Fan Fiction

Looking for where you can get help on writing your fanfic? Check out the fanfic organization page!

We are delighted to have so many talented and prolific writers on BlogClan, but the amount of fan fiction posted in comments has increased so much that we do not have the time or resources to moderate it all in a timely fashion. What we’re about to say will seem harsh, but it will hopefully mean that comment moderation over the whole site will become quicker which means more fun for everyone. So, here goes, and apologies in advance if this is upsetting:

Fan fiction comments will not be moderated on BlogClan.

This means comments containing fan fiction will never make it out of moderation. They will languish there, unread and unmoderated, for eternity.

Wattpad provides an excellent platform for reading and sharing fan fiction. You might wish to use that instead to share your stories. I am not favouring Wattpad. It’s the only one I know of, and I’m sure there are many other platforms out there you might prefer. It’s up to you!

If you can’t make an account on any site, you may use justpaste.it! If you only have access to Google Docs, then you must use a blog email to make the document or link a web-published version of your document. To make a web-published version, set the doc to be viewable by anyone with the link, then go to “File” -> “Share” -> “Publish to web” and click “Publish”, then copy the link provided (it MUST end in “/pub”). Any document found to contain personal information will not be moderated!

Feel free to post links to your fan fiction on this page. Please don’t post them anywhere else on BlogClan that isn’t a secret page. Links to fan fiction posted in comments on ANY OTHER NON-SECRET PAGE will be deleted.

DISCLAIMER: BLOGCLAN IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR CONTENT PUBLISHED ON OTHER SITES.

LINKS POSTED HERE ARE POSTED BY BLOGCLANNERS BUT THEY ARE NOT CHECKED BY BLOGTEAM, SO PLEASE USE YOUR OWN DISCRETION WHEN FOLLOWING A LINK.

  • Briarlight’s Heart: chapter six.

After Briarlight was done sharing prey with Dovewing, she went back to the medicine cat den.

Jayfeather was in there, talking to Ivypool, who seemed to have a thorn in her paw. Jayfeather was pulling it out.

“No need to pull so hard!” protested Ivypool, wincing a little.

“I’m sorry, would you rather have that thorn in your paw forever? Because I can arrange that,” Jayfeather sarcastically replied.

Briarlight let out a purr. Jayfeather could be sarcastic and grumpy, but he did have a kind side, and he was one of her best friends.

Ivypool rolled her blue eyes. Jayfeather finished pulling the thorn out, and told Ivypool, “Be careful with that paw for a few days, and it’ll be fine.”

Ivypool nodded. Then, noticing Briarlight, she mewed, “Oh, hi, Briarlight.”

“Hey, Ivypool.” meowed Briarlight, dragging herself into her nest.
Ivypool left the den. Briarlight wondered what to do now.
Jayfeather started to sort herbs. “Do you want to help?” he asked Briarlight.

“I actually think I’m going to take a nap.” Briarlight said.

Jayfeather nodded. Briarlight closed her blue eyes.
But she couldn’t sleep. She couldn’t stop thinking about Dovewing. Her beautiful green eyes. Her soft gray fur. The affection in her voice when she said Briarlight’s name…

    She purred, feeling happy.

“You seem happy today,” Jayfeather commented.

“I’m just happy to be friends with Dovewing,” Briarlight explained.

Jayfeather’s blind blue eyes softened. “I’m glad that you’re happy.” he mewed.

Her heart beating quickly as she thought of Dovewing, Briarlight meowed, “So am I.”

I hope you liked this chapter! C:

  • Hey guys! Chapter four of Broken Flames might take longer to write than I intended, because I just came up with a good idea that I am going to add to it! So should I post what I have written so far for Chapter four or just wait until it’s completely done? Thanks fans!

