I think this might fit the criteria for the Sunning Patch, so let’s give it a go.
Any prefixes or suffixes you just hate??? I personally hate -claw because it’s A) overused and B) it sounds too much like -paw.
I also hate it used as a prefix because… Claw face? That means this shadowclan queen named her poor kit Clawkit. I find that a little depressing.
I’ve never been a fan of verbs ending with ing as prefixes haha, but I don’t think I can say all names like that are bad!! I’ve seen plenty that roll off the tongue nicely still :))
Idk 😛
I dislike when some cat has a clan name as their prefix and they’re in that clan (like shadowsight in shadow clan, sorry). It just sounds weird to me.
Mud-, Rat-
I agree with Astertail who said it above – cats with names like “Windflight” (who, by the way, wasn’t even part of WindClan, he was a ThunderClan cat), are not my favorites
i hate prefixes that are compound words or just too long (a lot of these are fanon so i’m not gonna get too mad at them i just don’t like how clunky it makes the whole name sound)
like “butterflyflutter” or something like that
I agree with this
I hate the super long ones. Like “Starling.” It makes the whole name a huge mouthful. And then having the warrior name be “Starlingwing?!” No! Please stop!
To add onto Starlingwing, I don’t like names where the prefix or part of the prefix rhymes with the suffix. You rhyme in poetry, not names. Hollyleaf is just like that. I love her as a character but I would like a different suffix than -leaf.
Interesting… never thought of that. Quite true tho
well, when squirrelflight got her warrior name, I was like, “squirrelflight?! what! that’s a wierd name! squirrels don’t even fly!” but, well, I’m used to it now… some other names I probably felt like that too, but I don’t remember anymore😅
Basically every cat name with the suffix -nose makes no sense. Owlnose??? Petalnose??? What???
I agree 😛 like what? It just sounds creepy lol
I think it’s a cute suffix, depending on the prefix, like Berrynose? What the heck, like, was his nose red?
Everyone likes to talk about how Ferncloud has 7 kits and Snowbird has 9, but I’ve yet to hear anybody mentioning Milkweed (from DotC) who has 8 kits ._.
Wow, really? I totally forgot about her until just now. That’s interesting
same, I don’t remember her either. poor Milkweed 😅
😛
another example of people forgetting the dotc cast 😛 probably also due to the the fact that her last two litters were in a super edition and novella which even less people read than dotc. (love ur pfp by the way!! azu-nyan :D)
Interesting:>
Opinions on Berryheart, Sparkpelt, and Curlfeather? Rank them from favorite to least favourite >:)
Curlfeather, Berryheart, Sparkpelt. Curlfeather imo was a masterpiece of a villain. She was very smart and capable of formulating and completing her plans. Has Splashtail not killed her, she probably would’ve been an extremely dangerous cat to have in the Clans. And her connection to Frostpaw as a villain made her all the more enjoyable, mainly in Thunder, when at one of her most outcasted points she realized that her own mother had betrayed her. She’s one of my favorite villains.
Berryheart I don’t like as much. She hasn’t done anything but talk, and even when she did she didn’t accomplish much. I am hoping to see more out of her.
I still feel like Sparkpelt hasn’t fully redeemed herself for her actions towards Nightheart. She has taken a step, and I feel like Thunder made it clear that Sparkpelt genuinely cares about Nightheart. But I would like an apology.
Curlfeather, Berryheart, Sparkpelt
Curlfeather : a good villain. good character
Berryheart : annoying. like Mallow said, she hasn’t accomolished much
Sparkpelt : i really don’t like her. i wish she would apologize to Nightheart and she has been very annoying imo
Is anyone fav crowfeather?
No. He’s kinda meh for me. I haven’t read Crowfeather’s Trial though.
I’m sorry, but I really dislike him. Not only is he disloyal, he’s just incredibly rude. Tbh he doesn’t deserve to be deputy.
When Nightcloud went missing, he basically told Breezepelt to give up. Not to mention he cheated on Nightcloud with Leafpool, and everybody kinda just forgave him.
I think he became mates with Nightcloud after he and Leafpool broke things off
Oop yea, but it was a cross clan relationship anyways 😭
He’s alright! Not my favorite but I like him okay
yes! he’s either my fav, or second fav after Jayfeather :))
Same! Finally someone agrees with me!
If you know you are going to hate Crowfeather, you will hate him sm but if you try to understand him, you will like him.
He was never my favorite character, but he’s alright!
