    • Of course 300 words is okay. 300 words is like 2 short paragraphs.

Hey, Streamsplash! I’m writing something for the May/June Contests. It’s kinda emotional I think so can I also post it on here for ur contest?

    • So, I would like to join, but is it alright if it’s more of a few cats interacting, not clan cats, but loners who I came up with? Or should I make them clan cats?

    • Ok,this is one of my chapters from a story im writing with a friend, Forming Shadows, and its my saddest chapter.
After Weedtail and Skyjump left, it was mostly people yelling at me. Then, that yelling turned to tease. And that teasing turned to sleep. I had a mostly dreamless night, but one out of the two dreams I had kept coming back.
Two dark shapes appeared out of the woods, a big, bulky thing resting on their shoulders. As they came closer, Reedhawk recognized them. Well, one of them. Father and another one Reedhawk had never seen. The big bulky thing was…a deer? Wait, no. A……person? The person dipped out from underneath the thing, person, deer, whatever it was, leaving father to carry the weight alone. He was in front of me now. He threw the thing to the ground.
      “Son.” His voice boomed.
Reedhawk hesitantly drew closer to the thing. Yep. It was a person. A female, with dusty brown hair, and green eyes. Mother?
“Your mother was weak!” Father’s voice snapped me back to attention. He kicked her.
“You’ve always wanted to know how she died, didn’t you? Well, I killed her. She was weak, and only the strong survive!”
Reedhawk stared at him, in shock. Then that shock turns to anger, and that anger turns to rage.
“How could you!?” Reedhawk shouts, dropping to his knees.
“She was strong! She was stronger than you!” He shrieked.
“No. She was weak. Tigerblaze is strong. I am strong. And you….you have a chance to be strong, to hold more power then you could imagine. Join us, Reedhawk. Live where only the strong do.” His voice was sweet, yet filled with lies and hate. Reedhawk stood.
“No. You killed her. Why should I go to a place that kills innocents?”
“You’re no son of mine! Tigerblaze!” Another figure, Tigerblaze, walked into view.
When he saw mother on the ground, his face paled.
“What happened?” He cried, sitting next to her.
“I was showing Reedhawk how the strong survive and the weak die,” Father answered calmly.
      “But..but..how’s she here?” Tigerblaze stuttered.
“I killed her. I told you, the weak die, and the strong survive. Your mother was weak.”
When Tigerblaze’s mouth curved into a smile, Reedhawk thought he was won over.
“She was no weakling. She wasn’t a coward. You killed her! And for what price!?” Tigerblaze growled.
“I killed her for victory! I killed her for a new future! A future of the strong!” Father roared back.
“A future of the weak!” Tigerblaze snapped back. He stepped over to Reedhawk’s side.
“We fight together. The weak fight alone!” Father roared.
      “Yeah. You’re right.” Reedhawk said.
“You’re the weak. You fight alone. But we fight together.” He said firmly with a nod to Tigerblaze.
After that, it was fighting. Sons against father. Father against sons. A while later, Tigerblaze had a deep gash across his face, and a long cut running down his leg. Reedhawk had a twisted foot, a cut across his eye, and a deep slice in his chest. They were bleeding badly, but not as bad as their father. He was battered, torn, sliced, and cut until he lay limp. Tigerblaze grabbed their father’s sword, posing it above his throat.
      “Wait,” Reedhawk said.
“We’d be just as evil as him if we killed him. What would mother want?”
“She would want mercy,” Tigerblaze responded.
“Let’s go,” Reedhawk said, and they left the almost dead body of their father behind.
(Ps, it’s mostly all in a dream)

  • Well, here’s the story I came up with. It didn’t turn out quite sad, it’s more of a mix of how emotions can change, but I tried adding a bittersweet ending…
    Characters:
    Raven- lean black she-cat
    Fox- Reddish brown tabby tom

Lips parted in hopes of catching the smell of prey Raven stalked through the tall grass. All around her the forest seemed to be bustling with life, birds chirping in the air, bugs flying right and left, and the soft humming of bees accompanying her on her hunt. Unknown to the jet-black she-cat not far from her stood the cat who she blamed for ruining her life. But for the moment she enjoyed the excitement of the hunt, her eyes darting everywhere, but it seemed like all prey had disappeared. The soft steps of someone else made Raven glance up, and her eyes widened when she caught sight off a reddish brown tabby coat. Almost instantly she unsheathed her claws, scared that it might be an intruder, and fluffed out her thin coat. It didn’t help much, no matter how much she fluffed her pelt, the thin, short hairs hardly made her look bigger than usual. In a flash of ginger the tom stepped out from the undergrowth, and Raven quickly realized who he was.
-Fox,- she spat, glaring up at the much bigger tom, with anger filled amber eyes. Unfazed the tabby stepped closer, a hint of excitement in his eyes, caused by the unexpected meeting with his past mate.
Exactly one moon ago, the two cats had broken off whatever relationship they once had, but while Fox didn’t feed any bad feelings towards Raven, the she-cat bristled even at the name of the tom.
-Raven.- Fox nodded at Raven. The emotionless voice that Fox spoke in only angered Raven further and for a few seconds she thought of attacking the tom.
-What are you doing here?- Raven asked, stepping closer to the tom. Like always, a part of her still yearned for him, but the fact that Fox had left her alone, in the middle of the forest stopped Raven from once again developing feelings for Fox, or atleast that’s what she told herself. Instead, what had once been love had turned into hate and more than once did she dream of sinking her claws into his pelt, in hopes of revenge. But she never acted upon her anger, Raven was never one to follow her heart without thinking it through first.
-Just traveling through,- Fox admitted, and for the first time since seeing him Raven realized how thin he was. His fur clung to his skinny frame, and his eyes seemed unnaturaly dull. Something stirred inside Raven at this realization and she had to realize, maybe she had been unfair with Fox. What if, the tom really thought as he had once said, that he wasn’t good enough for Raven? Tilting her head to the side, Raven thought over her choices. -May I ask what you’re thinking about?-
-Fox, I know we didn’t leave things off well. But what do you say if I suggest that you rest here for a few days, and I can hunt for you. You can’t possibly be thinking about traveling in this state,- when she said this she pointed at his ribs with her tail. The ginger tom stayed silent for a second. Then hope appeared in his deep green eyes, and a purr broke out of him.
-If it wouldn’t be a problem to you, I would take up your offer.- he meowed, then walked closer to Raven. The she-cat watched him closely, but there was no going back. Whatever walls she had built against Fox, the tom seemed to have broken them down in seconds, and for the first time she didn’t feel alone. Not anymore, when she had her trusted partner next to her. Something had changed between the two, one lost soul met the other lost soul, and Raven couldn’t stop the single tear that pricked her eye. At that time neither of them knew how in the upcoming years they would stick together, through thick and thin, when Raven’s first litter dies, when they watch their kits grow up and when they once again have to meet death. All they knew was that somehow they got the chance to meet once again, and how they couldn’t let that chance slip away from them.
