Need a break from the hubbub of the rest of the blog? Or perhaps you just want a quiet page to discuss Warriors in depth. In any case, feel free to unwind in the Elders’ Den!
[a very fluffy grey cat with thick fur around its neck, long whiskers, and yellow eyes stares into the camera]
What exactly is this page, then? It’s a place to discuss, in detail, particular aspects of the Warriors series – to pick apart ideas and themes that perhaps either get overlooked elsewhere or require a nuanced perspective. And more broadly, it’s a quiet refuge away from the bustle of the rest of the blog!
If there is a more serious subject you’d like to discuss within the Warriors universe, remember to remain respectful of what people are saying and to handle the topics in question with the necessary care and respect. Does this mean this is a page solely for discussing controversial topics? Of course not, but rather if they appear, the mods ask that everyone involved remain calm and thoughtful – should a discussion verge too far into argument territory, we may step in and put an end to it.

If you’re looking for a general place to talk about Warriors but you feel like your comment doesn’t quite fit the Elder’s Den, check out the Sunning Patch!
Time for another one of my rants!
(Should I make this a series? ‘Sacrificial She-cats’?)
Sacrificial She-cats #2
The cat I am going to rant about today is…Silverstream.
I have a soft spot of some sort for her because of how tragic her death was. Some may argue that it was for the best, and all Silverstream would’ve faced in the years to come would be harassment from her Clanmates because of having a mate in another Clan. This could be true, but Silverstream was incredibly young when she died of blood loss kitting Graystripe’s kits, Feathertail and Stormfur. They would grow up to be amazing warriors, even though they didn’t stay with the Clans for long.
I personally ship GrayXSilver, not GrayXMillie. I was glad Graystripe found another mate, but I truly believe that Graystripe loved Silverstream more. Silverstream was his first love, after all. I’d love to see Forest of Secrets in Silverstream’s perspective. I’d bet, in RiverClan, she was obsessing over Graystripe just as Graystripe was obsessing over her. One of the most meaningful quotes to me from The Prophecies Begin is one from her. It says, “But Fireheart…I love him.” It’s just pure love, and even when we catch glimpses of Silverstream from StarClan we see that love for Graystripe burning in her eyes. Graystripe’s mate may have been Millie, but his heart was always with Silverstream, much like what Silverstream felt for Graystripe.
After both journeys to the sun-drown-place, Silverstream’s kits, Feathertail and Stormfur, did not come back to the Clans. One dead, the other a new Tribe cat. The dream she sent Stormfur when they were sheltering in the cave with Talon, Bird, and Rock instantly soothed Stormfur and just the sound of Silverstream’s voice assured Stormfur that he had to return to the Tribe of Rushing Water and save them from Sharptooth. When Feathertail died saving the Tribe from Sharptooth, Stormfur doubted his mother’s words. But when the Clans moved into the lake territory next to the mountains, he knew it was a sign that both StarClan and The Tribe of Endless Hunting where watching over him and his new Tribemates.
I like to imagine that when Graystripe died, he and Silverstream found each other in StarClan and lived a happy afterlife, watching over the Clans at peace.
Okay, that’s the end of my rant!
Keep an eye out for “Sacrificial She-cats #3”!
What is your opinion on Silverstream?
I ship GrayxSilver over GrayxMillie, but to me her death wasn’t too heart-touching. I just don’t like her character; she thinks she can get away from anything because her father was leader, and she was incredibly rude and stubborn towards Leopardfur in Leopardstar’s Honor.
I love Gray x Silver and Silverstream, and her death shook me :3
The way Silverstream died was similar to how mothers died at birth. And yet the fandom hates her for how she died, because it make her seem “pathetic.” I suppose a lot of dead mothers are pathetic then. Nice job warrior cats fandom achieved toxicity once again. First Ferncloud, now Silverstream. Who’s next, Brightheart?
I agree, all of the mothers that died kitting are shown as pathetic, when their deaths are really brave
Thx Firekit. I don’t totally like Silverstream, but her death was not pathetic.
I adore Silverstream! She’s one of my favourite characters <33 Her sarcastic, determined, yet loving personality was so much fun to read about. I was so angry when Graystripe went to StarClan / The Dark Forest in A Light In The Mist, and only cared about seeing Briarlight and Millie. I don’t think he even acknowledged Feathertail or Silverstream.
I’m a huge Gray X Silver shipper!!
Repasta:
Okay, so, I want to talk about how bad kittypets are treated and written in the series.
Warning: This might get a bit sensitive.
They are mostly just portrayed as dumb idiots who have no single brain cell or courage, and are scared of everything, uncapable of everything, and do nothing all day. Either that or they’re mean dung-faces. Jessy is the only exception I can think of, and I guess Velvet’s also less bad than the rest.
Like, Clan cats also don’t all have the same personality. So why do kittypets?
