

#1: Squirrel x Bramble- ‘tolerate it’ (evermore)

I think that this song perfectly describes Squirrel and Bramble’s relationship, especially in Squirrelflight’s Hope. It describes a relationship where one person is putting all their time and energy into the other, only to be met with coldness and tolerance. Although Squirrel x Bramble isn’t a ship I necessarily dislike, and I do think they have some sweet moments, especially towards the beginning of their relationship, anyone can clearly see that some of Bramble’s actions towards Squilf can border on mental abuse, and she doesn’t do anything about it, and keeps putting energy into trying to please Bramble.

Specific lyrics:
“I know my love should be celebrated, but you tolerate it”
“I take your indiscretions all in good fun”
“I wait by the door like I’m just a kid, use my best colors for your portrait”
“I made you my temple, my mural, my sky. Now I’m begging for footnotes in the story of your life”

#2: Sunbeam- ‘mirrorball’ (folklore)

According to Taylor Swift herself, a mirrorball is a person who changes their demeanor or personality in order to fit in with whichever group they’re involved with. The song describes someone who loses their identity because they’ve created so many different versions of themself (hence the individual reflections on an actual mirrorball). I think this song describes Sunbeam because she always seems to adapt her personality to fit whichever group she’s staying with (ex: ThunderClan and ShadowClan). After leaving SC, she morphs herself into what she believes is a TC cat, but once Nightheart leaves for his quest, she realizes she doesn’t really know who she is.

lyrics:
“I can change everything about me to fit in”
“I’ll get you out on the floor, shimmering beautiful”
“And when I break it’s in a million pieces”
“I’ll show you every version of yourself tonight”

#3: Firestar- ‘Long Live’ (Speak Now)

Long Live is about a past hero reminiscing about all the adventures that brought them to their position of fame, and wishing eternal memory on those adventures. Firestar is a perfect example of this, but not just because he’s the stereotypical “hero” character, but because the connection to a battle partner in the song describes the gratitude and respect Firestar gains for each and every cat who assisted him.

lyrics:
“When they point to the pictures, please tell ‘em my name. Tell them how the crowds went wild”
“I said ‘remember this moment?’ In the back of my mind”
“You held your head like a hero on a history book page”

#4- Sun x Night – Delicate (reputation)

Delicate is a song about a person who gets into a relationship after their reputation (😜) has been damaged, and they get the realization that they’re finally being liked for themself. I think this song describes Sunbeam and Nightheart’s relationship because they both had a damaged reputation prior to meeting eachother. Nightheart had failed his warrior assessment, asked for his prefix to be changed at his warrior ceremony, and switched clans twice, while Sunbeam had been rejected by Blazefire, lost her best friend, and damaged her relationship with her mother.

lyrics:
“this ain’t for the best, my reputation’s never been worse so you must like me for me”
“Is it cool that I said all that? Is it chill that you’re in my head? ‘Cause I know that it’s delicate”
“Sometimes I wonder when you sleep, are you ever dreamin’ of me?”

#5: Blue x Oak – Dancing with Our Hands Tied

The reason I chose this song for Blue/Oak (a ship I honestly have a love/hate relationship with) is because it fits the trope of their unexpected love. It’s also a song about falling for someone with who you never thought you could, and realizing why later on. Bluefur wasn’t all too fond of Oakheart when they first met, but later grew to love him, even though they were from different clans.

lyrics:
“My love had been frozen, deep blue but you painted it golden”
“You said there was no one in the world who could stop us, I had a bad feeling”
“I loved you in secret”

That’s all for my first article, and considering I have no clue what to say as a conclusion, just give me some feedback in the comments and have an amazing day!!
