I would like some opinions on Firestar for my article. Please tell me what you think of him, and why, in a reply to this comment if you want to take part.
I really like him! He was a great hero character, and was pretty interesting to read about- especially his growth as a character and Clan cat- in TPB. I don’t think he’s rash or nosy like some do, but I do think he can take StarClan a bit too seriously (like in Fading Echoes when he started an unnecessary battle with ShadowClan on ‘StarClan’’s word).
Nobody thinks he is rash or nosy though, only other clan leaders because they believe in strict authoritarian decentralized states, closed off from trade and interaction, fueled by xenophobia and ethnocentrism. (warrior cats in a nutshell)
Well, I don’t like Firestar. I liked him in TPB, where he was already not the smartest and too impulsive, but I like flawed characters, and I didn’t mind him at first. BUT in TNP he becomes a real jerk and a bad father, and he’s always neglecting his own Clan for the needs of other Clans, where ThunderClan SHOULDN’T CARE ABOUT. But still, when Firestar becomes leader, everyone ADMIRES him, though he isn’t such a good leader at all! And I feel like he was picking favorites with his kits. He likes Squirrelflight, an absolute dung-face, more than Leafpool, the sweetest cat ever! Don’t know what I mean? Well, look at this: When the truth comes out about Jayfeather, Hollyleaf and Lionblaze, Firestar doesn’t punish Squirrelflight for lying to her Clan. He’s always defending her when talking to Leafpool’s kits! But does he do that for Leafpool? No, he doesn’t! At all! What does do, is taking Leafpool’s role as a medicine cat away! I think it’s clear that he’s picking favorites here. So yeah, that’s pretty much all the reasons why I hate Firestar. And please don’t be offended when you like him!
Why do you think Squirrelflight’s a dung-face?
Because she is very annoying, she didn’t care much about Lionblaze, Hollyleaf and Jayfeather, she was very jealous when Brambleclaw dared to say one word to Hawkfrost even before she knew he was evil, and I know you all think Bramble is a bad mate, but I think Squilf is much worse.
She very much did care about Lionblaze, Jayfeather, and Hollyleaf! She protected them and loved them like they were her own.
But in The Sight, she constantly drops them with Daisy and Ferncloud!
That is not true. She did not have milk, of course, so Ferncloud and Daisy had to feed them. You can constantly see her checking up on them, playing with them, comforting them, and being a mother, even if she’s not in the nursery feeding them all the time and still did warrior duties. Are you saying Ivypool is not a good mother because she did warrior duties instead of staying in the nursery?
But with Ivypool Fernsong stayed in the nursery, but Squirrelflight was constantly doing warrior duties and Brambleclaw did the same, and was she ever playing with them or comforting them? Perhaps I don’t remember😛 But I think Brambleclaw cared about them much more than Squirrelflight.
She cared very much for her foster kits. There is so much evidence of it, but I’m going to use Long Shadows. During the fire, Squirrelflight managed to leap over the flames, but Hollyleaf, Jayfeather, and Lionblaze were trapped. Rather than save just herself, Squirrelflight wrestled with a branch so that the kits could make it through. Even though she was exhausted, Squirrelflight would do anything to save her kits, to the point where she told a vengeful Ashfur that he could do anything he wanted with her, as long as he let Hollyleaf, Jayfeather, and Lionblaze go. Squirrelflight truly loved them like her own <3
I politely disagree. Firestar never neglected his Clan. He cared about other Clans because in the heart of a cat like him, all the Clans are important, no matter the rivalries and borders, no matter the hostility and different cultures, every Clan supports each other, helps each other thrive and exist. If one Clan is falling, it brings down every Clan, just like in the food web. But even though Firestar helped other Clans, ThunderClan always came first for him, and loyalty to his Clanmates made up his every heartbeat, every pawstep.
I agree!