  • 🦦 ♥ 𝙼𝚒𝚗𝚔𝚝𝚊𝚒𝚕 𝚒𝚜 𝚁𝚞𝚗𝚗𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚏𝚘𝚛 𝚂𝚆! ♥🦦 says:

A crossover fic, where two villain ocs of mine meet in purgatory >:3

    He paused.
    “Who’s there?”
His voice echoed in the emptiness, and yet he knew there was somebody there- he could hear pawsteps.
    “I am.”
A thin cat slipped out from the mist ahead of him, xer amber eyes gleaming. The tom took a step back.
“Where did you come from? Are you real? Or are you here to torture me, like all the other visions?”
The slim tan cat shook xer head, laughing softly.
“I think I’m real. I’ve wandered the mist for so long, it’s hard to tell anymore.”
The tom blinked at xem. Xe didn’t sound like the hallucinations- perhaps he wasn’t alone, at long last.
    “What’s your name?”
    “Blazewatcher. Yours?”
    “Havenflight.”
They sat in silence for a moment, staring at each other, drinking in the sight of another cat. The desolation of the mist seemed to lift from their fur, and they felt lighter.
“What did you do to get here?”
They spoke simultaneously, gasping as they realized their synchronization. With a small smile, Blazewatcher spoke first.
“I betrayed my Clan. My family. My home. Every one of them deserved it.”
Xer voice was dark and careless. Havenflight lowered his head.
“I did, too. But some of them… Some of them didn’t deserve any of it.”
Silence fell once again as they stared in the same direction, watching the mist lazily fold itself into mysterious, swirling shapes. Havenflight saw his Clan in the mist, and Blazewatcher saw xers. Their expressions twisted.
Havenflight’s, saddened- he was in agony.
Blazewatcher’s, gleeful- xe was in rapture.
Glancing at each other, they knew their differences. They knew their wrongdoings held no bearing over the other. They knew that they were two cursed travelers from two forgotten pasts.
They knew that they would fade into the mist like echoes- legends lost to time like rain in the river.
    “Did you love anyone?”
    “No. Did you?”
Havenflight felt something inside of him break.
    “Yes. I did.”
    “Idiot.”
He gritted his teeth against the sob that threatened to escape his throat at xer words, squeezing his eyes shut. Blazewatcher looked at him coldly, analytically, and he collapsed.
    “I miss them.”
His voice was nothing but a whisper. Blazewatcher shook xer head.
“Don’t. They sent you here. They chose to keep you from StarClan.”
    “No… No, I know they didn’t. Halfsky wouldn’t. Fennelsong wouldn’t.”
    “Yes. They did.”
Xe flicked xer tail, staring up into the mist.
    “I can’t be here anymore.”
    “Tough, isn’t it?”
“I’ll find them again. You’ll see.”
The thin cat scoffed, shaking xer head. Havenflight felt the weight of the mist descend upon him again as xe got to xer paws.
    “Good luck.”
Xe disappeared into the void of white, leaving Havenflight alone.
Broken and forgotten, like rain in the river- pitied by no one but himself.

  • Tiger’s Child
    Chapter 2

After the Kittypet incident i knew better than to underestimate Blackear Slash and the others. So when Willowsong crept away into the woods one day it meant trouble. When she returned later on Slash dragged her in front of us all and called what would resemble a clan meeting to any cat but it was very different from what it used to be. Firstly the call was no longer “all cats old enough to catch their own prey” was changed to ” all cats strong enough to kill their own enemies” and secondly they were never called to make an apprentice or a warrior it was called to punish. As i was saying Willowsong was dragged up to the tall stump and shoved to her feet while Scar crowed above her.
” This mangy flea bag here was caught sneaking away to see a kittypet! and so deserves punishment!” the gathered cats yowled in anger screeching abuse and insults to Willowsong who shrank back in fear.
    ” Foxheart!”
    “Traitor!”
” Why don’t you go and join ThunderClan!”
Eventually the shouting died down and Slash took the oppertunity to speak.
” As in the ways of Tigerstar in the old forest punishment must be served!”
Blackear pushed me forward towards Slash and the cowering Willowsong.
I blinked confused what was going to happen?
the crows pushed me forwards till i stood by Willowsong
” Unsheathe your claws now ” he told me and so i did.
” We have no place here for traitors and softhearts” Slash hissed Willowsong whimpering softly behind him.
    “Now! let justice be served!”
Slash pulled me forwards again and gestured to Willowsong. I knew what I had to do. I looked down my claws trembling as I drew them closer to Willowsong’s neck, Their tips traced the soft fur that had so many times comforted me. Blackear looked straight at me our eyes meeting as he hissed ” Do it”. The crowd waited excitedly for the death blow. I took a breath before plunging my claws ripping and tearing fur and flesh, blood sprayed coating Willowsong’s beautiful grey and white fur a rusty red. Slash purred in aprovall curling his lips in pleasure, To this day Willowsong’s screech haunts my dreams calling out in pain. But every time I hear it it lessens, Becoming more like a screech of victory than pain.
I pulled away from her limp body drowning out the crowds cheering and Blackear’s whispers in my ears.
” re- ! kid are you- listenin-?!”
Suddenly Slash shook my shoulders angrily.
” I said to move the body! leave it for the crows out by the twoleg nests”
    ” W-what?”
” Carry the body away to the Twoleg nests! are you a weakling!?”
Reluctant and in shock I pulled Willowsong’s body to the Twoleg nests. A red trail dripping behind us from both her wound and my paws. I set her to rest by a tall fence next to a blossoming willow tree. Now i think about it the Irony was not wasted, a living willow in the height of it’s life while Willowsong lay dead by my paws.
Just as i was about to leave an unfamilar She-cat leaped down from trees and attacked pushing me down on my back snarling. Though i may not have known it then this cat would become one of my very best friends actually not one of my best friends she was the best friend i ever had. The only one actually.

