Need a break from the hubbub of the rest of the blog? Or perhaps you just want a quiet page to discuss Warriors in depth. In any case, feel free to unwind in the Elders’ Den!
[a very fluffy grey cat with thick fur around its neck, long whiskers, and yellow eyes stares into the camera]
What exactly is this page, then? It’s a place to discuss, in detail, particular aspects of the Warriors series – to pick apart ideas and themes that perhaps either get overlooked elsewhere or require a nuanced perspective. And more broadly, it’s a quiet refuge away from the bustle of the rest of the blog!
If there is a more serious subject you’d like to discuss within the Warriors universe, remember to remain respectful of what people are saying and to handle the topics in question with the necessary care and respect. Does this mean this is a page solely for discussing controversial topics? Of course not, but rather if they appear, the mods ask that everyone involved remain calm and thoughtful – should a discussion verge too far into argument territory, we may step in and put an end to it.

If you’re looking for a general place to talk about Warriors but you feel like your comment doesn’t quite fit the Elder’s Den, check out the Sunning Patch!
AAA NEW PAGE MAKIN HISTORY
Hey, am I the fourth?
I’ve wanted a page like this foreverrrr!!!! Yaaassss queen!!!!
Oh I actually kinda like baby me 😛 actually letting my true personality show, Im proud of my self >:D (Iykyk)
Do you think that the Erins promote too many unhealthy and toxic relationships in the series? Eg; TigerXDove, PineXLeopard, SpottedXThistle
yup
Yes, I do. Although the Erins might have their own opinion on this for instance ‘they are just cats; its fine to have an age gap’ but I just think that would be BOGUS. The books are lit describing either that they are uncomfortable with the relationship, hence SpottedxThistle and basically almost normalizing harassment, or that this relationship is just isn’t great. (PinexLeapord, TigerxDove) short answer: please stop this, Erins.
Is Tigerdove toxic?
Yes. It’s incredibly abusive, the way Tigerstar shuns her!
Shuns? Is this a Broken Code thing? I’m only on a Silent Thaw and so far they seem like a basic couple?
1200000000% yes it is
Yes, yes they do
TigerXDove was definitely abusive. Tigerheart was incredibly manipulative.
With PineXLeopard, while I don’t *love* the age gap, the difference between it and SpottedXThistle is that Leopardfoot was a full adult when she had Pinestar’s kits. She was making her own choices, so I can’t really find anyone at fault. Though the age gap is weird and unnecessary, Erins!!
The biggest issue with SpottedXThistle is that it is shown from the view of the victim. I think the Erins WERE genuinely trying to display it as bad, but that’s very hard to do from the victim’s point of view
yes, definitely
Yeah maybe?
What’s wrong with TigerDove?

Hello! New page yayyyyyy hi
Is it just me or does the cat in the first picture kinda look like an evil Graystripe?
:000 IT DOES!!!
That’s… Absolutely terrifying 😛
Not evil, IMO, but VERY SERIOUS and NOBLE.
This is such a wonderful idea!
I know right?! Thanks for thinking of this page WhiteWhiskers!
Hi everyone. I was the one who proposed this page initially, so I thought I should say hello. I am WhiteWhisker, and I am an elder both in clan terms and in real life. I am a retired technical writer and an active music composer. I have loved cats all my life (I have two right now—Spoons and The Captain). I started reading Warriors last summer after they were recommended to me by members of the TinyKittens Unite group on Facebook. I just Finished aVoS and am currently reading Squirrellflight’s Hope. I hope everyone enjoys the Elders’ Den. Kits and apprentices are welcome, and I won’t ask anyone to pick my ticks or change my bedding.
Hi WhiteWhiskers!! Nice to meet you!
It’s so cool you suggested this! I love music, much respect for you!!
Thanks for this page! And I’d love to hear some elder stories 😛
What do you guys think of the rule in the code that denotes that a kittypet life should be shunned?
I personally think it’s absolute rubbish. It causes a prejudice towards cats who are, we’re formerly or wish to become kittypets, and it promotes the notion that cats are bound to Clan life and they shouldn’t deviate from the traditional Clan lifestyle. I think the inclusion of daylight warriors in the lake Clans or normalising cats having the ability to choose their lifestyles is a step the warriors Clans should take, but mind you, having some silly code rules do spice things up a bit in the plot 😛
I completely agree. It annoys me so much to see the way that Clan cats constantly shun and mistreat cats like figure, kittypets, loners, etc. Warriors are so freaking scornful and proud. Like your lives aren’t so great you diseased oversized rats /j And the way that the kittypets are portrayed as weak – like are you kidding me. I hate ittt
I do agree, but I don’t think it should be completely shunned. If the clans let in too many outsiders, what will they become?
The clans should respect other lifestyle choices, definitely.
I hate how kittypets are seen as inferior- they’re not! Kittypets just prefer to live a simpler life! There’s nothing bad about that- warriors are way to proud.
In one way, the rule is senseless, because any clan cat who decides to leave their clan to become a kittypet is not going to care about violating the code.
But Warriors are different from kittypets (or rogues or loners): different, but not necessarily better. They depend on themselves and their clanmates for their well being and survival. They vow to defend the clan and the clan defends them, from kit to elder. Kittypets depend on their housefolk for their food and safety, and only have as much freedom as their housefolk allow. As Shanti told Pinestar, kittpets have loyalty and honor. They are loyal to their housefolk and they choose to stay at their dens. Cloudtail found that it was impossible to live with one paw in the clan and one paw in the twoleg world.
Daylight warriors sort of worked and sort of didn’t for Skyclan in the gorge. Daylight warriors weren’t there to fight when Darktail and his rogues attacked the clan. Of all the surviving daylight warriors, only one decided to go with the clan to find the Lake territories. The rest found that their loyalty to their housefolk was more important than their loyalty to the clan.
That is fair, perhaps in a more tense situation in the lakeside Clans, daylight warriors would be harder as their life style is more intense 😛 I see what you’re saying there
But yes, I agree with what you’re saying. The thinking by Clan cats that their life/bloodline is superior to other cats who may’ve come from a kittypet background, or warriors who chose to become kittypets. In Ravenpaw’s case, however, he became a kind of half kitty-pet, and he was accepted by ThunderClan, presumably because Firestar was leader. However, I’ve noticed a pattern that after Firestar’s death, with no super influential cats in the cat who have lived the life of a kittypet and enjoyed it, or were friends with Firestar when he was an apprentice, the Clan has become less accepting of kittypets as a whole. When Greystripe was away and Cloudtail was in the elders den, the news of Snaptooth and Flywhisker becoming kittypets infuriated ThunderClan, presumably because they never said goodbye or because they lost warriors. However, keep in mind that ThunderClan had excess of 50 warriors in TBC, and from memory, Flipclaw was painted as ‘honourable’ or something for choosing to come back to the Clans. Plus, their whole adventure in TBC was to see if they belonged the Clan or not 😛
Clan cats just act unreasonably in situations where kittypets join their Clan or Clan cats leave their Clan to be kittypets (I’m not saying what Pinestar did was right because he basically ran away without bothering to put any effort into anything, but moreso what Snaptooth and Flywhisker, who did try and put effort into the Clan and found it wasn’t for them, and the way they were painted in the series)
I have not read TBC yet, so I can’t comment on that, but BrambleStar, in BS’s Storm, gave refuge to kittypets during the flood, fell in love with one (Jessy) and allowed one (Frankie—>Stormcloud) to join the clan.
