Bloomingpaw shares their thoughts on the graphic novel adaptation of The Prophecies Begin.
As a warriors fan and a huge fan of the first series I was super excited when I heard they were adapting the first series into graphic novels but what we got disappointed me
Disclaimer: this is my opinion not yours and I respect everyone’s different opinions on the graphic novel
so first I want to talk about the art of the new graphic novel. The art is absolutely stunning it did not disappoint and surpassed my expectations by a lot. The cats really look like how I think they look in my head from there descriptions. Sara Goetter and Natalie Riess did amazing.
Now lets get into the story and why its so disappointing (for me of course)
at first the story started off normal with few alterations so I was happy but as I continued to read it I noticed scenes I was looking forward to not to be there such as Cinderpaw’s accident, Fireheart meeting Princess (which was cut because they instead introduce her as being close to Fireheart still), Cloudkit joining Thunderclan, Graystripe and silver stream meeting in secret, Whiteclaw falling into the gorge, and others
if you watched bright guardian Akira’s video you would know they cut over 17 chapters out of fire and ice including major events this really disappointed me and honestly it feels like the graphic novel is just a modified retelling of into the wild and not what it is advertised as a into the wild and fire and ice retelling it feels like fire and ice was forced into to make the graphic novel just a bit longer when into the wild clearly needed its own graphic novel retelling
even though the warrior cats team has told us some these of missing events will be in the next graphic novel they will be most likely be rushed in so they can start the next two books story arc
what was your opinion on the new graphic novel???
did you like the story or was it disappointing for you as well??
did you enjoy the art??
tell me your opinion and why you have that opinion on the graphic novel
The art was good, but I was quite disappointed in how they cut the story.
Great article! I don’t know exactly how much they cut since I haven’t read Fire and Ice yet, but I have seen Bright Guardian Akira’s video. I’m sure a few things (aka Cinderpaw’s injury, Cloudkit’s arrival, Silverstream and Graystripe content, etc) will be included in the next graphic novel 🙂
It is a bit disappointing on how they cut it but I’m prettyyy sure that the next GN will have the rest of the Fire and Ice chapters.
Haven’t read it yet but your points are valid! Great article !!!!
I like the original better, but I absolutely LOVE graphic novel ravenpaw
I agree that the art was amazing and that, yes, it was disappointing to see so many chapters cut out, but we need to remember that this is an adaptation of only Into The Wild and Fire And Ice. Cloudkit doesn’t come into the picture until the later books in TPB, and Whiteclaw doesn’t die yet.
I am exited to see the next graphic novel, and all my pointers aside, great job on this article Bloomingpaw!
I also was very disappointed in the writing and cuts. Ever since DotC came out (2013-2015) I’ve progressively liked the arcs less and less. AVoS was a huge letdown and it felt like the only reason it was created was to shove SkyClan in. TBC was okay and redeemed the series a little bit. But after reading ASC, especially with Kate leaving, I have low expectations for the series and I’m not really sure I’ll continue reading it.
The art isn’t my fav… I mean it’s cute and all but I felt that it was inconsistent and it jumped around between panels without a smooth transition… I also think that they absolutely DESTROYED the story… and don’t even get me started on buff silverstream!!! In her official design it says VERY SPECIFICALLY that she is SLENDER! NOT BUFF!!!

I haven’t read it but I love spoilers for everything.💅🏻
I was a little disappointed in them not showing Whiteclaw’s fall into the gorge and a few other cut scenes but over all I was a little less pleased than I hoped I would be 🙁 so I totally agree
