The Hug Page

The Hug Page is here. Because, even in a brand new blog, we still need hugs. This is still the best place to come if you’re feeling sad and need a hug from BlogClan…

  • “Come and get your free hugs! We have condiments: love, hope, dreams, and courage!”

  • -huggles everyone-

Having the first “problem” on the page is actually making me feel better 😛

So, I’m super obsessed with music and dedicated to my alto saxophone. But I haven’t been practicing as much as I’d like due to my Bat Mitzvah (Jewish coming of age ceremony, really big thing) is coming up in June and my parents want to focus on that, and I recently had a tooth pulled and then got bottom braces a couple weeks later, so my mouth has been in pain. That wouldn’t be so much of a problem normally, especially with summer vacation and more time coming up, but the last week of school is auditions for Symphonic Band, my school’s “advanced band” of seventh and eighth graders. It’s audition-only, but they get to play awesome pieces and perform in a parade (I do this anyway with colorguard, but I also want to play in the parade), and play at Disneyland! I’ve been practicing for auditions for a couple months now but my piece is kind of rusty since I haven’t been practicing. It’s really important to me that I get in this year and I don’t think I will. It’s a lot of stress and I’vr been snapping lately. Yesterday I had a huge fight with my dad over nothing. I could use some hugs (and time-turners so I can practice 😛 )

    • *huggles*

Maybe try playing through your piece once a day? Even if you aren’t practicing as much as you’d like, playing through often will keep it from getting rusty.

Will you have to do scales/sight reading for the audition as well, or just the piece?

      Anyways! Good luck Wavey <3

      • Thanks Flofish <3

I try to, the problem is I'm super busy, it hurts, and it scares Melodie. Although just doing it once would save time…thanks!

Just my piece and then my band director will ask me a couple questions, like "Why do you think you should be in Symphonic Band? Will you stay in band even if you don't get in?" etc.

        • Awww 🙁

Practice the full piece once and then just find small sections you find difficult. Practice one or two of those sections everyday- do what you can when you can. I understand being busy, that’s what I do for violin^ This should save even more time 🙂

You can’t expect to be able to practice a full piece every day with school and extra-curricular activities, so sections will be your best friend 😛

            • Oh, that sounds hard, Wavey! 🙁 That sounds really really hard. I could never play that fast! I hope that you get in! *crosses every body part possible for good luck*

            • I’m sorry Wavey! It’s hard to manage so many things at one time. But you’ll get through it. And it’s not the end of the world (even though it may seem like it) if you don’t get into that special band. It’ll be ok. And on a side note in our marching band show we had to play a movement that was a 140+ tempo the entire time and the clarinets had 32nd notes!! It was horrible and I also had to travel ten yard lines in 4 counts!! It was the most exhausting thing I’ve ever done in my life! Do you do color guard in marching band?

              • Whoa. I don’t think my piece is that hard anymore. I’ve never seen anything faster than a sixteenth note 😱

Yes I do 😀 and winterguard!

            • Gosh….. That is FAST! I would be so lost! I’ve only been playing my instrument for 2 years so…..

        • You could maybe get up early to practice if you’re so busy in the normal hours?

          • Maybe. I’m more of a night owl though 😛 (I have an OC named Owlheart and another called Nightsong 😛 )

    • *huggles* How about make yourself a practice timetable? That’s what I do with my clarinet.

    • *Hugs Mobile Wavey so hard that she almost suffocates*. Almost.

    • *hugs and hands over time turner* 😛

Aw, Wavey, that does sound like a lot! Just remember, it might be a hard month now but when it’s over in a few weeks you’ll be so relieved 🙂

    • Don’t worry, Wavey!!! *BIG Hugs* I love music too, and it is sometimes hard to get those hard notes down right, but keep on practicing and you will do fine! There are things to stress about like for example tests, and other stuff like that, but you can figure it out. Try having a little time to do some meditating. It could help. I hope you do good with your audition!!