  • Here’s a short story about Cinderpelt I wrote!
    Cinderpelt’s Heart
    – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –
Cinderpelt laid wide awake in her nest. In the next nest over, she could hear Leafpaw’s quiet breathing as she slept.

Cinderpelt’s blue eyes were filled with guilt and shame.

Leafpaw had only been her apprentice for a moon, but Cinderpelt didn’t feel like she was a good mentor.

She wasn’t sure if she should try to be the kind of mentor Yellowfang was to her, or do something else, but whatever it was, she felt like she wasn’t doing a good job.

Cinderpelt gazed at Leafpaw as the brown tabby apprentice slept.

She liked Leafpaw quite a bit. But mentoring was difficult. It’d always seemed easy when Yellowfang mentored Cinderpelt, but perhaps it wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.

Closing her eyes, Cinderpelt eventually fell asleep.

When she woke up, she was in a place she recognized from trips to the Moonstone: StarClan.

And there she was. Yellowfang, her eyes gleaming, her dark gray fur matted as ever.

“Yellowfang!” purred Cinderpelt, running to touch noses with her former mentor.

    “My dear apprentice.” Yellowfang purred.

Cinderpelt shuffled her paws. “Do you have something to tell me? Advice to give? A prophecy?”

“Yes. I’ve come to give you advice.” Yellowfang’s eyes softened. “It seems like you’re questioning if you’re a good mentor to Leafpaw.”

“I am,” Cinderpelt confessed. “I just feel like I could never be as good of a mentor to Leafpaw was you were to me.” She looked at the ground, wondering what Yellowfang would say.

Yellowfang did not speak for a moment, but then she spoke.

“Oh, Cinderpelt. You’re doing just fine. I know that it can take time to get used to having an apprentice, but I think you’re a good mentor.

“You’ve done nothing but encourage Leafpaw. Stop being so hard on yourself. Just don’t give up.”

Cinderpelt’s throat was choked up with emotion. This was what she needed all along. Somebody to tell her that she was good enough.

“Thank you, Yellowfang,” she meowed. Her blue eyes gleamed.

Yellowfang nodded her head in reply, and slowly, started to fade away. Cinderpelt found herself waking up.

Yawning, she stood up, and gently nudged Leafpaw.

Leafpaw opened her amber eyes. “Hello,” she mewed, standing up.

“Ready to gather herbs?” Cinderpelt asked.

    Leafpaw nodded. “I’m ready.”

“Then let’s go,” mewed Cinderpelt, exiting the medicine cat den with her apprentice.

Like Yellowfang said, all she had to do was not give up. She would be alright.