So recently, on the Warriors website, they released graphic novel drawings of each major character in TPB for the upcoming graphic novel version of the books, Silverstream included. And they drew Silverstream a buff and muscular…
What do y’all think about this? A lot of fans including me never imagined Silverstream as buff and muscular; I personally imagine her as lean and petite. I really don’t accept this as canon, this breaks every imagination of Silverstream I have ever had.
hmm i don’t have super strong opinions about what silverstream should look but it makes sense, if riverclan cats swim a lot they would have strong shoulder/back muscles and likely long, glossy fur which emphasizes that image!!
true. I never thought of silverstream as muscular. I thought of her as lean too 🙁
I mean, it isn’t the way i envisioned silverstream, but i like it! plus it’s accurate to riverclan cats generally being large and strong!
Yup that’s exactly what I thought as well 🥲 None of the other official art portrays her like that… it just doesn’t look like her at all
Idk. . . I know it technically makes sense since RiverClan cats are supposed to be strong and sturdy, but I’ve always thought she was slender and lean.
I ADORE it I think it’s one my favourite interpretations of Silverstream. The few things we know about her is that she was able to drag Greystripe out of the river with little difficulty, so she’s obviously very physically strong. RiverClan cats have always been described as thicker set and stuff, and I think the only reason people tend to view her as a slender cat is because she’s more typically feminine and associated with being a love interest so people want to make her more dainty looking
However based on the evidence in the books on what RiverClan cats look like, with them being described as well-fed a lot of the time i think it makes sense for her to be thicker set and muscular, especially if she is able to drag a relatively big and long furred cat like greystripe out of the river with ease.
I suppose so… but I still always imagined her as lean and slender. Muscular too, but not Brokenstar-looking like she does now.
thats fair! everyone has their different interpretations of her. I quite like the fact that we are finally seeing a she-cat depicted as muscular and with that sort of body type because even in fandom spaces everyone tends to draw the she-cats very slender and lean all of the time and it becomes repetitive when the toms are allowed to be drawn that way but no one does the same for she-cats (I can think of maybe 2 who are drawn that way? mapleshade and moonlight but even then thats not consistent)
That’s an interesting view- I never thought of it like that… I guess I am a bit biased, I’ve pictured most she-cats as slender and flexible. Coming to think of it it really does make a lot of sense for Silverstream to look strong and muscular (:
glad to hear it gave you a bit of another perspective on it!!!!
Yep, that’s pretty true. I draw Sandstorm and Bluestar pretty bulky and strong though.
Yeah it doesnt tend to be a general fandom depiction though unfortunately bluestar is often drawn pretty skinny
In the “Graystripe’s Adventure” mangas, Sliverstream (who appears to him in dreams) is slender and sleek.
It seems like she’s drawn in very conflicting ways, because looking at the original ultimate guide we also see her looking relatively stocky and heavy set in comparison to cats like Ivypool, so it looks like the artists really haven’t all settled on the same look for her!
i think it’s silly!!! i love it
I dislike all of the new art for the characters, I just really don’t like this artist, and yeah, the Silversteam one is especially weird
I prefer the old artist, but the new one is really good too!
Where are those? I wasn’t able to find them. Could you please post a link?
https://warriorcats.com/content/article/meet-the-cast-the-prophecies-begin-graphic-novel
Thanks.
I don’t care much for those either. They’re way too crudely drawn for my tastes. The thing is, I think cats are beautiful, they are among the most beautiful creatures on the planet. This style of drawing completely fails to capture that beauty. I would like to see a graphic novel illustrated by the person who illustrates The Ultimate Guide. They know how to draw a cat.
Opinions on Lionblaze? He is my 2nd favorite but now I’m losing some faith in him. Tell me if I should replace him with Hollyleaf/Jayfeather or not.
Idk, he just rubbed me the wrong way. He was fine in OotS, but other than that I didn’t really like him.
He is just a budget version of Tigerheart. Stupid, violent, and pushy, but without Tigerheart’s interesting, helpful qualities.
*gulps*
opinions on Skyclan? I honestly wish they hadn’t come to the lake… I liked the clans as 4.
they were one of the main things in AVOS, and I didn’t care for the series much, because of *gulps again* Alderpaw/heart and skyclan. Alderheart is too timid for me, he’s a good cat but not my fav or first choice as one of the main characters. as for skyclan, after all the four clans had been through, I would have preferred for it to stay that way. at least they’re not the main focus anymore… sorry for people that like skyclan and Alderheart , you can disagree with me. I just want opinions 😶
I didn’t like them in AVoS because ThunderClan kept being obsessed with how they were doing to the point where when Alderheart was treating ShadowClan cats’ injuries he worried about what SkyClan would say if they knew what he was doing :C
Good point 😀
I don’t know, I’m neutral on that topic.
I feel like SkyClan’s introduction arc was done good. SkyClan’s whole plot line would feel unfinished and meaningless if we kept getting random standalone books about them, but with no connection to the main series. And the introduction of a new Clan made the aVoS arc more meaningful and interesting.