    • Awwwww! I’ve felt your pain (literally)! I just got my braces back on a few weeks ago, just days before our last band concert. Braces and band hurt when put together, but you’ll get through it.

For the stress factor, I am a strong believer that music can help to relieve stress. Just buckle-down and play! Put your heart into your music and do your best, and I know that you’ll do great! *Hugs!*

And on a more geeky note…..
~Saxophones are so cool! They have similar fingerings to flutes (I play the flute)!
~And did you mean time-turners as in HARRY POTTER!? Sorry….. I love books……

  • Hey guys I really need some hugs

3 days ago I got a cat named mouse (his warrior name was stormshadow). My friend had some kittens she was having trouble finding homes for so I took one. He was cream with white paws and grey tail ears and nose. He was best friends with my small dogs Maddie and cooper. I also have a big rottie mix named Sadie she is sooooo sweet she’s like a big teddy bear. So anyways mouse decided he was going to go in the back yard to see Sadie and cooper. Sadie loves to play and she just wanted to play with mouse but she’s just to rough with him. She ended up picking him up and I think she might have broke a bunch of bones and he passed away. I was so sad and we had a little funeral and buried him next to some big flower bushes in our back yard. Maddie even knew what was going on and she buried him with us. I’m not really mad at Sadie though she just wanted to play with him.

Thanks if you read all this. It felt good to get that out.

  • im just mad nothing n=more to say and the whole world is just really messed up
    aaaaaarrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

    • *Trying to identify*
      *Gives anonymous sad person hugs*
Foxo, maybe? But Foxo’s been chill lately.

      • not fox. hint- enemy of darkkit. had a runin with her and just made everything worse

      • Yeah, I think I know who it is. But I’m honestly not trying. I don’t want you to feel bad because you don’t want to identify yourself and then people figure out who you are without you telling them.

    • Aw, I’m sorry. -huggles-

If you ever want to say more we’re always here for you. It’s completely fine if you don’t. But sometimes you really need to get it off your chest, and we understand 🙂

    • Ugh, it really sucks when it feels like the whole world is against you 🙁 Just remember that someday things will get better, no matter how long it takes. *Hugs* Hope you feel better soon!

  • This problem is hardly anything at all, but got to talk my disappointment out.

Today in school, me and the students had to return the books to the library since the year is ending. I hadn’t got to the epic part yet, so I tried to read there, but if I tried to read it when I was walking, it would probably fall. So I returned it to the library without reading the part I wanted to read. Later on, I was among the top 5 readers if my class, and the librarian gave us a book, which I have no interest on, but atleast I was glad that I got something new to throw at my brother when he is a crazy ape :D, but anyway, the book that I returned at the library today – I searched it up for a summary, since I wanted to read the summary, and guess what… nothing about the book. I’m so disappointed…

    • That sucks, good luck with it. I’m sure you can breeze through it by skipping a lot and still get a good idea of what it is, but you may actually find you like the book if you give it a shot. No guarantee you will but it’s worth a shot even if you’re not going to. And there is always throwing it at your brother like you said ^^

    • *Big Hugs* Oh, I hate when we have to return a book to the library when your in the middle or about to get to a good part in the book you are returning. Wait a second, does that make sense?

    • I’ve had similar situations.I do actually read while I do nearly anything, though.I read when I walk, eat, and watch tv.So…..yeah.Some books are just too long though.Aww.What was the name if the book?

