Should Mapleshade have gone to StarClan? by Ivorywhisper

Ivorywhisper wonders where Mapleshade should’ve gone for her afterlife.

Hi guys, I’m Ivorywhisper and today I will be talking about whether Mapleshade should have gone to the Dark Forest or StarClan.

Mapleshade is my favourite character in Warrior Cats. She has a very tragic past and is a very misunderstood character. She was once a ThunderClan cat but fell in love with a RiverClan warrior called Appledusk. They met at a Gathering and became very close. One day she found out she was expecting kits. She knew that if her Clan found out who the father was, she and her kits would be cast out, so she just told them that she would raise them alone. ThunderClan assumed the father was dead. Birchface had been killed not long ago in a battle for Sunningrocks. His sister, Frecklewish thought that he was Mapleshade’s mate. Mapleshade didn’t tell her this, but the Clan got in their heads that he was. Eventually, Mapleshade gave birth to Petalkit, Larchkit and Patchkit. These kits did not know who their true father was. One day she brought them to the river to swim. They were naturals. Ravenwing, ThunderClan’s medicine cat, saw them swimming and got suspicious. He had a sign from StarClan and told ThunderClan his suspicions on who the kits’ father really was. Mapleshade and her kits were banished. She tried to bring them to RiverClan, but her kits drowned in a swollen river when they tried to swim across. Mapleshade nearly drowned herself trying to save them. Appledusk blamed Mapleshade for their deaths and decided to have nothing to do with her anymore. Mapleshade left, her heartbroken, vowing vengeance. She began to have hallucinations of her kits drowning again and she believed that the only way they could go to StarClan was if the cats who killed them died. These were Ravenwing: Who told her secret, Frecklewish: Who watched her kits drown and did nothing to help, and Appledusk: Who turned her away. One by one she killed them. Each time she did a kit was ‘set free’. Mapleshade slit Ravenwing’s throat and lured Frecklewish to Snakerocks where a snake bit and killed her. Finally, she used Appledusk’s apprentice Perchpaw as bait and killed Appledusk when he went looking for him. Perchpaw finally kills Mapleshade when he bit the back over her neck and she died of blood loss.
