Flickerbreeze shares their opinion on StarClan.
StarClan, the place where cats go where they die (mostly). It is considered an honour to meet StarClan, but I don’t like it. They are vague and unfair to many. Their judgement and their prophecies don’t make sense. Flickerbreeze is back and today, I’ll explain why I hate StarClan.
I really dislike StarClan for giving very vague prophecies. They’re like “We [StarClan], know everything to keep the clans out of trouble, but we’ll give this extremely weird prophecy instead to transmit our message”. That is just wrong. I’m sure that a lot of trouble could have been avoided if StarClan had sent a clearer message to the Clans. Also, they claimed the only way to unite the Clans against the Dark Forest in Omen of the Stars was to turn them against each other. I don’t know about you guys, but that sounds stupid. But that isn’t the main reason I hate StarClan.
Another reason I hate StarClan is the way each time they make a mistake, they blame it on the Clan cats. Not always, but most of the time. That is just wrong and unjust. An example is when Yellowfang tells Jayfeather to tell Cinderheart about being Cinderpelt, then blames him for telling her. *Cricket noises*. Plus, I feel StarClan hides a lot from the Clans which probably wasn’t nice and didn’t help the Clans that much.
But the unfairness of how StarClan judges cats has to take the cake. Just look at Juniperclaw. I feel he deserved to be in StarClan because when he poisoned the SkyClan fresh-kill pile, he thought he was doing the right thing. He had no evil intentions. He saves Shadowkit and a very pregnant Violetshine from drowning and in doing so, sacrifices his life. Apparently, that’s not enough for StarClan. Another example is Leafpool’s trial. Moth Flight and Bluestar repeatedly accuse Leafpool of having kits with a WindClan warrior, but hey Moth Flight, weren’t you a medicine cat who had kits with a SkyClan warrior. How convenient was it to think you could decide that medicine cats shouldn’t have kits. And Bluestar, didn’t you have kits with Oakheart, a RiverClan cat. You abandonned your kits for deputyship, yet you get to be in StarClan. Why shouldn’t Leafpool then?
Anyways, I hate StarClan for not helping the Clans as much as they can and being unfair, turning a blind eye on other cat’s feelings. Flicks is out.
P.S: Next article: Why I really dislike Dovewing.
Some of those are actually really good reasons, specifically the one about the unfair judgment of cats. But I think that StarClan telling them super cryptic prophecies is actually okay because it’s kinda needed in order to keep the series going and make each arc at least six books long. But of course that’s just my opinion! I think that StarClan blaming the living Clans is also wrong, but I don’t question the books! I think that all of this honestly is done to keep some drama rolling within the story so that the readers stay interested! But going deeper into the books and straying entirely away from just StarClan, I think that we may need to get some new plotlines for the books! So maybe me and you could work together to write an article sometime because I think that we would work really well together! Thanks for spending time reading this Flicker!
great article! I also hate StarClan.😛
This is all so true :0 yet, I still don’t dislike them. Like, everyone makes mistakes. But you’re right about Juniperclaw, too. I think he deserved a place in StarClan for sacrificing his life, and I think Snowtuft should have had a second chance.
Butttt about the prophecies… wouldn’t it be terribly BORING if it was like *spoilers for AVOS* ‘hey guys btw Darktail is coming with a bunch of rogues, chase them off with the help of SkyClan who you can find if you walk..’ instead of ‘Embrace what you find in the shadows, if only they can clear the sky.’
Lol.
Lol, I realise this prophecy got translated wrong in romania, it says “Embrace what you find in the shadows, to clear the sky”.
Also, good article!
*for
“FOR only they can clear the sky” 😛
I’m sorry, I just finished reading AVoS and the prophecy is permanently ingrained in my mind…
Great article! I agree on all your points, like JUST TELL THE CATS WHAT THEY HAVE TO DO!!! Yet, I don’t really dislike StarClan. I just think they’re poorly written… you know what, I’ll go make a comment on the elders’ den right away! :3
Hate starclan, love yellowfang.
Wow I never even thought about how Moth Flight and Bluestar accused Leafpool but they were actually hypocrites… Great article Flicks!
This is actually really interesting! I’m excited for your next article!
yes! StarClan sucks so much! (no offense) I’m literally writing an entire fanfiction where some cats go ahead and destroy the entire code and StarClan because the old ways were too inflexible with the obsession with honor. Also, why five Clans instead of one. I understand that it makes more interesting plot lines, but I need an in universe explanation. Dawn of the Clans is caused by Clear Sky, a mouse brain, and a cryptic prophecy no one understands about the Blazing Star. There is no logic involved! The only thing keeping the Clans separate is *sighs* inertia, StarClan, and some twisted form of PATRIOTISM. Like, I understand separate countries in real life, because we live under different laws, but in warriors? They all follow the same code! So why? Besides to keep StarClan in power… StarClan has secretly been manipulating the Clans into needing them. Oh, and I just made a new conspiracy theory. Yay. At least Ashfur didn’t come up this time. Although the minor changes in the Broken Code weren’t enough. Destroy the code and the Clans, take some lessons from the Tribe of Rushing Water. You’ve got yourself a nice little utopia. But, Erin Hunter can’t make more money off new books! So the flawed system keeps going despite being obviously flawed to any cat with half a brain who wasn’t blinded by “honor” and this twisted “patriotism” that is an insult to actual patriotism.
