Jackdawpaw defends some of the most hated characters in Warriors.
Hello, Jackdawpaw here with another article! As the title says, I am going to discuss the most hated characters and defend them. Just to be clear, these aren’t characters that I necessarily think deserve to be defended, but I’ll do my best.
Ashfur
Okay, so, we all know Ashfur’s story, he’s kind of… not so nice to everyone. I guess the best defense I can give him is that, to begin with, he was heartbroken. He loved Squirrelflight, Squirrelflight didn’t love him, and that made him a maniac. That’s all I can give you, though, Ashfur. Sorry…
Rainflower
Oh, gosh… This is going to be hard. But I actually have an idea here. She obviously loved Crookedstar a lot, and seeing him injured so badly, she must have felt guilty, somehow. She was his mother and her responsibility. Still, she didn’t notice him running away and now he will always have a crooked jaw. Every time she saw her son, she was probably reminded of her guilt and that this was her fault, even though it wasn’t. This made her avoid him. She gave him his own nest and focused on Oakheart much more than before. I know this doesn’t explain why she was always so cold against Crookedstar and why she insisted on renaming him, but my guess is that she turned her guilt to anger in an effort to hide her feelings. Everything seemed just too much for her.
Thistleclaw
I haven’t read Bluestar’s Prophecy yet, for some reason, so… Let’s just say he did what he thought was right.
Skystar
Again, I suppose he did what he thought was right, even though many people might not agree with him (I’m one of them). After that both Bright Stream and Storm died, he felt like he couldn’t lose any other cat, so he became overprotective and cruel, just to protect them.
One Eye
He obviously liked power. And is that his fault? He can’t help that he was born with the interest of ruling over lots of cats, surely? He did what his instincts told him to, and if that means murder… Well, it was his mother who brought him to the world, and not him, so let’s just blame it all on her.
Brokenstar
We all know he had a tough childhood, not knowing who his real parents were and stuff like that. He didn’t really get the kithood every kit deserves.
So, I think I can’t last this any longer; it’s much harder than I’d thought. I might have missed some characters, but I won’t do a part 2, so… Jackdawpaw out!
This is great! you should be a barrister.
