Rating Dawn of the Clans ships by Jackdawpaw and Juniperpaw

Jackdawpaw and Juniperpaw share their thoughts on some ships from Dawn of the Clans.

Hello and welcome to our second article together! Today we’re going to rate DotC ships (as the title says)! Also, we’re not very good at ship names so we’ll just go with [name x name]. Let’s begin!

First up: Gray Wing x Turtle Tail – 10/10
Jackdawpaw: 10/10! I love this ship! I really love how Gray Wing is just very stupid and doesn’t realize Turtle Tail loves him, and she gets so angry when he meets Storm she actually goes to live with Bumble and her Twolegs. Also, I like both characters as individuals, so that might help too. Turtle Tail’s attitude is also wonderful… she kind of bullies Gray Wing. And how he takes care of the kits! Yeah, I have a lot of beautiful things to say about this ship, but I’ll leave some of it to Juniperpaw!
Juniperpaw: Thank you for that, Jackdawpaw! Now, one thing I absolutely adore and hate at the same time is what an AMAZING and loving father Gray Wing was. He was basically like a role model, even when he was in arguments. The thing I hate about this is the short amount of time that the authors gave him with Turtle Tail. I was horrified when she just all of a sudden died. She didn’t even get to see her kits grow up! She died for her kits, and that combined along with Gray Wing’s father skills just makes them a great ship. 10/10 from me too.

Secondly: Jackdaw’s Cry x Hawk Swoop – 8/10
Jackdawpaw: 8/10. It’s a fine ship, especially since Falling Feather left Jackdaw’s Cry and Hawk Swoop was the only one he had. They’re cute together, and without this ship Lightning Tail wouldn’t exist (yes, I love Lightning Tail).
Juniperpaw: I agree! The ship is great, and I think it’s a bit like the Gray X Turtle for me. Jackdaw’s Cry and Hawk Swoop were great parents together, and I really think that they brought their kits up amazingly. I mean, Acorn Fur and Lightning Tail inherited many good skills and manners from them. I mean, for example, Lightning Tail was able to see right through Star Flower (skill) but only told Thunder politely, no matter how mad he was (manner). So yeah, even though it’s kind of a minor ship, I also give it 8/10.

And now: Holly x Jagged Peak – 5/10
Jackdawpaw: 4/10. I mean, it looks like a good ship to begin with, as Holly seems to make Jagged Peak much more self-confident despite his injured leg, but the problem is that he becomes just TOO self-confident, making him kind of rude to Gray Wing. He seems to think he’s better than everyone else and he’s the leader of the group. I think this is a lot because of Holly – but I don’t blame her for that, only Jagged Peak.
Juniperpaw: Same goes for me, like exactly the same… only thing left to say that makes me rate the ship 6/10 is, as you mentioned, the sole support that Holly offered him. I feel like it really took him out of that dark pit and made him feel seen. He was very lonely before Holly came, and kind of pushed the rest of the camp away. But, just as Jackdawpaw said, this made him way too confident, making him basically uprise against Gray Wing, pure rebellion when all he did was being kind and help? He went all out on Gray Wing and even lashed out on him for fussing with him because of his injury. And I get it, he was tired of being babied when he’d learned to take care of himself, but he could’ve just told Gray Wing that politely and accepted the father figure Gray Wing offered him. But, overall, it’s still a 6/10 from me.

And, finally, Storm x Clear Sky – 0,5/10
Jackdawpaw: So, I was going to give this ship -7/10 or something, because Storm was just so mean to poor Gray Wing and just moved into Clear Sky’s camp without even a “sorry”, but what made me give them a 0 was that still, they did love each other… a lot. They couldn’t help that, and their son was THUNDER, and I mean, that must be a good sign. Still, it hurts not to give them -something.
Juniperpaw: A valid opinion. I feel kind of the same. I mean, it was awful that Gray Wing had literal butterflies in his stomach whenever he even thought about going out to meet Storm, when all this time, it was still going to end up with the she-cat of his dreams literally looking at his brother and bam, in love. Poor Gray Wing. He never even stood a chance. Gray Wing literally sacrificed his friendship with Turtle Tail for Storm, and that means he of course hurt Turtle Tail a lot because she was in love with him. He sacrificed his best friend for someone who went “It wouldn’t work out; I love your brother. Sorry I guess”. Storm rejected him so simply, seemingly without a thought about how he felt. I would give this ship -10, but in the end, how ridiculous it may be, they loved each other. So I’ll give it -1/10.
