First debate topic: Ashfur!
Is Ashfur a good cat and should he be in Starclan or The Dark Forest?
Ashfur should go to StarClan
• he was a loyal warrior
• he only tried to kill squirrelflight’s kits because she was mates with brambleclaw but she could be mates with him because she didn’t have kits
• he was majorly in love with squirrelflight. He had no cross-Clan relationships.
• he was only rough with Lionblaze because he thought his parents squirrelflight and brambleclaw, and he was still in love with squirrelflight
• he never broke the code, except for trying to kill Lionblaze, Jayfeather, and Hollyleaf
He wasn’t a loyal warrior. He plotted the murder of Firestar with Hawkfrost. Attempting to kill Lionblaze, Jayfeather, and Hollyleaf is a pretty big no-no if we’re looking at the Warrior Code here. 😛 Most of the time the cats don’t get a strike system or something. If they break it once they’re out. I’d much rather him have a cross-clan relationship than attempt murder. Attacking your student because you love her mother and she doesn’t return those feelings is not a good excuse. If my teacher had a crush on my mom and purposefully gave me a bad grade or something because of it they would be punished and I’d be moved from their class, most likely.
The Dark Forest.
Reasons are incoming.
– His actions weren’t just threats, if they were, it would be in a completely safe environment that ensures safety, not a trap in a fire.
– His motive was extremely petty. In real life, people go through breakups and rejection, but does that make them insane killers? No!
– Squirrelflight tried to tell him she just wanted to be friends. She tried to be kind to him! What’s wrong with pursuing the cat you love most? Nothing! If you ask me, being unhappy to satisfy others is worse.
– He even tried to kill cats that weren’t even directly involved in the situation.
– He used brutal killing methods, such as strangling (indirect) and burning to death (direct).
– He made a much more innocent cat watch her “kits” burn to death.
– The only reason he let go of Hollyleaf, Jayfeather, and Lionblaze is because he found a better way to hurt Squirrelflight.
StarClan
Reasons:
1: He never actually killed, only threatened to. How many cats have ever done that? Lots.
2: He helped save Firestar. When he was trapped, Ashfur ran and got help instead of killing him.
3: He was a loyal warrior. Never had a cross-clan relationship, or a secret hunting patrol in a different territory.
4: He helped with the dog pack. He helped get rid of then, risking his life in the process.
5: Love made him do crazy things. StarClan knew this, I’m pretty sure Squirrelflight knew this.
Ashfur planned with Hawkfrost to kill Firestar. Firestar lost a life, so he did technically kill him. Love isn’t an excuse for killing the father of who you’re in love with? And threatening and almost going through with murder on her children.
Squirrelflight is her own being- someone else’s crush shouldn’t be controlling what she feels.
If u don’t mind me saying,
He probably only got help so no one was sus on him
Ashfur should go to StarClan
– he never actually killed, if he had been truly malicious then he still would’ve killed the kits after finding out they weren’t Squirrelflight’s
– he was kinda treated like he didn’t exist. Squirrelflight went off with Brambleclaw without any reason given. Having Lionblaze as an apprentice was just kinda rubbing salt in the wound
– he was encouraged to take revenge at an early age by Firestar no less- avenging his mother’s death from the dogs
– the ultimate guide states he was actually a very loyal warrior and mentored Lionblaze pretty well
– he was manipulated and I’m not sure his thoughts were his own. He was sad and slightly angry. Hawkfrost pounced on that. He I believe was the reason for Ashfur’s actions
He helped kill Firestar. Just because Firestar has multiple lives doesn’t take away from that. I’ve had people reject me and ghost me (basically what Squirrel did). What I didn’t do is go after everyone they loved and if I had to interact with their child I’d treat the child with respect and care. The dog plot and Brindleface’s death wasn’t the best plan, I agree. From what we’ve seen in the books, he did not treat Lionblaze well. A blurb from the Ultimate Guide won’t really change that. The manipulation did encourage his behavior and that’s awful, but Hawkfrost died and years later Ashfur continued hurting Squirrelflight. He just bided his time.
Hawkfrost’s influence must have changed Ashfur. Just because he’s dead doesn’t mean he’s gone
True. Still, ultimately it was Ashfur’s choices that made him end up where he was.

Bramble doesn’t deserve Squirrel, nor does Ashfur, or any other tom.
Anyways,
Lion trains in the Darkforest.
So does Crookedstar(As a kit,)
Bramble,
Ivypool, and many others.
The good ones get forgiven.
(Yes, i KNOW Ivy was a spy but at the start she DID believe Hawk’s lies.)
And i am NOT saying training in the dark forest makes a cat bad.
Unless the darkforest trained cat passes the line.
But where is this line and does Ash pass it?
Reasons:
He DOES kill Firestar.
But, does he feel genuine guilt and horror when he runs for help,
Or is he just trying to impress Squirrel?