I really like him. Firestar began as a bold kittypet daring enough to wander over his fence to explore the forest beyond it, fueled by courage and curiosity. From the beginning, this little orange house cat displayed the qualities of a true warrior, and set off on the path to become an amazing ThunderClan warrior after running into a few during his expedition. Firestar proved to be a loyal, brave deputy, serving his Clan with the force of fire, and even when times were tough, he never turned back to his roots. He showed a compassion, dedication, fearlessness, and sense of right and wrong few could possess. Firestar has always seemed incredibly realistic to me, and I love how he will do the right thing, no matter what. He had the makings of a fine leader, and from the moment he exited Mouthermouth, crowned with nine lives, it was clear that no matter how much anxiety he felt, how much self-doubt, how much obstacles came in his way, Firestar would always put the Clans first and guard them with not just determination, selflessness, and kindness, but his lives as well.
Agreed 😀
I like him! I think, obviously, the series wouldn’t exist without him so he’s pretty crucial to the plot and quite a kind character! I really loved TPB (it’s my third favourite arc after DotC and OoTS) and I just loved him in it! He was a very interesting character to read about and the only thing I’ve ever been annoyed about related to him is the whole Spottedleaf and Sandstorm thing 😛 (hmm, who would i choose, the person I’ve spent my whole life with and had kits with or my childhood crush who never looked at my twice before she died…)
But yeah, in general, I really like him! I do agree with Mal, I think he takes StarClan a bit too seriously at times but every good character has their flaws!
I totally agree about the FireXSpotted thing…it’s so annoying when he says he loves Sandstorm but secretly he’s loving Spottedleaf. But, I’m not really mad at him. I still like him 😀
I feel like everyone loves Firestar except me😛
I HATE FIRESTAR!!!!!!
Yay, me too!!!
I don’t really like him because he was a bit nosy like when he sent a patrol to windclan. He also is picking favourites because when both Squirrelpaw and Leafpaw went missing, he was only worried for Squirrelpaw and not Leafpaw!
He sent a patrol to WindClan because Bluestar was going insane and attacking WindClan for little reason, and Firestar wanted to warn them. That is not being nosy, that is being caring of other cats.
Also he was worried about Leafpool. He said multiple times that he wanted to get Leafpool and the other cats stuck at the Twoleg den back. Also we didn’t even have Firestar’s perspective so even if he didn’t act like he missed Leafpool, he could easily be thinking about her a lot and we wouldn’t know.
“He sent a patrol to WindClan because Bluestar was going insane and attacking WindClan for little reason, and Firestar wanted to warn them. That is not being nosy, that is being caring of other cats.”
No he didn’t lol, in that part he went by himself.
He was pretty worried about Leafpaw, the reason he seemed more worried about Squirrelpaw wasn’t because of favorites, it was because she had been spending so much time with Brambleclaw especially when Cinderpelt shared her vision about the two possibly destroying the forest. So when he snapped at her and she went missing the next day, he had the right to be worried. Plus, Sorreltail knew where Leafpaw was, so Firestar could worry a bit less since he at least knew her location and could plan a rescue mission for her and the other missing warriors. He had no idea where Squirrelpaw was, and if she was even safe with Brambleclaw.
I agree!
But read my comment above and you’ll see that he really favors Squirrelflight.
I politely disagree, I think he was punishing Leafpool for breaking the medicine cat code, and I think he was mad at Squrrelflight when the truth came out too. He just had to ban Leafpool from being a med-cat because it was agenst the Med-cat code and in the TNP he is very hard on Squrrelflight and kind to Leafpool.
I Think you have good points, but I personally don’t agree. Firestar may a bit inconsistent, but he would never choose favorites. 🙂
I’d like to piggyback on this. Firestar wasn’t the only one mad. Keep in mind, Brambleclaw and the kits had been lied to about who the mother was as well. My opinion is Firestar pitied Squirrelflight enough to not exactly punish her as much as Leafpool, considering the fact that this whole secret was revealed to all the Clans. Firestar most likely would show mercy to cats dealing with that much pain and hatred. Crowfeather and Breezepelt grew to loathe ThunderClan even more, all the Clans started to judge Squirrelflight and Leafpool, etc.
As for TNP, I find the reason he was hard on Squirrelflight is because of how independent and reckless she was. Squilf constantly broke rules, where as Leaf constantly followed them. There was really no reason to be hard on her. You put this very well, Acorn.
