Hello fellow Christian peeps 🙂
Do you guys have any tips on how to get more connected with Christianity? I’m trying to get more connected with my faith and I’ve started going to church on most Sundays, but do you guys have any other tips on how to feel more involved in your faith? 🙂
Hi Breezo! I’m so glad that you are trying to figure out Christianity! It’s amazing to hear:)
First of all, I would not tie yourself to a denomination (at least not right now). I feel like so many get caught up in such religious stuff that they lose sight of what matters.
I would join a Bible Study group for teens! It can be full of teens who are going through the same stage of life right now, so that’s helpful. I also have an app on my phone called First5 the gives a daily devotional. I also suggest getting a personal Bible to take notes in, and reading the NIrV (New International Reader’s Version) version of the Bible, because when i became a Christian, that really helped me out too.
I know that new Christians have a lot of questions, so here are some helpful books that often ask the biggest questions and concerns for Christianity, and biblical answers. One of my favorite ones is “Curiosities and (Un)common Sense from the Bible: 60 Devotions” By Anthony Russo. It really was interesting to me!
One of the reasons I became a Christian is because I wanted someone there for me: someone who would care for me no matter what came along in life. I quickly realized that sometimes at a loss for words, Jesus understands everything: Joy, pain, sorrow, laughter because he lived a human life just like us (I recommend watching “He gets Us, Jesus” commercials) It’s important to remember that Christianity is a relationship, not a religion. It’s about you and your relationship with a God who made you and loves you and wants know you as his child.
Everyone in JoyClan is here for you Bree if you have any other questions! Hope this helped! <3333333
Of course! 🙂 I’d be happy to share some ways God has taught me to walk closer with Him, and some of my experience and things you can try doing.
First it helps to remember that the goal is growing closer with, and connecting with, Jesus- reach out to Him. He loves us and is always willing to help those who seek Him! 🙂
Prayer is super important and helpful, and a way you can communicate with God every day!
The Bible encourages us to pray without ceasing and to pour out our hearts to God, (Verses are 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17 and Psalm 62:7-8 if you wanna look into those! 😀 ) so you can pray about anything, anytime, God will always be there to listen to His beloved children. 😊
Reading the Bible is a great way to get to know God and spend time with Him, as it’s His Word which we’re blessed with so that we can get to know Him and how to follow Him closer.
I’ve heard many people recommend starting with the Gospels, specifically the Gospel of John.
For my advice with struggles of facing confusion as you try to understand the Word, check out my next post. <3
Remember to ask the Holy Spirit for His guidance when sitting down to read, I've learned from experience how important this is, we humans can't fully understand God's Word and what He means on our own, we must rely on His Wisdom. Ask Him to guide you to what He wants you to read, and to guide you in understanding. The Holy Spirit has shown me so many incredible, eye-opening, wonderful things in the Bible- ever since I've started listening to Him I look forward excitedly to studying the Bible!
Listening to worship music is a wonderful way to connect!
Esther Mui writes a lot of nice Scripture songs, based on verses from the Bible itself so you can hear God's Word as you worship- maybe check her out, I've always found her songs lovely for connecting with God.
I try to make special time to really focus on God while I listen to Christian music, not only listening but praising God and spending time connecting with Him.
For me, what really helped me get close to God was the realization that my whole life revolves around Him, of course, the entire universe revolves around God and Jesus Christ- even the wind and sea obey Him! I've been learning to see that He's by my side every moment of my life so no matter what I'm doing I'm spending time with Him and should learn to remember that. 😊 Our lives aren’t divided into religious moments and “secular moments,” secular moments/activities don’t exist when it’s all done with and for God- and what an exciting thought that is! 😀 Everything we do shall be in the Presence of God, He’s always with us, our Best Friend, Father, Savior, His Holy Spirit goes with us anywhere we go and we can and should walk with Jesus, our Good Shepherd, throughout each and every step we take.
I’m so so blessed and grateful to have realized this! It’s really changed my life and the way I understand my walk with God, to realize how constant the relationship I’m graciously invited to have with my Creator really is.