My cat, for example, fights with other cats for territory constantly. He’s been treated by the vet once cuz another cat bit him super hard into is tail. He doesn’t lay around all day, he isn’t a twoleg toy. And yes, he can be lazy sometimes but way better than kittypets in Warriors. Btw, all house cats I know are different from the ones in the series.
And all kittypets in the series that aren’t brainless idiots or mean bullies are super unhappy or join the Clans or both. I also hate how twolegs who have cats are portrayed. I’m sorry but that’s like, slander to cat owners. We don’t give our cats food they don’t like. If my cat doesn’t like the food we give him, we literally race to the supermarket to get better! We let him be free, when he wants to go outside, we never hold him back. Us cat owners really do our best and then we get this.
What I’d like the story to be like is something like, that the Clans discriminate kittypets but then kittypets are shown to really be brave, really be courageous. But no, all kittypets who are are depressed and join death-fest 2024 (AKA the Clans).
So, what are your opinions on this? Also, should I make this an article?
I agree.
The Clans themselves are decedents of kittypets, as they were a part of the cats that settled as the early Clans. And (I wouldn’t actually know this because I haven’t read Dawn of the Clans), back then, they had no problem living among housecats.
I think the main rivalry between the Clan and kittypets is because kittypets hunt for sport, while the Clans hunt for survival. However, this does not give them any rights to shame a kittypet’s lifestyle, nor any other cat’s lifestyle. (Loners, rogues, the Sisters [even though their lifestyle is exclusive and awful], etc).
Little do the Clans know, they would’ve died a long time ago if it weren’t for kittypets and cats with different lifestyles. The six journeying to the sun-drown place wouldn’t have found their way to Midnight if it weren’t for Purdy and some helpful kittypets.
Just adding, they do look upon kittypets as lesser, but they do not know that an old kittypet was their leader that they look up to so often, and that has saved them time and time again. But, as the Clans are stuck in their own little world where only they are the right way to live, they will probably not ever accept there are different ways to live, and you don’t have to make fun of those who live that way.
You should definitely make an article about this, as I do not think it is something we often talk about.
The Clans are descendants of mainly rogues and the Tribe :3
Oh, they were? I thought it said somewhere that kittypets also joined the Clans.
Completely agree! You should definitely make this into an article.
Yes, I totally agree. My cat challenges all trespassing cats and he loves to hunt. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t like humans. He’s honestly the friendliest and most social cat I’ve met. But he loves to run around and play and hunt and stuff.
Also yeah, if our cat didn’t eat the food we gave him, we’d buy new food. And we don’t control their lives. I live in a city and we don’t want our cat to get run over by a car (or get caught by animal torturers like one of my parents’ other cats did), so we keep him inside when we’re not in our summer house, but when we’re there, he can go wherever he likes.
Exactly- no two house cats, or any cats, have the same personality. One of my own cats likes to lay in the sun and scream at other cats she doesn’t know. My other cat likes to bring home live lizards, snakes, crickets, etc. The point is- they both have completely different personalities and they’re both house cats! In warriors kittypets are portayed as mouse-brained, when a lot of cats are really smart, like mine learnt how to open doors.
You should totally make this an article.
The negative portrayal of kittypets is mostly at the beginning of TPB. There are several positive portrayals of kittypets in the series: Jake, in Tallstar’s Revenge; Jessy and others, in Bramblestar’s Storm; Shanty, in Pinestar’s Choice; WarriorClan, in Graystripe’s Vow; and probably others that don’t come immediately to mind. Barley occupies a kind of middle ground. As a barn cat, he is neither a kittypet nor a loner, but he is a positive character who is associated with twolegs.
Minty in Bramblestar’s Storm is another big cliché, just like Fuzzball, who appeared in the later series too. I haven’t read Pinestar’s Choice and Graystripe’s Vow tho, so I don’t know about those.
I thought Minty was a sweet character. She was totally un-warrior-like, but she got into clan life in her own way for a while, learning to eat prey and helping to restore the nursery after the flood. There is a lovely moment when a patrol returns her to her twolegs. She sees her twoleg woman and runs to her an leaps into her arms, and the woman cuddles her like a mother cuddles her kit. One of the cats in the patrol (Bramblestar?) thinks “I never knew twolegs could be like that.”
I agree it’s good what they said about the twoleg, but I just think Minty is kinda a stereotypical kittypet.
Well, that is exactly how some kittypets are. I’m thinking of my own little girl, Spoonie. I don’t think she would have done as well as Minty in that situation. She wants nothing else but to curl up in my or my mate’s lap. She eats only her hypoallergenic kibble and has no interest in anything else, certainly not A DEAD ANIMAL! I think if she ever met a warrior patrol or the equivalent, she’d flee in panic.
It’s true that some kittypets are like that, but in Warriors, LOTS of them are like that, and there are no fierce kittypets except reaaaaaaally few who don’t join or want to join the Clans. Even Jessy would’ve joined them if it wasn’t for Bramblestar loving her.
