Alternative Warrior/Medicine Cat Names For Main Characters by Ruepaw

Ruepaw gives alternate names to some characters from the series.

Ruepaw/shadow here! Today I’m going to come up with alternative warrior/medicine cat names for the main characters of Warriors and go over the pros and cons of each one. Also, I’m currently on the fifth book in A Vision Of Shadows, so I won’t be doing all of the main characters because I don’t know all of them yet. I also won’t be doing the main characters of Dawn Of The Clans because I think their names already suit them perfectly.

First, we have Fireheart. Fireheart is a good name, but I don’t think it’s the very best name Bluestar could’ve given him, especially with endless suffixes available!
Alternative name: Firespark
Pros: Could portray that Firestar started off as a small spark that ignited into a fire. This would also add a headcanon that Sparkpelt was named after him.
Cons: I can’t really think of any, this name is perfect.
Alternative name: Firefly
Pros: I absolutely love this name, plus fireflies seem to glow in the dark, like a ginger cat would.
Cons: The name Firefly sounds sort of “soft” and doesn’t suit Fireheart too well, as fireflies are small and relatively weak.
Alternative name: Firefang
Pros: Sounds cool. It could also represent his friendship with Yellowfang.
Cons: This name makes it sound like he’s a cat that mostly fights using his teeth, but from what I’ve taken, he usually fights more with his claws.
Alternative name: Firelight
Pros: I like this name. It makes him sound like a source of hope, like a light in the darkness.
Cons: Like with Firespark, I really can’t think of any.

Next up, Brambleclaw. I never really liked the fact that his name was BrambleCLAW since his father’s warrior name was TigerCLAW, so it sort of sounded like Firestar was comparing him to his evil father (again!), so I’ve come up with alternatives.