I have pretty mixed opinions on him, honestly. Warriors clearly wouldn’t exist without him, but he could have done much better. In TPB, he was a typical protagonist, which may not make for the most likable character, but was a good choice to kick-start the series. Afterwards, though, he just became really infuriating. He clearly preferred Squirrelflight, who may I add is an annoying fox-dung, over Leafpool, and was also way too nosy about the other Clans. Overall, he did what he had to in order to start Warriors off, but could have made much better choices later in life.
Any one here knows what WCkin is or is kin to someone?
Kin to someone is basically family or relatives.
I just thought…
People say that if Crookedstar had never broken his jaw, Mapleshade would have not been able to do what she did to RiverClan (via Crookedstar). But really, if you think about it, wouldn’t the same have happened to Oakheart?
Rainflower had always favoured one kit over the other. In the first chapter or so of Crookedstar’s Promise, you see that she calls Stormkit ‘her brave warrior’ when Oakkit barely gets any praise. Surely if she’d kept layering praise and attention on her other kit, Oakkit would start to feel… Jealous? Upset? Lonely? And hang on, aren’t they the emotions that led Mapleshade to Crookedstar? Soo…
I just think that there was no way to avoid that, other than Rainflower being a better mother.
True. Mapleshade and Rainflower were always unknowingly going to work together to harm RiverClan.
Or knowingly…
Plot twist: Mapleshade and Rainflower were working together this whole time

Who here thinks that there is a lot and I mean A LOT of patriarchy in Warriors? I would feel so understood if someone sees this too 🙂
I don’t think there’s a lot of patriarchy
I highly doubt that it’s intentional in anyway, although I think it does exist. Sunnyfall made a detailed analysis about this that I would recommend watching. I think it’s mostly that there are more developed and complex male characters in the series, and some of the female characters (I’m looking at you, Whitetail, Willowbreeze, and Lark Song) are just boring Mary Sues with no real personality. Meanwhile you will get a boring Gary Stu tom character a lot less often (Brackenfur).
I wouldn’t say it’s a huge, huge problem, but it does exist.
Since when Willowbreeze a Mary Sue? Here are her flaws:
She’s annoying.
She’s jealous.
She’s easily offended.
So she’s definetly not a Mary Sue.
Oh wait no, that’s Willowshine! Oops! Idk why but I headcanon that Willowbreeze is insecure about herself.
How dare you even mention Willowshine in the same paragraph as Willowbreeze. That’s a disgrace to Willowshine /lh.
Why do you hate Willowbreeze so much? Just curious bc I like her. I mean, she’s not mentioned in that much books, and she isn’t on my favorites list, but I never really disliked her either.
Partially because she’s a soulless Mary Sue. There’s also a more personal reason though. Willowbreeze reminds me a lot of someone I used to know irl who I really didn’t like so I feel like I kinda take it out on her a bit…
Do you mean in matters like ratios of male to female leaders or med cats, or about more general attitudes? Please elaborate.
I suppose so now that I think about it!
Yes, I suppose there is! I don’t think that’d be intentional, especially considering all the Erins are female, but yeah, I do think I get what you’re talking about!
there was a patriarchy?
I guess there is a bit of patriarchy, but I don’t think they mean to have it.
It’s not a big problem, but it’s definitely there. As Mallowpaw said, Sunnyfall made a video about it that I’d highly recommend watching.
Heloo Blogclan!
What are some cats you just don’t know why people like?
Willowbreeze
Noooo 😭😭 /lh
Goosefeather, Onestar, Bumblestripe, Lionblaze
cracks knuckles ominously
Twigbranch, Needletail, Garystripe (intentional), Sorreltail, Skystar, Blackstar, Tigerstar II, and Mothwing. Plus countless others.
Lionblaze!
Twigbranch, Dumbwing, Skystar, Tigerstar2, Cinderheart, Bumblestripe
I like, if not love, all of these 😛 (except Skystar and Tigerstar 2 who deserve to go in a trench and DIE)
people like Skystar?
Ummm I think you misspelled Dovewing /j, but I agree, she’s definitely not my favorite
Thistleclaw. I- how??? And Tigerstar II.
I was under the impression that everyone hates Thistleclaw, so I didn’t add him to my list lol.
Same haha
Græystripe
Leafpool. I just don’t like her and I don’t get what all the hype is about.
