Maplepaw shares their thoughts on the Snowkit-Snowtuft theory.
SPOILERS: The Broken Code spoilers. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK OF SPOILERS!!!
Hello, it’s Maplepaw again, and today I’d like to talk about the theory of Snowkit (from TPB) being Snowtuft (from TBC).
Yes, Snowkit could be Snowtuft.
Even though I do not believe that Snowkit could be Snowtuft, there is evidence showing that he could.
First, all disabilities are healed in the Warriors afterlife, meaning that if Snowkit was Snowtuft, he would be able to hear in the Dark Forest even though he couldn’t before his death. It would be like how Brokentail could see again in the Dark Forest and Briarlight could use her hind legs in StarClan.
In Forestpaw’s article in 2018, they also say that Snowkit and Snowtuft both had the same fursona, and they also state that Snowkit was never seen or mentioned in StarClan, meaning that he could be in the Dark Forest as Snowtuft. So, Snowkit and Snowtuft had the same fursona? This could show that they were the same cat and that this theory is true. And if he was never mentioned in StarClan, surely he could have only been in the Dark Forest . . . as Snowtuft.
Well, I’m going to explain how I disagree.
No, Snowkit can’t be Snowtuft.
Let me explain . . .
So you know how disabilities are healed in StarClan? Well, they aren’t healed during the cat’s life. Like Brackenfur and Fireheart explained in The Prophecies Begin, it would be very hard for Snowkit to learn commands and become a warrior. This is shown when a hawk is nearing the camp, and Snowkit doesn’t understand the signals his mother was trying to use to bring him to safety. Sadly, it ends with the kit being taken by the hawk. So how did he become such a blood-thirsty ShadowClan warrior that went to battle if he couldn’t even understand simple motions? It would be very hard to train him to be a warrior. This shows that Snowkit was probably killed by the hawk, and wasn’t Snowtuft after all.
But there is much more evidence I’d like to share before I conclude. Also, if Snowkit did become the ShadowClan warrior Snowtuft, surely there would have to be a Snowpaw or a Snowtuft on the allegiances? But there wasn’t, meaning that Snowtuft was probably just a character made up for the plot of A Broken Code. The Erins probably just needed a Dark Forest cat to help their protagonists, and that cat was Snowtuft. To add onto that, when Shadowsight meets Snowtuft in the Dark Forest, Snowtuft explains that he was a supporter of Tigerclaw/star and did murder some cats, probably leading him to being in the Dark Forest. Besides that, there wasn’t much history behind him, meaning that he was just some character written for the plot of the series.
Okay, back to Forestpaw’s article. Now, like I said before, they said Snowkit and Snowtuft looked the same. Had the same fur color, prefix in their names, and they both had blue eyes. But what if I told you that I did a little research, and I found another reason why Snowkit can’t be Snowtuft. Well, I searched it up, and found that Snowtuft doe not have a defined eye color, meaning that his eye color might not have been blue, another reason that he and Snowkit are not the same cat.
Another reason! What if Snowkit went to the Dark Forest and became Snowtuft during his afterlife? Well, that wouldn’t be possible. Kits do not grow older in StarClan. I have some evidance for this, too. When Jayfeather was having a talk in StarClan, he said that he was younger than everyone there, but then Mosskit appears and makes Jayfeather correct himself. So . . . Mosskit is still a kit, even though she had been in StarClan for a while. So if Snowkit died and went to the Dark Forest, he would still be known as Snowkit, not Snowtuft.Let’s see what the Wiki/Google thinks about it:
Now the last reason. I searched it up, and the warriors wiki says: “Although he was not seen in StarClan, the Warriors Wiki confirms that Snowkit is in fact a StarClan cat.”
So, in my conclusion, I do not believe that Snowkit is Snowtuft, and that he is living happily in StarClan.
I hope you liked this, and I’d like to know any more evidence for either side that you know! Maplepaw out!
I never believed that Snowkit could be Snowtuft, although there are several reasons that make it somewhat possible. Still, it’s all too different.
Well done on this article, you did a marvellous job!
Great article! I completely agree.
Great articled! I agree wholeheartedly!
I also wanted to correct something! Snowtuft existed before TBC, he was a background DF cat in OOTS most likely created to fill space :3
Cool article!
Great article! I agree with all your points 🙂
I agree with you. I never thought that Snowtuft = Snowkit theories made any sense. In the event that the hawk had dropped Snowkit and he was not killed by the fall, he would have been a deaf and probably injured kit, with no training, alone in the forest. He would have been easy prey for any predator.
Great article! I absolutely agree. Nothing can convince me that Snowkit is Snowtuft, it just doesn’t make sense when you dive into it.
Great article, but I disagree! That giant scar of Snowtuft’s could’ve been him squirming out of the hawk/owl’s talons. He might have landed in shadowclan territory and they took him in. Also, we all know the erins forget about the allegiances <:
True, but irl stories of full-grown cats and small dogs being taken away by hawks makes me think that he couldn’t have survived as he was only a kit. I also believe that he was only made to have a place in the Dark Forest battle in OotS and help Shadowsight in TBC.
Snowtuft’s scar being from the hawk can’t be true for two reasons. 1. Cats’ scars and injuries are healed in StarClan, unless they don’t want them to be. 2. Snowtuft’s scar was given to him by Shredtail in Fading Echoee.
Your first point wouldn’t be quite true, because If snowkit had indeed gone to the dark forest, then his wounds wouldn’t be healed because of all the dark forest warriors who still have their scars, so they would only heal if he had gone to Starclan first and then to the dark forest like ashfur technically did. But the scar theory is also disproved as you’re correct with your second point and it would be unlikely he got that scar from the hawk.
Great article, Mapey!
You made some great points in this article.
However, I’m not entirely sure what I think about this subject.
HA. same. I honestly didn’t even know about the theory of Snowkit being Snowtuft before i stumbled onto BlogClan :p
Still honestly don’t know what to think. I can see both sides being true, and they both present good points.
I disagree.
Lemme explain-
Although Snowtuft does not have a defined eye colour, snowkit’s eyes.. Arent defined either. All kits eyes are born blue. while this may or may not be constant, ex. Bramblekit’s eyes being amber in TPB, Snowkit’s eyes could have been literally any natural colour afterwards. Although cats cannot grow older in Starclan, that does not mean that their eye color cannot change. And also, it is not mentioned weather or not they can get older in the Dark Forest, so I believe that Snowkit might have become a ‘paw in shadowclan after surviving the hawk (which I believe is where the scars on his haunches came from) He could have died evil and got older, and I also believe that the dark forest cats would have given him a warrior name.
As for the warriors wiki… Was the wiki created by the erins, or by a fandom? As we all know, wiki’s can be edited and altered VERY easily. So I believe that this wiki is incorrect.
And lemme point out based on Mallowpaw’s comment, Im pretty sure they dont heal in the dark forest! And he just could very well have chosen to keep them.
Despite my ranting, this was a great article 🙂
1. I believe that Snowkit wasn’t a new kit, as during the book he was introduced in, ThunderClan was already looking into finding him a mentor. He would already be old enough to have his own eye color, so his are defined.
2. He could have chosen to keep the scars, but, like Mallowpaw said, he was given the injury in the Dark Forest.
2. Yes, but it also doesn’t say his eye color in the books. It does say that most white cats have blue eyes, but the Erins don’t really stick to genetics, so I still think that he might not actually have blue eyes.