  • Sometimes everything can seem helpless, you know? And I’m not talking about bullies, or problems I’m having, I’m talking about problems the whole world is having, and most people don’t even care. Most people don’t care that eating meat is contributing to global warming (along with cars, but that’s obvious) most people don’t care, that there is an ingredient in lots of their food that is distroying rain forests, and killing so many endangered animals (this evil substance is called Palm Oil) most people don’t care that humans are causing the sixth mass extinction, most people don’t care that in one hundred years, fifty percent of all species on earth could be dead because of us. Some people do care, myself being one of them. But it’s hard to make over 7 billion people care as well. Global warming and the sixth mass extinction is not something in the far off future it’s happening, right now. And we need to put a stop to it. We are loosing so many amazing species, do any of you know what a Falkland Islands wolf is? Probably none of you do, but they are an extinct animal, and they soon will be joined with many other animals in the extinction club. We are driving animals to extinction, and all I ask, is that you will care, are try to have others care, and do something about it, there are things we can do, there’s still a lot left that’s worth fighting for, and I want to fight for it, I hope you do too.

    • It seems like you really care about this, which means your strong beliefs will help you make the difference you want to see. I do agree that we need to help animals from becoming extinct. However, I love meat and that is one thing I will never give up, but fortunately there are many other ways to stop extinction. *Hugs* Keep trying, and soon you’ll make a difference! 🙂

      • Sunnypaw, you are always the first one to reply to my hug page comments and it means so much to me. I understand that you love meat, lots of my other friends do as well. I am a vegetarian, and I go vegan on Fridays, but enough about that.. There’s this awesome documentary called racing extinction, it’s my favorite thing on a screen, others may not enjoy it that much, but I absolutely loved it. Anyway, they have a website, I do not know how to insert a link, but just search up racing extinction and it will pop up. Anyway I am so grateful to you Sunny, and thanks for the hugs!

        • Thank you, that means a lot to me! I’m glad to know that my hugs are appreciated. 😀
I want to watch that documentary, but I have to go to school soon! I’ll report back to you when I watch it.

    • *HUggles*
you can make a difference to this world! I couldn’t, I have a phobia of people

          • I have no word dictionary in my head, I am terrible with words… Hold on I’m looking it up this time… Anthropophobia or Anthrophobia Is the fear of people, anthro means…… I learning this last month, I’m looking it up again…. Yeah it’s like a human, by the way Jay what does homophobic mean?

        • Maybe peoplephobic?Ironically, the fear of really long words is a long word.

Hippopotomonstrosusquipidaliophobia.I don’t think I spelled it right…..let me look it up.

That’s close enough.Oh,and fear of Friday the 13th is paraskavedekatriaphobia.Interesting.

    • It’s obvious that you feel really, really strongly about these topics. Of course I agree that these things are worth fighting for, and we can’t just let the Earth die. Darkpaw, seeing as you feel about these topics so strongly, I wouldn’t be surprised if you make a big difference someday. *Hugs* Darkpaw, I care about animals going extinct. And even if it’s hard to make over 7 billion people care, I know that somehow, you will make a difference. A big one.

      • Thank you Brokenpaw, this all means so much to me, seeing other people care about it, I appreciate your comment!

    • You said that all right!! I totally agree with you! It’s just that sometimes people don’t realize what’s happening to the world or what they are doing to the world. And then there are those people who do see it and care about about those actions. But keep on helping and other people will realize it too! *Big Hugs* Don’t worry, you’ll make a difference in this little world of ours, we all do in our own ways. And keep an open mind to those other ways, because they can help too.

      • Thank you Fleckpaw! Btw love ur name, I’m glad you care, and we share similar points of view, I’ll try to keep an open mind, and thanks so much for your comment

    • It’s a really big problem. One thing is that a lot of people don’t know. I have no idea what the sixth mass extinction is, but it sounds bad. -huggles- We need to stop this.

      • Well, a mass extinction is when almost all species on earth are wiped out, there have been five on this planet, on of which killed the dinosaurs, something that all mass extinctions have in commen is a massive increase in carbon, and we have never seen a carbon spike like today.

        • I think we learned about carbon in school. It can’t increase, because it is a cycle.Um,I’m thinking about the cycle now…..let’s see what was that order….