Same
Graystripe! Lionblaze! Breezepelt! Spottedleaf! Tigerstar II!
I… only agree with Lionblaze and Tigerstar 2 😛
Thats the point though. It’s cats that people like that you don’t understand why.
True 😀
Jayfeather, Greystripe, Lionblaze, Goosefeather, Blackstar, Tigerstar 1 and 2, Pinestar. There are probably others that I forgot.
Mapleshade, Brackenfur, and Scourge
Onestar as leader, Tigerstar II, Dovewing and Ashfur
Also, Lionblaze, and Skystar
What do you think is the best death scene in warriors?
Yellowfang’s was very well written and a lot of emotion was contained in that scene.
Definetly Tigerstar’s! Go Scourgee!
Spottedleaf’s second, or Bristlefrost
BRISTLEFROSTTT
Bristlefrost, and Bluestar
I would say sootfur and tigerstar 1 (broseph got his organs scourgified)
ASFDJBKSDF
Jayf– oh wait that wasn’t released yet!
uhh… Yellowfang?
NOO, don’t kill Jayfeather 😭
Bristlefrost💔
Gray Wing’s was pretty emotional! Bristlefrost‘s was super sad too
Bristlefrost 💔
Woah great minds think alike much 😭
Deffo Bristlefrost! Her death was pretty emotional but well written
Hollyleaf, it was so moving and emotional how she died to save Ivypool and stayed loyal to her Clan through it all, and then forgave Leafpool right before she died, IT MADE ME CRY AAAA
bristlefrost 😭 briarlight’s was also pretty impactful imo
Tigerstar 1 definitely and Bristlefrost
What do you think is the saddest warriors books? Mine is Crookedstar’s Promise( it’s the only one that made me cry😭)
The last hope and path of stars. Gray wing and firestars death made me cry
I second these T-T
I third these, but it was Hollyleaf and Spottedleaf’s that got me the most
A Light in the Mist
Yeah, Crookedstar’s Promise and also the end of Cloudstar’s Journey, that was the only time I ever cried while reading😭
Same!
From the (admittedly few) ones that I’ve read, The Last Hope
Cloudstar’s Journey… idk it just made me depressed for a whole night
Crowfeather’s Trial… don’t even ask, it just made me cry
Bristlefrost’s death in A Light in the Mist was very sad
👆
👆👆👆👆👆
I completely agree
Path of Stars but Crookedstar‘s Promise was sad too. Also Forest of Secrets (Silverstreammmm)
I feel like the saddest book for me was ether Bluestar’s Prophecy, Crookedstar’s Promise or Path Of Stars.
Probably A Light in the Mist! I really loved it but it was so sad
A light in the mist !!! Bristlefrosts death 😭😭😭😭
Unrelated to warriors but if we have a sunning patch in the blog does that mean BlogClan is actually located in the thunderclan camp? 😛
No, BlogClan is obviously located in BlogClan camp nestled within the WordPress Forest around the Internet Lake! /lhj
Yes 👍
Real
Absolutely
(Mods, can this be canon 😛?)
(Sure, why not?)
If you could have prevented one warriors character from dying (like Bristlefrost, Sandstorm, etc) who would you pick?
I’d definitely pick Silverstream!
Rosepetal. Most characters die for a reason. She was a interesting character who died for no reason.
Spottedleaf. (her second) I agree with Mallow that most characters die for a reason, and it was good for the story for her to die, but still, it’s sad 🙁
I agree! It was so sad when she died </3
I agree, she should have lived longer. (What is it with ThunderClan and their medicen cats being murdered? First Ravenwing, then Spottedleaf, and then Breezepelt tried to murder Jayfeather.)
That’s just Warrior cats for ya..
The thing that annoys me about Spottedleaf’s death is from what I’ve heard (this may have been confirmed or maybe I heard it from LemonKat 😛) but I think the Erins killed her off because they didn’t want to make Firestar choose between Sandstorm and Spottedleaf when he died.
