Testing Google Translate with Warrior names by Flickerbreeze

Flickerbreeze puts warrior names through Google Translate.

Ok, hi guys, it’s Flickerbreeze. I know I told you that I would write an article about Dovewing, but I wanted to take a break from so many hate articles. Instead, I’ll be doing something different. Today, I’m translating warrior names into Chinese and French and seeing if they’re accurate or not. Let’s go!!!!! For this article, all leader names will be replaced with their warrior names.

ThunderClan (Chinese, pinyin is next to the character)
Brambleclaw: 黑莓爪 (hei mei zhao), which means Blackberry Claw (????)
Sorreltail: 酢浆草 (cu jiang cao), which means sorrel (WHERE DID THE SUFFIX GO???)
Jayfeather: 杰伊费瑟 (jie yi fei se), which means Jay Feather (although I think they translated it literally)
Hollyleaf: 冬青叶 (dong qing ye), which means Holly Leaves (good!)
Ivypool: 常春藤池 (chang chun teng chi), which means Ivy Pool (ok, but did the name have to be that long?)

Crowfeather: 鸦羽 (ya yu), which means Crow Feather (ok…..)
Harespring: 兔泉 (tu quan), which means Rabbit Spring (close enough)
Talltail: 高尾 (gao wei), which means Takao (HUH????!!!! What does that mean???)
Onewhisker: 一根须 (yi gen xu), which means A whisker (laughing so hard right now. I mean he deserved a name like that)
Ashfoot: 阿什福特 (a shen fu te), which means Ashford (what…That’s not close enough)

Mudfur: 泥毛 (ni mao), which means Mud Hair (lol)
Feathertail: 羽尾 (yu wei), which means Feather Tail (alright fine, you got it right)
Mistyfoot: 迷雾脚 (mi wu jiao), which means Misty Feet (close…)
Mothwing: 蛾翼 (e yi), which means Moth Wings (that one was good)
Willowshine: 柳光 (liu guang), which means Liu Guang (ok google translate, are you even trying?)

This concludes the Chinese rounds. As you can see, most of the translations aren’t directly translated from the English names.

Needletail: Queue d’aiguilles, which means Needle Tail (i guess french is always more accurate)
Blazefire: Feu de flamme, which means fire flame (what…don’t they kinda mean the same thing)
Shadowsight: Vision de l’ombre, which means Shadow Vision (sounds so dark and evil)
Lightleap: Saut de lumière, which means Leap of Light (you mixed up the order, hello?)

SkyClan
Violetshine: Éclat de violette, which means Violet Burst (no, just no)
Rootspring: Source de racines, which means Sources of Root (what???)
Hawkwing: Aile de faucon, which means Falcon Wings (ok, we’re getting there)
Leafdapple: Pommelée, which means dappled (WHERE’S THE PREFIX???”
Sharpclaw: Griffe acérée, which means Sharp Claw (yes, finally a normal one)
