Any tips for drawing cats digitally?
The wrong layer thing hit HARD. I’ve had to restart an entire drawing/painfully work around my mistakes in the past
I’m a relatively experienced digital artist (by “experienced” I mean I’ve messed around with a few platforms) and thanks for the tips!

I’d offer some, but I am pysically uncapable of drawing anything that doesn’t look like a shapeless blob.
i think it’s just a matter of learning your program! there are a lot of helpful youtube guides out there that explain all the features and stuff. i also recommend trying all sorts of tools and brushes to find what you like the best 😀 for cats, i guess, i would definitely use references (i find the muzzles hard, since they stick out, but i never know how far and how round they are, etc)!
I don’t normally sketch cats tbh so I can’t give any help on that 😛
Start with the ears. It just helps.
Use a big canvas
Think about the position and personality of your OC/cat you’re drawing. If it’s a shy, quiet cat, don’t draw it standing up confidently. If it’s an angry, evil cat, don’t have them sitting casually.
For shadows, set the opacity to 56 percent.

thiiiiiiiiiis is Cragtooth! old character of mine, same story as Mapleshine (if anyone remembers that dark brown tabby I drew a while back 😛 ). it says in her description that she’s a “chocolate-brown tabby with white stripes” but I didn’t really feel like drawing a tabby so I gave her two stripes and called it a day 😛
alsooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOO I got a tablet for my birthday and just yesterday I figured out how to get the pen stabilizers and pressure sensitivity stuff to work and I’m really excited to have lineart that actually looks good 😛

She looks great! I love darker-colored tabbies with white stripes, it’s so pleasing 😛 I also like the position of her stripes, it adds a cool touch! And congrats on the tablet – I’m assuming that will be making the linework a lot easier? 😛

In the future, when drawing humans, I’ve noticed that shading the face a LOT gives more depth :)) You’re so talented
