1. The age difference. Spottedleaf is at LEAST 2 years older than Firepaw/star, as he is only 6 or 7 moons old when he first meets her. She is a medicine cat WITH her med cat name. Medicine cats’ training takes about up to 3 times as long as normal warrior training, so she could honestly be 5 years old. (and did nobody notice how the med-cats-not-being-allowed-to-have-mates rule didn’t pop up until later? Not really related, but still). This is a little weird, since she started visiting him in dreams before he was a warrior and the visits had a definite non-platonic vibe.
2. The weird attitude Spottedleaf has toward him. When Firepaw meets Spottedleaf for the first time, she’s pretty indifferent, and most of their conversations seem to consist of Spottedleaf basically just being nice to him and then saying, “Ok, get out of my den.” It felt more like a one-sided crush on Firepaw’s part than anything really going on between the two. When she died (both times) Firestar was brokenhearted, and seemed genuinely attached to her. Maybe Spottedleaf started visiting him after she died because she didn’t have as many admirers in StarClan…
3. She stalks him like a psycho- AFTER he has a mate. Firestar already has a life with Sandstorm, who’s going to have his KITS, for StarClan’s sake- yet Spottedleaf keeps visiting him in dreams, and doesn’t seem very pleased that her victim has a mate. No wonder Sandstorm is insecure about Firestar’s relationship with Spottedleaf.
It doesn’t end there. In Spottedleaf’s conversation with Leafstar, when she divulges the information that Firestar’s kits have been born, she acts openly jealous of Firestar’s mate, Sandstorm. She also tells Leafpool that she wanted to be Firestar’s mate. This is extremely weird, because when she was alive, she didn’t really take that much interest in her would-be ‘mate’. It’s odd that after Spottedleaf went to StarClan, her relationship with Firestar turned from a polite, businesslike interest to a full-fledged obsession where she basically visited him in dreams every other night.

You somehow took my exact feelings about this ship and put them into words. And don’t forget about Spottedleaf’s weird relationship with Thistleclaw. She has a history of being in these odd situations.
Great article! I also dislike SpottedxFire ship. My problem with it is that Spottedleaf doesn’t have any right to tell Firestar he can be in love with Sandstorm

I agree with all of this. The age gap is kind of creepy, and Spotted RARELY showed any intrest towards him before she died.
Also, question: Is the Spotted x Fire ship really cannon? Or is it fan?
This article is completely right! Spotted fire sucks because when shes alive she ain’t giving any attention to firepaw/ fireheart/firestar and then after she died she starts stalking his dreams like every night.In general Spotted leaf kinda goes around and just zap make cats fall in love with her then once shes dead she goes full on stalker mood.Then there her weird relationship with thistleclaw. spotted leaf is just not under the good title in my book.