    THE END

I hope you liked it! C:

  • Hey! This is a small snippet of my fanfic: The Ember’s Fate
    ——————————————————————————————————————-
Emberkit ran to his sister, Ravenclaw, she was about to head out for patrol once again. “Ravenclaw!” Emberkit said excitedly. Ravenclaw sighed in annoyance “What is it Emberkit?” “Can we play? please please please pleaseee?” This was the 8th time he’s asked, every single time Ravenclaw said “no”. Ravenclaw hissed “NO! I’ve said it over and over and-” but before she could finish, Emberkit bolted past her in fear, right into the forest. Her eyes widened “EMBERKIT!!” she ran after him, but lost him, she searched for hours, but no trace of him, she returned to camp, soon a search patrol was sent out, but no luck, EMberkit was officially.. missing…

  • Chapter 9 of The First Warrior! Please let me know what you think!

    Chapter 9

Dawnpaw stared evenly at Lionscar. I knew he was up to something! She had heard pawsteps outside the medicine den, and when she got up to check it out, she saw Lionscar heading out of camp. “You come here to meet your sisters?!” she exclaimed, and Lionscar clamped his tail over her mouth.
“Are you trying to get me caught?” he hissed.
Dawnpaw spat his tail away. “Yes, actually. That’s why I followed you.” She was quite proud of herself for tracking herself all the way to RockClan without getting caught.
“Alright,” Lionscar growled. “Can you please try to keep this between us?”
Dawnpaw didn’t think there was much fun in that. “But… don’t you want everyone to know that,” she paused, and when she spoke again, her voice was high pitched and breathy. “You love Lilypaw?” She would have been more grossed out than amused by this if she hadn’t already known.
The look on Lionscar’s face made Dawnpaw want to burst out laughing. “Shut up you annoying fur-ball,” he muttered.
“And I think Everflame would like to find out why you’re always so tired after the quarter moon?” she mewed innocently.
Lionscar dug his claws into the ground, but Dawnpaw knew he wouldn’t hurt her. “I’m a warrior now,” he said haughtily. “I’m no longer Everflame’s problem.”
“But he’s still the deputy,” Dawnpaw pointed out. She made an exaggerated thinking face. “I think that if you expect me to be quiet about all of this, then you owe me something.”
Lionscar gaped at her, hatred in his glare, and Dawnpaw once again struggled not to purr. She could have some fun with this.
“Well what do you want?” Lionscar finally asked.
“That’s the thing,” Dawnpaw began mischievously. “I don’t know yet. We will just have to wait and see.” She turned and nimbly darted away, waving her tail as she went. I wonder how long he will just stand there!

“Dawnpaw?” Shadowpool called as she padded into the medicine den. “Ambershine?”
Ambershine and Dawnpaw both lifted their heads at the same time. “What is it, Shadowpool?” Ambershine mewed. “Another thorn in your paw on a patrol?”
Dawnpaw looked up and saw that Shadowpool looked anxious. “No,” she answered quietly. “It’s not that.”
“Well what is it?” Dawnpaw asked.
“I think I’m expecting kits,” Shadowpool murmured. “Nettlecreek’s.”
    “That’s incredible!” Ambershine exclaimed.
It’s a good thing, too, Dawnpaw remarked. Now that Deerpaw and Branchpaw are apprentices, there are no kits in the nursery.
Shadowpool, on the other hand, didn’t look nearly as happy as Ambershine did. “I really like being a warrior,” she meowed. “I’m not sure I want to give that up just yet.”
“You can still hunt and do warrior duties once you’re done nursing,” Ambershine suggested. “I’m sure cats like Fallowleap, Luna, or Cherryfur would help you.”
Shadowpool nodded, brightening slightly. “Yeah, I guess you’re right. Can I still train Branchpaw until I’m close to kitting?”
Ambershine shrugged. “That’s up to you. I wouldn’t risk doing too much, but plenty of she-cats choose not to move into the nursery until the last minute. Let me see.” She examined Shadowpool closely. “You’re about a moon along. You can continue your warrior duties for another half-moon, but go easy.”
Shadowpool started to look more sure of herself. “Okay, thanks. I guess I’ll go tell Nettlecreek now.”
When she was gone, Dawnpaw turned to Ambershine. “Can I help with the kitting?”
Ambershine purred. “Of course! You’re training to be a medicine cat, after all.” She sighed. “It will be nice to have kits around here again. I just hope this leaf-bare is easy.”
Just then, Stoneskip limped into the den. “Thorn in my paw!” he gasped. “I was on a hunting patrol!”
“Alright, calm down,” Ambershine soothed as she led him to the empty nest. “You’re not dying. Everyone gets a thorn in their paw at some point. Dawnpaw will treat you.”
“I don’t want the apprentice to treat me!” Stoneskip whined.
Dawnpaw approached the cranky warrior. “I can get your paw cleaned up in no time,” she assured him.
“You better,” he muttered. “I want to get back out there.”
Dawnpaw glanced back at her mentor. “Marigold pulp since the wound is dirty, right?”
    Ambershine nodded. “You got it.”
Dawnpaw inspected Stoneskip’s paw. “You dramatic fur-ball!” she exclaimed. “That is the tiniest thorn I have ever seen.”
Stoneskip shot her a glare. “Just fix it.”
Dawnpaw nipped the thorn and slid it out of his paw, ignoring the grunts of pain. Any cat would think he was dying! She chewed up two marigold leaves and rubbed the dressing on his injury, tying a cobweb around his paw to keep it from coming off. “Just go easy on it,” she advised. “You don’t want it to get infected.”
“Thanks,” Stoneskip grunted, already halfway out of the den. He poked his head back in. “Also I heard Lynxnose coughing earlier. Looks like greencough isn’t wasting any time this leaf-bare.”
Ambershine and Dawnpaw shared a worried glance. “I have a feeling that this won’t be an easy leaf-bare,” Ambershine grumbled.