I could not agree more.
I passionately hate the way the Clans view literally any cat who is not a Clan cat. They think rogues are mangy murderers with no moral code, and they think kittypets are airheaded and spend all day sleeping on velvet cushions while they get their claws manicured. I also hate how no matter what kittypets do, they are always scorned / hated by the Clans. If they are lazy or fear the Clan cats, they are mocked. If they actually stand up for themselves and try to defend their territory, they are thought of as needlessly mean and aggressive. Like of course they want to protect their property from diseased, flea ridden political feral cats, who wouldn’t? 😭
I just wish the Clan cats knew that their way of living isn’t the only way to live, and that the portrayal of pet owners and kittypets was better. In reality, every single Clan cat would be happier in a nice, warm home.
So, i’ve decided to bring light to one of the most (in my opinion) underrated cats in the Warriors series: Leafstar
Now, I think that throughout the series, we never really have an amazing leader. We have cats like Firestar, and cats like Bluestar, but no one that comes off to me as an amazing leader, EXCEPT for Leafstar. I haven’t read Cloudstar’s journey, or anything about SkyClan except for what we get from the original series, so that is what this rant will be based off of. I think that Leafstar is a good leader because she is always trying to make peace, instead of being ready to fight. I think that sometimes the clans are more than ready to fight each other, they want to fight each other. But Leafstar isn’t like this. She always looks for peace. An important way I think she shows this is when she takes in Tree as a mediator. Most clans would be like: “pfft, a mediator? Are you mad? How is that gonna solve our problems?” but not Leafstar. Despite Tree not having warrior capabilities, she still noticed his way with words, and let him stay in the clan as a mediator. I don’t think that any of the other clans would’ve done that.
However, despite her peacefulness, she still stands her ground for what she thinks it right. Which is important for a clan leader, when they see something is wrong. When Tigerstar 2 took over RiverClan, Leafstar was the only leader who really stood her ground against Tigerstar, and displayed her feelings on the matter strongly. She wasn’t swayed by the other leaders’ not agreeing with her, and didn’t back down. She thought something was wrong, and she tried to stop it.
I don’t think I really explained this very well, but I cant think of another way, so I hope this is good enough!
Now, what do y’all think about Leafstar? I’d like to know. And, did this change your opinion on her?
I agree with everything! Leafstar is a really good leader and an understanding cat, and I love how stubborn she is, and she takes everything with a grain of salt which is smart 😛
I agree, and I think that you explained Leafstar’s leadership well. As she herself was not born a SkyClan cat or even a Clan cat at all, she’s always been more inclined to think outside the box- just like Firestar, and it’s likely that she was inspired by him to an extent. She learned that the strict views the Clans have over cats outside the Clans are not as important as they are made to seem, and that this applies to many other things the Clans see as important as well. Leafstar rejects the box most Clan cats think, which is why she sees abstract solutions to problems- like Tree’s placement in SkyClan. She made a whole new role for him.
I agree that she’s a very good leader- one of the best, alongside Firestar and Gray Wing.
She’s great, but really annoying in ASC 😛
I agree! I love Leafstar, and I think she is one of the best leaders the Clans have had.
So you know Robingwing of Thunderclan? She’s Dustpelt, Brindleface, Frostfur, Longtail, Chestnutkit, Cherrpaw, and Ravenpaw. Remember her now? Her first litter was Chestnutkit (male) Cherrpaw (female) with Fuzzypelt. Her second litter was also with Fuzzypelt and was her daughters Brindleface and Frostfur. At one point she became mates with Patchpelt and had Long tail. Her third litter with Fuzzypelt was Dustpelt and Ravenpaw. But…when did she have Dust and Raven? Well in…(Bramblestar’s Storm???) it said “Long tail was not that many moons older than Dustpelt” meaning he is! Also, Longtail was a warrior when Dust and Raven were barely halfway through his apprentinceship. But why did Robing mate with Fuzzy twice, then mate with Patchpelt, then with Fuzzypelt again. WAIT PATCHPELT WAS FUZZYPELT’S APP SO ROBINGWING MATED WITH HER EX HUSBAND FORMER APP?????!!!! *Blogclan pls post this*
That’s so confusing what 😭 I think the Erins messed up while trying to write all these cats’ families 😛
Well idk somewhere between BP and Into The Wild. Not in Bramblestar’s Storm anyway 😛
The same thing happened with Whitestorm a little while later. He was mates with Willowpelt and had Darkstripe and Graystripe, then he mated with Brindleface and had Ashfur, Ferncloud, Elderkit, and Tulipkit. Then he became mates with Willowpelt again and had Sorreltail, Rainwhisker, and Sootfur.
I’m not sure if polygamy, cheating, or just breaking up, taking a new mate, then breaking up with them and going back to their old mate is the reason for this, but it’s strange.
…
