“Years and years ago, a kit was born. A kit with something different about them. One eye opened first, a beautiful amber eye and then……. the second eye. As elegant brown as the thin tree branches.
    “Monarch”
The name whispered between two cats, love and happiness glowing in each of their faces. But Monarch was different in so many other ways. He was a massive cat, with strength unchallenged and faster then any other. After he watching his parents for moons on end, he came to a realisation. His father with deep brown eyes was gifted at tunnelling, a wiry body that could chase rabbits through their tunnels and strong front legs, made for scrambling through mud and dirt. Whereas his mother with glowing blue eyes was the most graceful swimmer ever know in the forest and river. That was when he created the colony we live by today.
Segregated by eye colour, by the strength that was bred into us. Blue brought the gift of swimming, green the strength of climbing across the tree tops. Brown eyes birthed strong tunnellers, and yellow eyed cats were smart, smart enough to work with herbs and cure nearly any illness. Amber eyes were the sign of a strong fighter, with powerful muscles and a strong build.
All these clans were equal, apart from two.
    The Monarchy, and Reis.
The Monarchy, Monarch’s creation, were the overlords. They made the rules, took kits away from there parents the moment their eyes opened, and forced us to work. All because their eyes are two separate colours.
And Reis. Reis had strange eyes, greys, purples, reds and any mixture of colours. But both eyes matched. Monarch feared them, and sent them to live their lives as travelling entertainers, doing any odd jobs, they could be ordered around by any cat.
It’s no surprise they began to rebel.”
The dark brown she cat ruffled the kits fur, looking down at her with kind hazel eyes.
“What were you thinking Barknight ! If they find out….. you’ll be killed !”
A white she cat with dark brown eyes spoke gently in the little light
“It’s Brown, you’ll be caught if your not careful !” Brown mewed in response, her dark brown tail twitching
“You know I don’t agree with it !”
Brown glared at her leader, before turning back to the kit
“The Monarchy are not all bad, they gave us the gift of entertainment, obviously Owara gained the gift of stories, otherwise I would not be telling you this now !”
The kit looked up at Brown, his oak wood eyes flecked with a greenish brown, luckily unnoticeable enough that the Monarchy has not placed his in Reis
“But why story telling ? Ukulwa have a super cool contest !”
Laughing softly in the tunnels darkness, Brown swept her paw around the kits soft fur, and simply licked the top of his head in response, unwilling to reveal to the innocent child the consequences of tunnel life on a cats eyes ; the blindness that plagued their clan.

    ————

Ten weeks later, deputies and leaders were summoned, from all the clans.
The leaders fled the territories, never to be seen again.
Rumours went around that they would murder them all, for the spoken rebellion among them. But that would only be wishful thinking for the deputies. Where the leaders had fled, they had been scarred.
Scarred so badly they could never return to their duties.
Wounded to the brink of death.
Under the light of the moon, yellow and gold eyes worriedly glances at each other, pressing cobwebs to wounds.
    Six deputies at the start.
    Six returned, clinging to life.
Three left the healers alive, scarred for life and having to step down from their duties.
    One remained.
Barknight sat in the tunnels, her eyes shut closed, like always. Forced closed by deep gashes, never to open again. Her ears shredded, she could barely hear, barely hear the stories she cherished. Three legs, no sight, no hearing. Her muzzle twisted and broken, she was barely able to eat.
Dark brown fur mottled with scars, she lifted her paw only to push away tiny bit of food and water soaked moss.
    She didn’t want it.
Two weeks later, her body was found upon the ground, starved.

    ———

Then the message came, for all cats of the clans, put on the best show of your talents, to show the Monarchy your strengths, for they protect you and help you discover your inner talent. Whispers spread around, and the new leaders and deputy felt a burden heavy on their shoulders.

If this failed, they would have the same fate as their predecessors.

And everyone knew the story of Brown, or Barknight, as the Monarchy demanded her be named for her last few weeks of miserable life.