“Leaf-bare is hitting us hard this year,” Needlestar meowed heavily one moon later at the Gathering. “Lynxnose, Redfall, and Duskrunner have fallen ill with greencough, and prey is scarce. But on a better note, Shadowpool is expecting kits, and we have two new warriors, Lionscar and Izzy. We also have two new apprentices, Deerpaw and Branchpaw.”
    “Lionscar! Izzy! Deerpaw! Branchpaw!”
Dawnpaw was nervous about what Nightstar was going to say. She was the only leader who had yet to speak, and Dawnpaw knew it wasn’t going to be good. Dapplestar had announced frigid weather and poor hunting, but also the warrior names of Brindlefur, Sorrelflower, Applenose, and Moletooth. And Reedstar spoke of Sandmouse expecting kits, a hope for the shrinking Clan. Dawnpaw was scared for the LakeClan she-cat, though. Without a medicine cat, who would help her deliver her kits?
Nightstar stepped forward, and Dawnpaw tensed at the look of rage on her face.
“Unfortunately, I must admit that ShadeClan is not doing well,” she growled. “We lost Ravenpelt, a loyal warrior, and now his four kits will grow up fatherless. His mate, Palelight, has been so depressed that she can not even properly take care of them.” She lifted her face, her eyes filled with anguish. “This is not ShadeClan’s fault!” she screeched. “It is PineClan! Their apprentice killed him, and he was made a warrior in return! They rewarded him!”
Dawnpaw heard Flowerpetal of LakeClan gasp. “Is that true?”
Dawnpaw fluffed her fur out. She could understand the other Clans’ disgust at what happened. She had felt the same way before her father had reasoned with her in a dream.
“Yes,” Nightstar cried. “It is true. Don’t you see the evil behind PineClan?”
Reedstar narrowed his eyes at Needlestar. “I thought you knew better than to teach your apprentices how to murder.”
Needlestar hissed. “Lionscar was only protecting Lilypaw, who Ravenpelt was about to kill.”
“Because she was about to enter the nursery!” Nightstar screamed. “Ravenpelt was protecting his family!”
“She didn’t know it was the nursery!” Needlestar boomed. “She was a fairly new apprentice, and would have turned right back around once she saw it was the nursery. Lilypaw never would have tried to hurt a kit. She knows and respects the warrior code. Ravenpelt didn’t have to try to kill her!”
“Ravenpelt was my son!” Nightstar exploded. “My son is dead because of your Clan!”
A heavy silence stretched over the Gathering. Dawnpaw was stunned. You’ve got to be kidding me. Out of all of the cats in ShadeClan, why did Lionscar have to kill the leader’s son?
Beside her, Lilypaw trembled. “Is this my fault?” she whispered.
Dawnpaw pressed up against her sister. “Of course not,” she soothed. “It’s no one’s fault. Nightstar is just upset because it was her kin who was killed.”
“But the only reason that her son was killed was because of my stupid mistake!” Lilypaw sobbed.
Dawnpaw was about to say more to comfort Lilypaw, but Nightstar had started speaking again.
“It is because of these radical acts that I am declaring war on PineClan!” Nightstar shrieked.
Dapplestar blinked. “Don’t you think that’s going a bit far?” she asked. “I understand you are grieving, but you have to think about what is best for your Clan, not just you.”
Needlestar nodded in agreement. “The Clans have never gone to war against each other,” he added. “I don’t think this is a good idea.”
Reedstar drew his lips back in a snarl. “Why not?” he challenged. “Nightstar has every right to be angry.”
Nightstar lifted her tail to signal for silence. “My mind is made up,” she hissed. “ShadeClan is officially at war with PineClan.”