He should go to the dark forest because:
He plotted to kill Firestar with Hawkfrost.
He was hard on his apprentice even though his apprentice was not Squirrelflight.
He always wanted to take revenge on Squirrelflight.
He threatened to spill the secret at the gathering that Squirrelflight was not the mother of Lionblaze, Hollyleaf and Jayfeather.
Wouldn’t ANY loyal cat try totell the clans about Squirrelflight,

Dark Forest
1. He threatened to kill 4 cats, I know he didn’t but he was clearly willing to
2. He couldn’t control his emotions and that hurt a lot of cats
3. He helped Hawkfrost with the fox trap almost killing Firestar
4. Squirreflight talked to him many times explaining that she was in love with Brambleclaw, instead of accepting it he spent the rest of his life being bitter about it
5. He was very manipulative, he could never understand that Squirrelflight can Mae choices by herself and always begged her to love him.
a ghost. Here’s why.
If they let him into StarClan Ashfur would regret everything for the rest of his life. No one would like him, nor trust him, nor have any chance of redemption.
He doesn’t deserve the DF cause he DIDN’T DO ANYTHING REALLY WRONG! He got caught up in a moment, and everything can change in a moment. 2 of the 3 could’ve died in a moment. It could change everything. But no one was lost for good, just Ashfur. He already paid for his mistake.
If he was a ghost, however, he could see the world from a different point of view. He could see all the bad things in life, and how what he did was not that awful. He could see what the impact of them not dying was, and feel grateful for all of ThunderClan that he didn’t do it.
Also he could hook up with Spiresight and Scourge 😛 I can imagine them all being best buddies and playing role play together. Spiresight would be able to do telekinesis, Scourge would be a super strong knight and Ashfur would be able to control water and snow.

Best reasons for Starclan: I had a hard time deciding between Wildpaw and Redblaze but.. Redblaze wins for Starclan!
Best reasons for DF: also was hard to choose between Brightspark and Leafpool517 but Brightspark wins for DF!
And Shatteredmask gets a point because no one else thought of ghost and I forgot about it

Sandstorm
– Fire and Sand was actually a developed couple unlike Spotted and Fire
– They HAD KITS TOGETHER. They had Leafpool and Squirrelflight (and Firestar sorta named Leafkit after Spottedleaf 😬)
– They supported and cared for each other. In the last hope, Sandstorm didn’t want Firestar to use his last life
– They hated each other and grew to love each other. This happens a lot in stories but I love this example.

I think Spottedleaf (controversial I know)
– Firestar never stops loving Spottedleaf, this is shown when her spirit dies
– Firestar is actually kinda a jerk to Sandstorm in Firestar’s quest when she accuses him of loving Spottedleaf and he basically agrees with her XD
– Spottedleaf did truly love him, she sacrificed herself for his happiness
– He said he wanted to be in StarClan with her
I think Sandstorm
-Their relationship was more developed.
-Firestar and Sandstorm had kits together.
-They were allowed to be together, so they don’t have to go through the troubles of a forbidden relationship.
-They were together for a long time.
-Sandstorm supported Firestar before the battle against Scourge.

– They’ve got kits together
– She compliments him much more than Spottedleaf would. Firestar is pretty soft and Sandstorm is rather tough.
– They’ve been together since the first (?) series
– Prior to her second death, Spottedleaf had already made the decision to step back from Firestar
– It’s just much more developed in general
I do think some SpottedFire aus are cute though
Gonna be controversial and say Cinderpelt 😛
She’s too good for Firestar but still…
-Their personalities balance each other out well. Cinderpelt is determined and stubborn whereas Firestar is more pliable but still has a fiery spark.
-They are both adventurous and work well as a team. Firestar and Cinderpelt had a really good mentor and apprentice bond, so much that Cinderpelt didn’t want to become a medicine cat and desperately wanted to keep training to be a warrior.
-They trust each other a lot and care about each other. Firestar would confide his worries in Cinderpelt and trusted her and Graystripe to look after the clan when he went to find skyclan.
-Cinderpelt loves him enough to never tell him how much she cared and was still happy for him when he was with Sandstorm. She was also kind and friendly with Leafpaw even though it must have hurt her to see Sandstorm’s kit and didn’t try to burn her alive *cough* Ashfur *cough*
I love Cinderpelt so much and this was such a struggle to write since I haven’t read TPB for over 3 years. 😛
I ship Fire x Sand more but I wanted to do Cinderpelt because no one else has done her so far! 😀
Spottedleaf.
– Seriously Sandstorm? You taunt Firestar for his origins that he COULDN’T CONTROL and now you love him?
– Spottedleaf wanted Firestar to be happy, and sacrificed her place in StarClan for Sandstorm, not the opposite way around
– Sandstorm was too feisty, and Firestar always felt like he needed to impress her. Spottedleaf just loved Firestar naturally
– Another forbidden couple would be interesting, and it would make Firestar less of a ‘Gary Stu’ XD

~Sandstorm was a better match for him. He didn’t love her as much as he did Spottedleaf, but that’s good cause then we would have a Morningstar situation which NOBODY WANTS.
