  • Kate!!! I have a writing question! What’s the rule when it comes to writing about brands? Say a character in my book ate M&Ms, am I in trouble by the candy company for using their product without permission??? It’s copyright right?

    • I’m afraid you’ll need a copyright expert to answer questions like that. I think if any company suspected you were making money from their brand, they’d want a cut of it….that’s kinda how corporations work…

      • Ahhh okay. Good . A moderator. I needed one.
        I filled out the allegiance form as an apprentice (Hazelpaw) since that’s the age I am. I think I need to change my name to “Hazelpaw” but I don’t know how to change my name. I could leave it as is but that would be confusing since I’m an apprentice with a warrior name… please help me figure out how to change it? I want it to be like Hazelpaw (Hazelspots) like how some people have their name. Thaaaannkksss.

        • That should be quite easy to complete – Just click on where your name is currently entered now and change it to whatever you desire! People do it all of the time. 🙂 If you need more help, I’d be happy to try and figure it out. 😀 (I don’t think it would be very confusing at all – I had my name as Iceflower or Icy when I was an apprentice, and it wasn’t very confusing for anyone. But it’s up to you! 🙂 )

  • Greetings from afar! Come the elections, comes a rare visit from Maple!

    First off I whole hardheartedly am behind Icy to win the elections. I committed myself to her long ago and she’s done nothing but further prove herself to be perfect for medicine cat. Except, she’s not the only one who deserves the title. I can’t say I’ve kept up with who is running, but Flo and Winter deserve it too. Not just because they’re my friends but because they truly are fit for the role. Now despite my support for my Ice darling, I bare the treacherous personality that admits the competitions strength. Specifically I had to speak out for Winter. I’ve watched him change over the years he’s been on the blog and he’s only grown to be more caring, compassionate, and committed. Currently Winter has his only life that pushes him away from the internet but despite that, he shows dedication to his chance at going from medicine cat apprentice, to medicine cat. Even when he’s stressed or has something to be upset about, he does his best to be cheery and kind in his own way. Winter’s put himself out there into situations giving him more experience with handling the delicate threads controlling us. Winter isn’t just another candidate, he’s an astounding candidate and deserving of our votes.

      While I’m delighted to hear you’re supporting my choice to run, I must wholeheartedly agree with you. Winter, Flo, Shiver, everyone has their qualities that could make them a wonderful medicine cat. (Including you. 😉 )

      This post was very sweet and very true. 🙂 I don’t know if you’ve returned for long, Maple, but you’ve got this wonderful ability to impact people in such a positive way, it’s quite astounding. 🙂 I’ll be keeping my eye out for you around here, but if I don’t happen to see you again for another long while, stay safe and stay happy, Maple. ❤

        While I fully understand your support for Icy and Winter, I just want to say that this is kind of an example of what not to do when picking your vote. You chose Icy before any of the candidates had their chance to prove to you that they have what it takes to be medicine cat, and it’s not fair to them. Icy and Win would both be amazing medicine cats, but you should at least give other people a chance. They might just surprise you, even into changing your vote. And you’re very close to both Icy and Win. There are some other amazing candidates out there that you might not know that well. Please don’t let the election turn into a popularity contest. That’s not the way things should work.

        And no, I’m not saying this because I think you should vote for me.

        • I understand what you’re saying, but Map’s support of Icy/Win isn’t because of their popularity- she’s seen what they’ve done and she’s allowed to support who she likes. Yes, each and every candidate is amazing and deserves a fair shot of proving themselves before votes are cast, but there’s nothing wrong with showing support to someone! 😀

        • Thanks Wave, though I doubt I’ll really stick around.

          I get where you’re coming from and in part I agree, but at the same time, not really. Icy is just about the nicest and sweetest person I know which is partly why I pushed her into running for medicine cat. To be totally honest if I hadn’t committed myself to her already I’d find it immensely difficult to chose someone to vote for. To add to that I’m not really back to blogclan so I’m not watching the hustlings or the election closely but I’m in the loop enough to know I want to vote. Also my support for medicine cat candidates isn’t just Icy and Winter. It’s for Flo, for you, for Shiver, for anyone else running. They’re just emphasized in my support because Icy I’ve committed to and Winter I talk with and realized his trouble with scheduling and blah, In truth I’d write a paragraph like that about every candidate I could. Now that I’m thinking about it, that’s actually quite possible.

          Trust me when I say I despise anything turning into a popularity contest and that’s not what I’m doing. I’m voting for Icy because I 100% know she deserves it and should be medicine cat. My life keeps me from closing going through the hustlings to see what people say but in my mind, my experience with people who are running helps me make an informed decision out of their personality and commitment not just who is my friend.

          I get the frustration that may come from people who decide who they’re voting for before a word leaves anyone else’s mouth, but I won’t be around to hear what everyone has to say and so I can only use what I know and what I know screams that Icy should be medicine cat.
