sad little paragraph from Novas book (current draft) I’m gonna make some art of this or recreate it as a comic strip

we searched for a long time. the sun had begun to rise about the time we had found her. but I t was in a state none of us had perceived.
“NO!” I screached.
“Mother…” murmered King. he took slow steps towards her unlike me who ran towards her, burying my face in her golden fur.
“she died protecting you, pups.” raven pulled me back with my scruff. however hard I struggled against his grip, it was useless. he would not let me go.
“please, let me say goodbye,” I wimpered. he sighed, staring at his sister.
“I’m sorry young pup, shes already gone to the spirit world. we were too late,” he said solemnly. he directed us back to the den but I once again objected, “we cant just leave her here! the ravens and crows will get her! and bears! they’ll take her.”
“shes right,” said king after his long period of silence, “wolves do not leave their own kind for the scavengers. we need to hold a funeral for her, to remember her.” raven had no choice but to agree. he began to dig a hole for us to bury mother.

this was my fault. I alerted shadow and he came for me. my mother was only trying to protect me from my own mistake. if I haden’t sent ochre and gone instead or even gone with ochre, all this would have been avoided.
“Nova, darling. you mussint think that!” a familiar voice said. it was soft and melioudus. it was mothers!
“mother! where are you!” I turned around in the darkness.
“live your life without greif, without blaming yourself. this was not your fault. shadow would have found our den even without you alerting him. Nova, its not your fault,” she said.
