Has anyone read A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder by Holly Jackson?
No but you intrigued me
I haven’t been able to get my hands on it since it’s so popular, but it’s definitely at the top of my tbr!
Yes and I LOVED IT! Have you read it?
Yeah I did and I loved it too!
YESSSSS ITS SOOO GOOD!!! I love the whole series sooo much, holly jackson is such a good author and i love so much about the series shdfshjd
They’re also making a tv show about it! :DD
ooh yeah, I saw the trailer on Netflix, it looked really gooddd 😀
It’s such a good series, right? It’s so mysterious! In my opinion, those books are the best modern-day crime stories!
And they are making a show about it????? WOW I HAVE TO WATCH THAT!!!!
I literally just finished that. I LOVED it!!!
Did you guess who the killer was or did it surprise you?
No, but I want to.
Yesss!! I got the chills so many times, but I haven’t read any of the sequels yet…
Yes!! One of my favorites!
yes!! i read the whole trilogy and i loved it. the first one was the best, and i didn’t LOVE the ending, but overall they were great books. i could hardly put them down
MEEEEEEEEE
I own the whole series! Who is your favourite character? 😀
No but it sounds incredible lol
Yep! Excited to watch the show as well
Yep! I read the first one!
How do you guys feel on the WinterXQibliXMoon love triangle in WOF? In my opinion, I think Moon never should have had a love interest, and I also think that Qibli was bad for Moon and Winter is way too overhated.
Moonbli was one of the only things I liked about WoF, I thought much of the series was just really overrated, that’s why I stopped reading it. Moonbli, Blicket, and Glorybringer were my favorites though
I really like it! Though I think that Winterwatcher is the only one that should not happen.
I honestly think that Moon did not need a love interest.
that’s valid. I LIKE the Moonbli ship but I wish that literature didn’t rely so much on all the main characters getting a partner or having a bunch of love triangles. Just once I’d like to see the main character not get a love interest and be fine with it
i actually liked Moon and Qibli together. he calms her fears and gets her to come out of her comfort zone AND he makes her laugh which is always a plus. and she saw the parts of him he kept hidden and liked him anyway. she gets him to calm down as well lol. i think the problem with Winterwatcher is that while Moon would be good for him, Winter would not be good for her. besides male/female friendships should be appreciated. that’s just my thoughts though
I don’t like Moonbli because throughout the arc, Moon just becomes Qibli’s moral compass, and all his thoughts just revolve around what Moon would think or feel or do in an unhealthy way. Qibli also told Winter to hide the fact that his tribe was dying to “spare Moon’s feelings”. Obviously, Winter blew up and yelled at Moon (Which she did not deserve, but Winter obviously wasn’t in the right mental state after an attempted and successful attempt at a genocide), and all Qibli could think of was “This was the side of Winter I didn’t like”. Yes, Winter was more abrasive and aggressive than Qibli, but he was the most reasonable. I like Winter because his flaws are treated as flaws. Whenever he is in the wrong, it is pointed out very obviously, but when Qibli makes a mistake, arguably worse than Winter’s, it is written off and cast to the side.
(Wow this was very long)
This is actually a really interesting perspective! I agree ^^ It feels similar to Cleril, where Pearl’s entire life revolved around Clay.
Ooh, yes!! I love Chasing Peril partly because it allowed Peril to separate herself from her dependency on others. It stems from her issues with Scarlet, but she went from depending on the queen to depending on Clay. I really think it was great for Peril to get her own friends and gain some autonomy and i’m totally reading into this children’s book too much aren’t i
That’s a great perspective I hadn’t thought of. I think some of the issue with Qibli’s flaws is that they were showcased in his own book, which makes them hard to discern. Especially when he keeps seeing himself in the wrong for everything. I don’t think Moon really became his moral compass, at least not entirely, because when he was faced a choice with Darkstalker he chose by himself. I’ll have to reread that part to see if Qibli was focused on Moon in that decision, but that’s what I’m going with now
Quinter
Yessss
I like Moonbli, it’s pretty cute, but Quietbreeze made some valid points about that ship that made me rethink it a bit.
I don’t like Winterwatcher. I like Winter as a character and Moon is pretty alright too, but from what I remember, Winter seemed pretty outwardly toxic towards Moon despite the feelings he might have for her and he also just doesn’t seem like what she needs in a relationship?