AYYY! Back on it with CHAPTER THREE!
(Hooray! The votes have been counted! She has chosen No!)
“Sorry, but….. no.” Ravenkit tells me.
My eyes go wide with betrayal. “What?” I gasp.
“Pigeonkit, I can’t. I’d rather wait one more moon to be an apprentice than risk my life trying to be one early.” Ravenkit says. Her river blue eyes glitter with sorrow. I can tell she wishes she’d gone with me, but she has her reasons.
That won’t stop me though. After all, I’m two moons younger than her! I have to wait even longer to be an apprentice! So I’ll go by myself! And instead of that dumb old mouse, I’ll go to the Shining Stone and get a prophecy for TigerClan! I’ll be a real hero, and everyone will respect me as Pigeonkit, the greatest kit of all time!
I race away, Ravenkit’s calls echoing behind me. I don’t care! She chose to stay! And I choose to leave!
Am I angry? No I’m not. Okay, maybe a little.
I run through the ferns and leaves, hopping over a twig as I go. This will be the greatest adventure ever!
I keep dashing and sprinting until I’ve run under the trees for some time, then I stop to catch a breath. A red leaf falls and I bat at it. It hits the ground and I bite back a squeal of joy, wary of alerting other creatures.
    Then, I see it.
    It.
A fat old sparrow sits directly ahead of me. It’s pecking worms and dried seeds from the ground and hasn’t noticed me. The poor bird looks like flying ten feet would take all its effort. I slink towards it, hidden in the shadows. All I can think about is how good it will taste when I bite into it. It will be an easy meal for Pigeonkit the great!
I leap at it. It squawks in fear, but that’s the last sound it makes before its throat explodes into blood as my claws slash it, soaking my fur in the sticky stuff. I yelp and jump back, but my fear turns to delight at the smell of freshly killed sparrow. “Yum!” I lick my lips. Hmm. Tastes like bird blood.
I decide stopping here to eat is probably not a good idea because large birds, like in the elder’s tales, might steal it, so I clean the sparrow blood off of my chest fur and drag my bird into a deep, shady hole under some lush plants that smell great. (Author’s note: It’s catmint.)
Yuck! Even through the yummy plant smell, this hole smells gross! And I think I hear something huge coming. But if I leave, the birds might get me!
    SHOULD PIGEONKIT LEAVE OR STAY?
    A. Leave
    B. Stay

    Rain on the River

    “But they did.”
Xe flicked xer tail, staring up into the mist.
    “I don’t believe you.”

