The cats of Warriors gathered at the gathering island. Ominous wind whispered through the trees. Tension hung in the air, some from worry, some from anticipation, and even excitement. A Black and Brown long furred she-cat leapt up onto the Great Oak. She was wearing a great big poofy wig and her face was white with makeup. She called out to the cats gathered below.
“Greetings!” She said, “I am Finchthorn! You understand why you are all here. Tonight, it will be decided who will compete in the first annual Hunger Games of the forest!” Murmurs rippled through the crowd below.
“I will now call out the names of the cats competing! From District 1, Gremlin and Scourge!”
“Now onto District 2. From our second district, our tributes will be Red and Harley! From District 3,” Finchthorn announced. “We have Scorchfur and Flametail!” Cheers mingled with gasps of shock rose from the ShadowClan crowd as the strong warrior and the medicine cat clambered up the grand tree.
“From District 4,” Finchthorn went on. “Feathertail and Reedwhisker!” The fluffy cat announced. Both tributes padded up to the tree and hauled themselves up next to Scorchfur and Flametail, Reedwhisker looking nervous while Feathertail had a fearful gaze lit up with determination. An ear splitting cheer rose up from the RiverClan cats below.

Finchthorn’s yowl silenced the gathered cats.
“From District 5, she was abruptly cut off by a yowl from below.
“I volunteer as a tribute.” Mudclaw said confidently.
“Are you sure?” Finchthorn sighed. “Fine. I guess our tributes are Mudclaw and… Onestar!” Gasps reverberated throughout the mass of cats as both tributes clawed their way up the great oak. **(Thorni note: there are two toms here but ehhhhh oh well)**
“From 6, we have Snow and Tree!” The two cats took their place on the tree. A wail of grief rose up from the place Violetshine was seated.
“District 7, our tributes are Darktail and Needletail!” Gasps from the cats below rose up as Needletail circled her way around the ThunderClan cats while Darktail pushed through the middle. After Darktail confidently climbed up the Great Oak and sat beside Rootspring (who was shifting uncomfortably), Needletail clawed up the trunk and shimmied across the branch to the end next to Ivypool.
“District 7, Darktail and Needletail!” Gasps from the cats below rose up as Needletail circled her way around the ThunderClan cats while Darktail pushed through the middle. After Darktail confidently climbed up the Great Oak and sat beside Rootspring (who was shifting uncomfortably), Needletail clawed up the trunk and shimmied across the branch to the end next to Ivypool. Finchthorn worked her way up the list of districts as the cats she called clawed their way up onto the Great Oak.
“Snookthorn and Princess!”
“Mapleshade and Hawkfrost!”
“Bristlefrost and Ivypool!”
“Rootspring and Leafstar!” The powerful tom and the SkyClan leader both confidently padded up to the Great Oak. Rootspring then fearfully glanced up at Bristlefrost who met his eyes in shock. Leafstar was already hauling herself onto the branch, so Rootspring followed. Finally Finchthorn announced the tributes of district twelve.
“Brook where Small Fish Swim, and Talon of Swooping Eagle!” Both tribe cats clambered onto the branch with the others.
“Good luck to all!” Finchthorn declared. “And may the odds be ever in your favour.”
