Willowlight argues why Twigbranch should be the deputy of ThunderClan.

Hi! It’s Willowlight back with another article! I hope you read my first article about Lightleap, because she is the best stupid cockroach ever <3 But that isn’t the topic of this article, so let’s dive into the real point.

As of Shadow, it is confirmed that Bramblestar is going to step down and make Squirrelflight (Squirrelstar?) leader of ThunderClan. Based on spoilers, it seems like Ivypool is going to be Squilf’s deputy, but I think that she should choose a different cat.

Who should the deputy be, you might ask?

Well, I think Squirrelflight’s deputy should be none other than… drumroll… Twigbranch.

Before I start telling you how Twigbranch should be deputy, I’ll tell you why a certain other cat shouldn’t. And that cat is Ivypool. I love Ivypool just as much as the next person, but I don’t think she has the right qualities to help lead and eventually completely lead a Clan. As we can see in Omen of the Stars, Ivypool is very emotional. She was very jealous of her sister Dovewing, and had “dark thoughts” which led her to be teleported to the Dark Forest in her dreams. However, as Violetshine said at her naming ceremony, “Twigbranch will probably get a fierce name, she’s so practical.” This is precisely why she should be the deputy. The position of deputy should go to a practical cat like Twigbranch, not an emotional one like Ivypool.

You might be asking, “Why, Willowlight? Why Twigbranch, of all cats?” Well, Twigbranch has said time and time again that she doesn’t want kits, and I think the reason for that is clear. She is concentrated on becoming the deputy! She-cats with kits are not allowed to become deputies, so Twigbranch probably has her heart set on the role. Don’t you think she deserves it?

Of course, she might face opposition because she was not born in ThunderClan, and her loyalties switched around a lot. But I think the fact that she chose ThunderClan over the Clan with her sister and father says a lot about just how loyal Twigbranch is to ThunderClan. Look at Firestar – he was a kittypet, of all things, and yet still became the most respected leader in Clan history. Surely, taking that into consideration, Squirrelstar will be just fine with making Twigbranch her deputy, despite her origins.