That’s what I meant when I said that while Moon would be good for him, Winter wouldn’t be good for her. I think they’re better as friends but in an actual relationship I don’t think it would have worked out
Winterwatcher is wayyyyyyy to overhated. I never shipped it that much but honestly I thought it was sweet 🙂 I don’t like Moonbli ’cause I don’t really like Quibli *dodges flying alligators* but my ship preferences are more than a little questionable so probably check with someone else 😅😅😅
Haven’t really read it, but I think people ship Qinter, right? Since I’m not a fan of Moon as a character I’d like that to happen though I haven’t read it in YEARS so correct me if the ship is terrible or something 😛
Anyone here read the dragon realm series?
Nada maybe I’ll read them
I picked up A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder after hearing about it so much and, yeah, it was good fun! I didn’t predict the plot twists and it was also really nice to read something set in the UK where I live for once!
Harry Potter!!!!!!! Wings of Fire!!!!!!!!! Soul Fire (my book)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HP for sure :3
what’s Soul fire about? never heard of it, but the title sounds good :3
Every time someone mentions the book ‘Loveless’ by Alice Oseman (which was written by the same creator as ‘Heartstopper’ by the way), I always think of the MBV album of the same name. 😛
i have never heard of that album but Loveless is a great book
In my opinion, The Underland Chronicles (Gregor The Overlander, etc.) is the most underrated series of all time. Has anyone else read it? (praying to StarClan)
I have! Super fun read. It’s one of my favorite middle grade fantasy books!
I’ve read it and I completely agree.
YESYESYESYESYES I’TS AMAZING FINALLY SOMEONE ELSEEEE
I just finished reading The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet and it was a blast! There’s just something very comforting about the writing and the way the characters are developed. A lot of warm fuzzies from this one. It also does a good job of developing different species, which I feel like is something a lot of sci fi falls short on.
I’d recommend it for sci fi fans ages ~14 and up, as there is fairly frequent discussions of sexual content, though nothing depicted explicitly on page, and a lot of swearing.
I’ve been looking at reading that for a while now! I’m glad to hear you enjoyed it
I’d definitely recommend it!
anyone read The Three Body Problem by Cixin Liu? my parents are urging me to read bigger works or the classics instead of what they call “this generation’s trash”. I am trying to explain to them that not all books that I read are trash, but I don’t think it’s working.🤦♀️
but anyway, I searched TTBP up, and I think I may read it sometime. to anyone who’s read it: is it worth checking out?
YES! DEFINITELY! As far as I remember, there isn’t aren’t inappropriate scenes, with the exception of a bit of swearing and violence near the beginning. The book was translated from Chinese, so there are some grammatical errors, and (for me at least) I had a hard time understanding all the vocabulary. Still, the concept is intriguing, albeit a bit confusing, and I’d say it’s definitely worth checking out.
I’ve read it! It’s quite good, I really enjoyed it.
if you’re parents are making you read books that are translated from chinese, i would recommend life and death in shanghai. it doesn’t contain swearing, just some mild violence and politics and stuff
it was actually good though
Anyone else obsessed with The Hunger Games?
Not obsessed, but I’ve read all the books and seen all the movies and I think they’re very good.
Yup. I memorized The Hanging Tree lyrics 😛
Well, I’m not exactly obsessed, but I did really enjoy reading them.
Sort of but I haven’t read all of them 😛
Yes, I have read all the books and seen every movie. Second favorite series defiantly.
Not obsessed, but the books were cool 😀
When I was like 13, yes, but these days it’s my Swiftie friends irl who are obsessed 😛
Slightly obsessed. Read all the books and watched all the movies more than 3 times. Also memorized the Hanging tree lyrics and learned how to play the melody on the violin.
Any book recommendations?
Age: 12-16
Genre: any is fine but maybe more fantasy romance ish?
I don’t mind if there’s like lots of romance or like violent stuff and swearing.
They Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera killed me, idk if it’s your type but it’s romance and I promise you’ll forever be scarred if you read it
even the name is pain xD
The Cruel Prince by Holly Black, Lore by Alexandra Bracken, Silver in the Bone by Alexandra Bracken, Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo, Daughter of Sparta by I can’t remember, and y’know what I’ll stop there 😅😅😅
Oh I have one that’s perfect! It’s called Hooky and it’s by Miriam Bonastre Tur. It’s really good and it’s like fantasy/adventure/romance and it’s my obsession rn. It’s also a graphic novel and the character designs are so cute! So yeah, I totally recommend it lol.
Has anyone ever read the Lightfall series or Drizzle? I think both are really good! Lightfall is a graphic novel tho. Both of them are around middle grade level! I would recommend them for 11-14 year olds. Another good book I would recommend is Island of the Blue Dolphins. It’s a really good book for 10-14 year olds.
Hello I’m new! Has anyone read Hooky by Miriam Bonastre Tur? (It’s my current obsession lol)
I have! And it’s so good! Who’s your favorite character? Mine are Monica & Nico.