    The Clans Info

    The Society –
The over all name for the clans, including the Monarchy and Reis.
    All eyed cats welcome
    Rules –
    – No killing another society cat, unless the Monarchy commands it
    – All prey must be shared with the Monarchy
    – Never disrespect an authority cat
    – The moment a kits eyes open they will be placed in a clan, unless they have any reason to remain or not change to a certain clan
-E.g. webbed feet, allergy to herbs
    – Deputies must claim the name of their clans eye colour
    – E.g. Owara = Brown
    – Deputies must do anything their leader says
    – Any cat is higher authority then Reis cats
    – Each clan can have small edits and additions to these laws

    The Monarchy –
We are the most powerful. We are blessed with two different eye colours.
    – The Monarchy are superior to all, any crime against the lower clans is justified
    – A crime against the Monarchy will bring death upon you and your family
    – Even if your eyes are two different shades of one colour you are accepted into out ranks, however you must remember you are inferior to those with separate eye colours

    Owara –
These are the brown eyed cats, tunnellers, with the gift of storytelling. They are very rich in culture, and traditions
    Rules
    – A kitten must open its eyes in sunlight or it is deemed unlucky
    – Marriages are to be arranged by the leader, but can be changed, if either cat is very unhappy
    – To change part of a well loved story is a crime and gets you placed on apprentice duties

    Kaukau –
The blue eyed cats of the river, these strong swimmers. They have the gift of collecting, and are usually the most clan centred, relaxed cats.
    – Kaukau lives by the saying ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ so much that some kits are unaware who they’re true mother and father are
    – To steal a cats collection is a crime, and could get an item or two stolen from yours
    – The moment a kit shows interest in training they become an apprentice, regardless of their age

    Arbulu –
Fast and nimble, the green eyed cats of the trees race for entertainment. They deliver messages to others, and are usually easily bored and excitable
    – Every moon, a race is held between all the cats of the clan, although the weaker race along the ground
    – The moment a weaker cat (running the ground) beats you in a race, you must retire
    – Failure to deliver a message gets you removed from the races, therefore making you less respectable and causing cats to doubt your ability

    Ukulwa –
Some of the strongest cats in all the clans, these amber and orange eyed cats are fiery and most of all, hate being mistaken for yellow or brown eyed cats. They are the Monarchy’s fighters, and enforce their punishments. They participate in a sparring and moss ball contest every moon, always in the same teams, whose names change each year.
    – Dirt-eyes and Buttercup are deadly insults, that usually result in physical punishment
    – It is fine to kill, if you have a good reason, you must appear before the leader to judge your actions
    – To cheat in the contest gets you demoted by the team, and are not allowed to participate in the sparring matches

    Dahon –
Yellow eyed cats are smart, that was what Monarch told us. So they have become healers. They grow gardens, which as well as being relaxing, helps them provide herbs for all the clans. They are the nicest and calmest cats in all the clans.
    – Never ruin another cats herb patch, otherwise you will be punished
    – You must help any cat that asks for it
    – Only bear kits after you are sure the clan can manage without you for the whole time you are nursing

    Reis –
These cats are the outcast, the ones with “other” eye colours. They were given no gift of entertainment yet worked out how to make art for themselves. They are rebellious, meant to travel around the clans and amuse them, doing any odd jobs. Now they use art to communicate messages to the rebels
    – Talk to the leader if you want to leave the clans, they will aid you
    – Never speak any of Reis’s secrets to another cat
    – If you don’t want to be part of the rebellious nature, you don’t have to

    Other Cats –
There are cats outside the society, some in more organised groups then others

    Rebellion –
These are the cats who hate the Society and want to defeat them. They have a leader and diplomats, who know all the secrets and help make decisions

    Rouges / Loners / Kittypets –
There are all forms of stray cats around, and some house cats. Some are rebellious by nature but don’t trust others, and some want nothing to do with the Society. A few even try and join the clans

    Role playing Rules !