    Chapter 1

The feeling of her collar being off was amazing. She danced around the forest floor happily. The wind ruffled her neck fur, but she didn’t care. All of a sudden the wind picked up, and she smelled something. Whatever that is it smells good! She opened her mouth so her scent glands could pick up the fragrance better. It’s a bird! She jumped up excitedly. She had never caught a bird before!
She crouched down, letting her body fall into a natural crouching position. She moved her way forward, then leaped. She jumped high in the air. She was almost there! Looking down, she saw a pair of gleaming eyes. Looking down caused her to go off balance and come crashing to the ground, without the bird.
She heard the sound of something hard clanging against the floor. Was it rain? She whipped her head around, but all went dark. She still heard the clanging sound! Then she opened her eyes. The cool moonlight streamed through the windows, onto her bed. She got up and stretched. She looked down and realized the clanging noise was the house-folk pouring pellets into my dish. She sighed and walked over to the dry food, and forced herself to eat a couple mouthfuls.
She walked over to the plastic hanging door and went through it. The cold and brisk night air greeted her. She walked over to her box of rocks and put her dirt in it. Then she jumped up onto the fence, peering into the other yards. All of a sudden a twig cracked. She unsheathed her claws and called out. “Who is it? I will attack, so show yourselves!” Her friend Dot appeared. She had black and white patches all over her body, making her pelt look beautiful in the moon rays.
“Don’t hurt me!” She shrieked. Then she realized it was her. “Oh Gingersnap, it’s you!” Her eyes clouded with relief.
She felt the battle in her roll off her back quickly. “Hello Dot!” She mewed in a friendly way.
Dot jumped on top of the fence with her. Dot rubbed up against her and purred a greeting. “So, you staring into the wild again?” Dot asked calmly. “And, don’t you dare think about going in there! Do you remember what happened to Henrietta when she went in there?”
Gingersnap did remember. Henrietta was a plump tabby She-cat, who sat around all day lazily. But that was after she went to the vet. Before, she went exploring in the woods! She even caught a robin one time! But then, a wild cat chased her away, and she never went again. Gingersnap nodded her head.
“So, don’t go! I don’t wanna lose you!” Dot hissed urgently. She scrambled over Gingersnap, stepping on her head in the process, so she could stare at her directly. “Don’t go! This is my only warning…”
Gingersnap shrugged it off like it was nothing. She stepped a paw into the forest, and the smell of the fresh forest scent greeted her. All of a sudden, she heard her house-folk calling for her. She usually would go back by now, but ignored them this time. They called again, but eventually went inside.
She crept forward, not looking behind, and opened her mouth to try and scent anything. A mouse! She thought excitedly when she scented it. She spotted it eating a berry near a tree. She fell into her natural hunting pose and crept slowly forward. She felt the breeze hit her face and she sighed with relief. She was downwind! She crept forward even closer, and then pounced. She jumped on the victim, and tossed it into the air. She let it drop, stunned, and let it try to scurry away. She grabbed it just in time, every time she did it. She was about to give the blowing strike, when she heard something behind her. She turned around, but then whipped back around. The mouse had escaped! She was furious!
She whipped around to see who caused her to lose her catch! A silver streak was heading towards her! She tried to run away, but then realized she should turn around and fight! She whipped around, and her enemy rammed her in the chest. She had the wind knocked out of her, but she was still standing. Her opponent however, fell back dazed. She sniffed and realized it was a She-cat. She must have been surprised by me turning around!
She was about to declare a triumphant mrrow when her attacker jumped up and tackled her! They were a writhing ball of fury. One paw hitting another, they didn’t stop! Then they quit. They just backed off and sat down licking their ruffled fur down.
“Hey I’m Silverpaw and what is your name kittypet?” The she-cat mewed.
    Gingersnap stepped back. “What?”
Silverpaw looked up. “Well, what is your name? And you sure did fight good for a kittypet!”
Gingersnap glared at the silver Persian. “And I’ll fight you again if I have to! If you’re the most dangerous thing out there, I am sure I will be able to handle it!”
SIlverpaw just looked at her. “Silly kittypet. If I was even half a warrior, I would have given you some injuries to really think about.”
She didn’t like the way she was calling her a kittypet. “I am not a kittypet!” Gingersnap growled. “I am a normal, REGULAR house cat!”
