Hi Vixen, thanks for being patient with us – we wanted to make sure our response was thorough and as compassionate as possible. We’re really sorry you’ve been feeling ignored and unappreciated – a lot of other BlogClanners have felt this way, and while that knowledge doesn’t erase the pain you’re feeling, it may provide some comfort as it shows you’re not alone in this. Everyone who responds to your comments does so because they want to – maybe they share an interest with you, or they want to get to know you better, or they enjoy chatting with you. Some people have reflected surprise at how friendly the blog is to newcomers, especially if they’ve witnessed other spaces online that haven’t been as welcoming, and they have (unfortunately) at times believed this to be because people are only pretending to be nice, but my nearly 9 years here has taught me that that’s not true. People are just friendly and they want to get to know you. Now, that doesn’t mean that no one has ever accidentally skipped over your comments – people can be careless or forgetful and it can hurt to be on the receiving end of that, but that doesn’t mean that people don’t want to chat. They may assume you don’t want to participate in an activity if you wait for an invitation rather than jumping in and, from what you’ve said here, it seems that assumption is wrong, but it is more an indication of a misunderstanding rather than malice. I’m happy to chat with you more about how you’re feeling or your interests, or we can brainstorm ways to reach out to other members if that would be of interest. It may be easier to start small and find ways (like a secret page) to chat with one or two people and carve out your own niche on the blog, especially if you’re worried about jumping into ongoing large discussions.