    – Don’t control others characters. This is the main rule, and includes things like wounding a cat without the owners permission
    – Nothing that wouldn’t be allowed in a normal blog comment is allowed here
    – This is a pretty open Roleplay, but still, please tell me before making major plot points for your character

    Naming systems –

This is a pretty big thing, and you must follow these rules, there are no exceptions, the Monarchy would not allow it

    All Clans Naming

Kits – One word names, kits are very respected, as much as Monarchy cats
    E.g. Dark, Flower

Apprentices – Ancient style names, keeping the same word as their kithood name as a prefix
    E.g. Dark Fluff, Flower Song

Warriors – Normal warrior names, a combination of there previous name
    E.g. Darkfluff, Flowersong

Deputy – Their name become just a colour, the same colour as their clans eyes
    E.g. Blue, Yellow

Leader – Tribe names, linked to their warrior name
E.g. Fluff upon dark fur (Fluff), Flowers that sing in breeze (Flower)

    Monarchy Names –
These names will actually allow exceptions, and are more open

Kits – Their mother from other clans chooses a birth name for them and they keep it. One word
    E.g. Kelp, Claw, Night, Jump

Learners – The cats who begin to learn about the rules of the Monarchy start at 3 moons. Their training is brainwashing and sugar coated. They can choose whatever one word name they like as long as it matches one of their eye colours.
    E.g. Sun, Grass, Hare, Bubble

Trainees – This is where the cats are loyal to the Monarchy and begin their true training, at 6 moons. They can choose any one word name that they like. These can basically be anything
    E.g Screech, Stacy, Minnow, Dragon

Citizens – Full members of the Monarchy. Their names can be basically anything as long as it doesn’t follow the Ruler’s naming rules
E.g. Screech, Milly, Minnow Swirl, Fire from with a dragon (Dragon)

Adviser – Basically a deputy, their name must be two words relating to the colours of their eyes
    E.g. Minnow Grass

Ruler – The leader of the Monarchy and all the clans, they have a single word name, followed by ‘shi, which is the name of Monarch’s mother and therefore something he treasured
    E.g. Screech ‘shi, Milly’shi , Pike’shi, Flame’shi

Moving up in the world –
So your cat will start at whatever rank you choose (apart from a few which will be taken, I’m already claiming ruler with Screech’shi)
But you’ll want to level them up, won’t you. So you have to complete some tasks

    From kit – Apprentice
Draw, write or Roleplay your character showing interest in training, or showing a lack of interest in their clans matters

    From apprentice – warrior
Draw write or Roleplay your cat doing badly at one aspect of their training, and then doing well at that same or another aspect

    Warrior – deputy
My permission, a dead deputy, the agreement of other people and then draw write or Roleplay your cats ceremony, showing their feeling on their new name if possible

    Deputy to leader –
A dead leader and then draw, write or Roleplay your cat’s first announcement as leader

    Monarchy levelling

    Kit – Learner
Draw write or Roleplay your cats view on their position in the Monarchy whether born there or not

    Learner – Trainee
Draw, write or roleplay your cats blind following of the Monarchy’s rules whether they like it or not

    Trainee – Citizen
Draw, write or roleplay your cat training

    Citizen – adviser
Dead or retired adviser, and my / the clans agreement draw write or Roleplay your cat becoming the adviser

    Adviser – leader
Ha, you think Screech’shi will be giving up her throne anytime soon ? No thanks !

    Having kits ! –
Now this is quite an important aspect as eye colour defines a cats life…….. I’ve decided something that may or may not be popular.
Unless you have a plot line planned or some great idea that you want to follow out…….
I’m using a random generator to decide litter size and eye colour.
Gender and markings you can choose, but these two things I am randomising. I don’t want a million people having their kittens all have odd eyes.
    Nope.

Also for you cat to bear kits, you must draw write or roleplay them telling their mate, whether the litter was accidental or not, that they are pregnant.

And I think this is all, so now go onto to the wonderful miracle known as the form page and create a character !

Rebels – The ‘warriors’ of the rebellion, they can have whatever name they like
E.g. Lynx, Ellie, Duskfur, Opal Wolf

Leader – The leader may have whatever name they like !
E.g. Bounce, Ellie, Blackbirdeyes, Opal Eyes

    Diplomat – Leader –
A dead leader, my permission, the majority of the groups support and draw write or Roleplay their first announcements as leader.

    Having kits ! –
Firstly, cross clan relationships are 100% ok, but cats might try to avoid having kittens with a Reis cat, so not to mess up their family line. Having kits with a Monarchy cat is also 100% ok, and your cat might even be invited to join the Monarchy with their mate !