I do feel like Alderheart is kinda uninteresting; in the latter half of aVoS the arc seemed to kinda just try its best to find something to do with him. That’s why they randomly decided to give Alderheart a forbidden romance. And he was kinda relatability bait from the start.
I don’t think SkyClan should exist at all. It just has no point in my opinion.
I like Alderheart as a character, but his plot was kind of boring. In general, I dislike AVOS.
i have been summoned, alderheart is my favourite character 😛
i find him relatable, its interesting that he’s different from the apprentice stereotype “im so excited to train”! i do wish more was done with his character though, i wish he had a more fleshed-out character arc instead of the plot immediately switching to twig and violet. also i like his relationship with his grandma sandstorm :3
skyclan’s cool. i like the whole daylight warriors thing 🙂
I do agree, it’s always great to have a character diverge from stereotypes.
the daylight warriors were great
I like Alderheart, but I prefer the Clans as four as well. I just never cared much for SkyClan.
I feel like SkyClan was just a plot device in AVoS. I definitely preferred the Clans as four.
I also hate how the narrator immediately switched from Alderheart to Twigbranch and Violetshine. I don’t hate him, but he shouldn’t have been there in the first place.
yeah, I agree. Syclan should not have come and it keeps making more arguments about borders and some clans have lost space. but then again… skyclan WAS one of the original clans. I don’t like Skystar though because he was awful to both of his brothers
What are some of your opinions on the fact that every Larchkit in the warriors books has died young?
Mapleshade and Appledusk’s kit Larchkit drowned and one of Fernclouds kits, Larchkit, died from starvation or something like that in the New Prophecy arc.
Just a coincidence.
agreed
same…
oh… maybe a cursed name?😛 /j
coincidence, I would think?
Ferncloud’s Larchkit could be the reincarnation of Mapleshade’s Larchkit. They both have brown fur and amber eyes, and died around the same age, which reminds me of how Cinderpelt and Cinderheart looked similar and both broke their legs at about the same time in their lives. Of course, Ferncloud’s Larchkit was a she-cat and Mapleshade’s Larchkit was a tom, but since cats’ genders are not always consistent over the series they could actually be the same gender.
Opinions on Blazefire?
No opinion. He’s a boring character made solely for Sunbeam to have a crush on.
I disagree. He is a lot more than a crush for Sunbeam. He had an interesting dynamic with Spiresight and Lightleap too, and likely was never planned to have a major interaction with Sunbeam when he was first introduced.
Neutral on him, he just didn’t stand out to me the way Bristlefrost, Rosepetal and Juniperclaw did (in TBC, in the other arcs I’m also kinda neutral on the latter two)
I do like his name tho 😛
Also unrelated but I checked the birthday calendar and happy early birthday!
Those three were awesome characters. Blazefire stood out to me more than he seems to stand out to others somehow.
I really like him! He seemed like a really sweet cat. I get that he was probably more compatible with Lightleap than Sunbeam though. And I feel like he and Lightleap might be up to something… but idk for sure yet.
Agreed :>
agree :3
Who??
yea I agree
FIRST TIME POSTING HERE-
What do y’all thing of kpop? I personally am a big stan but i do know some people have rather… strong opinions on it. What do you think?
The Sunning Patch is for talking about Warriors 🙂 You can talk about kpop on the music discussion page! https://blogclan.katecary.co.uk/2016/05/26/music-discussion-page/
Oh thanks for telling me!
THE SPLASHHEART THEORY
So ya know the CotC short story called A Mystical Battle? The POV character is named Splashheart. There are also characters named Reedshine, Eeltail, and Darkstar, and they all happen to be the same genders as those in Mapleshade’s Vengance. And they’re all RiverClan, fighting ThunderClan over Sunningrocks, which was apparently not a problem in the very olden days it’s supposed to be taking place. The perfect scene of RiverClan right before Mapleshade’s Vengance begins. But what’s missing? Splashfoot. There is no Splashfoot in this scene, and there’s no Splashheart in Mapleshade’s Vengance. The Warriors wiki lists them as different characters, as well as the Darkstars, Eeltails, and Reedshines of the two stories. It also supposes all the CotC stories are in order. But what if they’re not? What is code 3 came after all the others? What is Splashheart and Splashfoot are the same person, just with the name being mistaken in one?
Interesting theory!!!
I’m 99% sure that the authors intended all of them to be the same character as their counterpart. But they changed their minds for some reason and posted that they were different characters. I’m not accepting that as canon and I say that all the cats with the same name are the same cat, and that Splashheart and Splashfoot are the same cat.
No it’s not like all cats with the same name are the same cat but like since there was like 3 of them it sorta make sense 😛