Like I am at my wits’ END with this Spottedleaf stuff. You knew her for like two months, Firestar. Then she stalked your dreams and you continued to love her for THREE more arcs. you had kits with Sandstorm and knew her for most of your life. It’s pretty clear who you should pick
I would pick Whitestorm, he is my favorite character and his story is so sad, he had an evil father and his mother died when he was only a kit! It was a waist of potential to have him die when he could have been leader. We should have had Whitestar instead of Firestar. (Although I like Bluestar, what was she thinking, Whitestorm was the obvious deputy choice. Although I do like Firestar, I just feel like Whitestorm deserved the deputyship more. Though, Bluestar was probably thinking about the whole “Fire alone can save out clan” and she was going mad so I guess she picked to the best of her abilities)
second this!
Whitestorm totally deserved more time :(( imo Bluestar should have made him deputy before Tigerstar I (but that would have ended up with Whitestorm murdered somehow so it’s probably best she didn’t).
Ya, she only died so that Graystripe could be sad and for the drama. She should have lived to raise her kits.
FR
I’ll probably pick Feathertail but the Three won’t exist soooooo maybe Snowfur idk
None of them, they all die to advance the story forward and I honestly find most deaths very moving and emotional in a good way
👆(except for Bristlefrost that writing was bad… but it might be fine in retrospect depending on what happens with the Super Editions)
Heyloo! What are your top 5 inspirational characters? It shouldn’t be cliche (a character that doesn’t have any other personality other than trying to be inspirational)
Mine are:
Crowfeather: I love how he keeps pushing everytime he falls down
Tawnypelt: I love how loyal she is to Shadowclan even if Shadowclan isn’t for her…
Ivypool: I don’t really like her but she was very interesting! The way she changed and risked her life was just amazing.
Firestar: He made some risky desicions for the good of all clans
Ravenpaw: He proved that its okay to find something hard and doing something else isn’t cowardish but just someone who wants to find their rightful place.
Crowfeather
Jayfeather
Firestar
Bristlefrost
Feathertail
Jayfeather bc he is super wise and smart.
Cinderpelt bc she went through so much and still is a great cat.
Ravenpaw bc he was brave without knowing he was.
Shadowstar bc she was the first cat to really lead a Clan and she did it so well!
Hollyleaf bc she was so smart, honest and loyal to the warrior code!
5. Gray Wing! I’ve always been impressed by his patience and understanding, even for cats like Clear Sky. 🙂
4. Tawnypelt! Like you said, she preserves and refuses to give up on ShadowClan, even if sometimes it might seem like she doesn’t fit in!
3. Ivypool! She was feeling so jealous and going through a lot of negative emotions, as well as straying down a bad path, but she redeemed herself!! it’s never too late to change 🙂
2. Brightheart! Physical beauty doesn’t matter at all, it’s only what’s within that matters :))
1. Briarlight!!! I doubt I need to elaborate on this, but she remained so positive despite everything she’s been through!! No matter what life throws at you, don’t give up
These aren’t in order, but
Tawnypelt
Nightstar
Feathertail
Sunbeam
Firestar
Hollyleaf
Ravenpaw
Ivypool
TNP Squirrelflight
Feathertail
ahh I forgot Ivypool!
Tawnypelt
Squirrelflight
Night (RiverClan)
Hollyleaf
Briarlight

anyone notice how everyone keeps nodding at jayfeather when he cant see it?
I mean, it’s a habit right?
Random theory: if he asked something and the reply is no, they might just say no if it’s a yes, Jayfeather just probably realizes it’s just a yes if they’re not protesting or saying no… idk
I want to do an article with BlogClan’s opinions on DotC! If you don’t want to be mentioned in the article, that’s totally fine and you just have to tell me.
I really like DOTC! From a group of cats starving in the mountains during a terrible leaf-bare to the foundation of the Clans, this arc portrays the struggles of the cats as they settle into their new territory, and their fight for peace and prosperity. There was so many interesting characters, and a ton of emotional scenes where I could feel myself blinking back tears at Gray Wing’s death, or swallowing from the intensity of the First Battle. It’s one of the best arcs I’ve ever read, and I’m glad I got the chance to read DOTC! Not to mention, it produced my least favorite character, and a few of my favorites <3
(It’s perfectly fine if you include my answer in your article <3)
It’s a great arc with probably the most developed set of characters. The plot was great and almost all of it was really good, except for Skystar’s bad redemption arc and Violet Dawn.