Silverpaw just went back to smoothing down their fur. “Well yeah, but house cats and kittypets are the same. You are a kitty and a pet so…” She trailed off.
It now made perfect sense to Gingersnap but she still glared at the cat.
All of a sudden Silverpaws head snapped up. “Bluestar and Goldenheart are here…” Silverpaw opened her so she could locate them better.
“Who are they?” Mewed Gingersnap loudly. “Are they as dangerous as you?” Her whisker’s twitched in amusement at her own little joke.
Silverpaw wasn’t laughing. “Bluestar is my leader and Goldenheart is my mentor! They are full warriors, and a lot more dangerous than me!” Silverpaw was practically growling. “Run back before they come!”
All of a sudden a blue tom-cat stalked out of the bushes, followed by a golden colored she-cat. “Stop!” The tom ordered.
Gingersnap could tell they meant business so she sat down in front of them, her whiskers quivering. She looked over and saw Silverpaw dipping her head, so she copied her.
The tom and the She-cat lashed their tails from side to side. “You may raise your heads now!”
Silverpaw quickly raised her head and stared the golden one in the eyes, and Gingersnap copied her, except looking into the tom’s eyes.
“I saw the whole thing..” The tom trailed off. “You fight well for a kittypet. Most kittypet’s would just run away, while you stayed and fought.” He sniffed Gingersnap. “You have not been to the cutter yet..”
She looked over and saw the she-cat staring at the tom with wide eyes. “You aren’t thinking of letting her join Bluestar! Are you?”
SIlverpaw stared at Gingersnap horrified then at the tom, who I presume was Bluestar, and her mouth gaped open. “But, but, but! We need pure warriors blood!”
Bluestar’s eyes clouded. “Pure warriors blood..” He mewed softly. “Too much of that has been spilled lately..”
Gingersnap didn’t know what to do. She just wanted to go back home, right? She stared into the tom’s pale blue eyes. “Look, I just wanted to catch a mouse or two, I am sure you can spare. Then I will-”
“Nonsense!” Bluestar’s eyes were filled with anger now, and something more. “There is never enough prey in the forest to spare! You hunt for play, we hunt for survival!” He had added an extra growl at the end to make it more menacing.
Gingersnap quivered. “I- I had not thought of it that way.. I am sorry” Gingersnap dipped her head even lower.
Bluestar’s tone softened. “If you wish to join Thunderclan, Goldenheart will meet you here tomorrow, at sunhigh. Tell her your decision then.” And with a flick of his tail he lept into the bushes, followed by Goldenheart and Silverpaw.
SIlverpaw paused before she left. She turned around, and nodded without a word. She leapt into the bushes, racing after them.
Gingersnap let out a breath, she didn’t realize she was holding. She padded towards her housefolk’s home, unsure of what to do. She reached the soft grass and rolled around in it. It started to rain lightly, but she didn’t want to leave yet.
Dot appeared. “Oh Gingersnap! I thought you were a goner!” Dot jumped down and licked her old friend. “I missed you!”
Gingersnap purred, but shouldered her off. “I’m fine… Dot, you don’t have to be so worried!” She mewed softly, knowing that Dot only cared for her. She nuzzled Dot, but sighed. “I have to tell you something.”
Dot’s tail flicked from side to side. “What is it? You seem troubled dear.”
Gingersnap chuckled softly. Dot always seemed older than she really was. In fact, she was the same age as her, 6 moonfulls. “I was offered to join the wildcats.”
She let out a yowl of surprise. “What?? You aren’t going to take it, are you?” Dot stood up and hopped on her fence.
Gingersnap’s face was tilted down in guilt.
Dot’s eyes flashed with unease and concern for her friend. Something else too. “Well?!?”
Gingersnap looked up at Dot, giving her a pleading look. Her fiery pelt glowed in the moonlight, despite the rain. “Well- I uh, think I might.”
Dot frowned, but nodded gravely. “I understand, but tomorrow we will go and see all of our kittenhood friends. We will go everywhere!”
Gingersnap’s pelt prickled with more guilt. “You see, the thing is… I am leaving tomorrow.” Gingersnap felt her warm chocolate brown eyes burn into her pelt.
“What! No! B-but!” Dot looked like she was about to cry. “Oh, Gingersnap! I love you!”
Gingersnap’s feelings for Dot came out like a flood. “I know you do. I love you too. But I need to do this. You should come with me! We could meet all sorts of different cats, you wouldn’t have to go to the cutter, you could have kits!” Gingersnap wanted Dot to come with her so much. Dot couldn’t bear to be without Dot, she was her only friend!
Dot’s eyes clouded. “That’s not what I meant.” Dot looked like she was remembering a distant memory. Then she snapped back to reality. “Ok, I will go with you. But promise me one thing. You will always be my friend.”
    Gingersnap smiled. “Of course.”
She and Dot said their goodbyes and each of them stalked off into their own homes for the last night there.
