This is my numbat page. 🙂
The numbat (Myrmecobius fasciatus) is an insectivorous marsupial native to Western Australia and recently re-introduced to South Australia. The species is also known as the noombat walpurti, or banded anteater. Its diet consists almost exclusively of termites.
Numbats have a striking pattern of white stripes on rusty brown fur. They grow to about 25 centimetres long (not including the fluffy tail which adds a further 17 centimetres).
Sadly, there are fewer than 1,000 numbats left in the wild! 🙁 They are very endangered and need to be protected.
Numbats are very special, amazing animals. They are very cute and I want one. <3
Ohhhhhh, I see. They’re from Australia… Now everything makes sense. 😛

THATS SO ADORABLE I LOVE IT
🌈🌈🌈 awwww soooo adorable <333
What’s that thing the numbat is holding in his/her mouth in the picture? Is that his/her tongue?
Yes, that’s the numbat’s tongue. Numbats eat ants, so they have very long, thin tongues!
Aw, it’s so cute!
I had a dream how I went to the zoo and there were giant numbats there! They were the size of a goat. We weren’t supposed to touch them, but the numbats clearly disagreed with that rule because they came up to us and were rubbing against our legs. 😛
That’s strange 😛 And goat sized numbats sound cute but maybe a little scary 😛
Before you told me that the red thing was the numbat’s tongue, Pine, I honestly thought it was some sort of hoop thing 😛
It does look a lot like a hoop! I was so surprised when I first found out how long their tongues are! 😛
How long ARE their tongues?
11 centimeters. (I actually didn’t know that- I looked it up just now 😛 )
Oh ripp how many inches is that 😛 I always forget how to convert centimeters into inches 😛
4.3 inches.
I forget how to convert it, too, so I looked it up 😛Wow, that’s long :0