I do remember there is carbon in plants, which we eat to get energy, then we use the energy….and I think it got released into the air, which brought it back to the plants, and what we didn’t eat goes into the ground when the plant dies, then it is used in stuff like fossil fuel, releasing it back into the air. Therefore there can’t be more carbon, just more of it in a certain place.

I’m not trying to correct you or anything, but I was always taught that the dinosaurs either died from climate changes or loss of food. For example, what eats meat is eating prey that the dinosaurs may have eaten.*shrugs*

          • There is so much carbon, because there’s over seven billion people in the world who breath out carbon, there are planes and cars and electronics that all produce carbon. There is so much that it gets trapped in the atmosphere thus causeing global warming. Also lots of carbon is going into the ocean making it more acidic and if you want to see what happens when water is way to acidic, drop a sea shell in vinager

          • Also I just learned this today, but carbon is being produced I think around 50 times faster then it was a while ago, so there is so much that the trees and other plants can get to it

    • Yeah, the world is pretty messed up.

I think, if you’re really passionate about this, you should choose one specific issue that you really care about. Research and try and understand it from different perspectives, and learn what you can do to help. Then, focusing on your one cause, you can raise awareness, hold fundraisers and donate to charities that help your cause, plan activities (such as Sweater Day that WWF does to encourage using less energy) and see how you can get others in your community to participate.

You can’t help every issue out there, and that sucks. But you CAN help one animal, or person/group of people, or aspect of the planet, and that’s pretty cool, right? 🙂

      • Thank you Stonestripe, your comment reminds me of a poster that used to be hanging up on my bathroom wall, it was a short story about a boy who lived by the beach, and one day lots of starfish were washed up on the beach as far as the eye could see, so he started throwing them back into the water, and a man comes up to him and says something about there being to many starfish on the beach and him throwing back a couple won’t make a difference, the to the boy picks on up and tosses it back into the sea, and says ‘I sure made a difference for that one’

        • Wow.That’s really cool. And it’s true, making a difference for one animal can make a difference for the whole species. We watched a video on pandas, and every panda mattered to these scientists because it could save this species. Now pandas are doing better and the scientists are still doing their best.Isn’t that cool?

    • You know,I do agree with most of your points. There’s one or two I don’t but I won’t go into it right now.

What matters is saving our world the best we can.Animals have nearly gone extinct and are happy now,so why can’t others?Look to the giant panda,Pyrenean Brown Bear(basically a European brown bear,it’s name is just from where it lives),the Alpine ibex, etc.

Why can’t we save endangered species?Donate money to organizations that protect wildlife,go to museums to learn more about the animals we are trying to save, and even help your friends want to help! It’s small, but it’s a start. And every group to protect the wilderness has to begin with one bright idea and a love of nature.

      • So are you saying that is does not matter if we let animals ‘faze out?’ That’s what it’s called when you just let an animal go into extinction.

    • Didja watch Cowspiracy? I’ve been vegetarian for over a year and I just recently watched that movie.

The sad thing about it all is how the government manipulates everything. Guys, I mean this honestly; it’s not some weird conspiracy. The meat industry has a huge voice in the wealth of the nation, and because of that, no one in the government is willing to speak up about its atrocities…

      • I’ve herd Cowspracy is SO GOOD and I really want to watch it. One of my favorite quotes ‘animals are my friends and I don’t eat my friends’ I forgot who said that, but I’m a vegetarian too! Veggie burgers unite! XD

    • Yeah…. our world is going downhill and FAST. So quickly that many people are unable to accept the change. I honestly cannot say that I agree with you on all points, but there is a lot of common ground between the different Global Warming beliefs. In some way, humans are contributing to a natural cycle of our planet and causing it to turn to extremes. I get what you mean about becoming vegetarian, but I think that it is even more than that. Out of all of the food provided by the Earth, we are taking too much. It seems to be just about convenience now, and not the creatures that we need to respect.
Thanks for giving me something more to think about! I wish that I could do something that would make me feel like I was making a difference too!