I’ll pray you grow closer with Jesus each and every day! <33 That's the goal of our journey 😊
Read the bible! I recommend downloading the bible app and trying to commit to a year long whatsitcalled and just trying your best to read it every day. Also, I recommend joining a group in your church with other girls your age! Also, take my advice with a grain of salt. I do recommend joining a group though! If you have any questions on that topic, ask your pastor if you want specific answers because we on blogclan (no offence) do not know very much about stuff like that. At least i dont
Reminder for the times when, along our journey in studying God’s wonderful Word by reading the Bible, we may face confusion.
Don’t be discouraged if you get confused while reading the Bible or struggle to understand! When this happens it’s important not to get frustrated or discouraged but rather turn to God. Pray to Him, reaffirm your trust in Him and ask for help with understanding, and most importantly for the strength to trust Him. Proverbs 3:5 has been a comforting verse for me in times when I face confusion:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding” Just lean on God and keep trusting! <3
The next verse also promises, “in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” There are passages in the Bible that I was confused reading the first time, but after months or sometimes years of growing in my faith I came back to them to suddenly find new clarity!
Also, it’s so important to ask the Holy Spirit for guidance. I’ve been learning to pray for guidance before sitting down to read the Bible and He has done wonders!
It feels so good to be back. I missed y’all, I have so much to share from my much too long break! <3 How has everyone been?
Welcome back, dear sister in Christ!! <3333333
I'm so happy you've returned, you were already on break when I found out about this page and I'd love to talk more now that you're back! 😀
Hey Pinestripe!! Its really bice to meet yet another amazing Christian friend God has guided to this page! I’ve seen you around the blog before and I can’t wait to get to know you better!! ❤️❤️
Honey!!!!!!!
I’m SO glad you’re back! I’m good, you?
I’m terrific! I feel so refreshed after my break!
I just got back from our church’s winter retreat. On the last night (well the second night since it was two days long) they handed out little mustard seeds and we read two verses. The first one was in Matthew 13, verses 31 and 32:
“The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”
The second was in Matthew 17. The section was really long so I’ll just sum it up.
A man came to Jesus begging him to heal his demon-possessed son because he had already brought him to the disciples and they could not heal him. Jesus rebukes the demon and it left the boy. Afterwards, when his disciples asked why that hadn’t been able to drive it out, he answered:
“Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
They told us we could keep the mustard seed in that page of the Bible (it’s still there) and they handed out little note cards with a mustard seed taped on it and asked us, “what are the obstacles you need a mustard seed if faith to move?”
So yeah I thought I’d share that with you.
Also today is my spiritual birthday! It’s crazy to think it’s already been a year! (Still January 22, since I’m in CT)
That’s so awesome! 😀 <3
That’s incredible! Those passages are among my fave:D
That’s awesome, Aspie! That story is a great reminder that you need little faith to do the impossible with God. Thank you for sharing this! I’m also really blessed to hear that it was you anniversary spiritually, that’s so cool! ❤️
Hey guys, so sorry for being inactive for a while, I’m trying to be more active on this page 🙂
Anyway here’s a story for yall from the past weekend
So over the weekend, i went on a youth retreat with a bunch of people from my old church. I hadn’t seen these people in years, and I was really looking forward to seeing them. Things were going pretty well, and overall i had a really good time, but I realized that all the people i used to be really close to have kind of moved on (they weren’t distant or anything they just had other friends which is fine, I’ve moved on too). The first day i was feeling pretty lonely and thought to myself “i miss having somewhere I belonged”. This might be slightly overdramatic, but I haven’t felt like i belonged any time i went back to visit my old schools or church, and i was missing that feeling of knowing that you’re wanted.
Literally that same day, during the chapel we had, we were singing like normal and there was a huge crowd up near the stage (including me). I was worshipping and then this guy kind of sidesteps in front of me, but to the left a little. I glanced at him, not thinking anything of it, then saw the back of his shirt
In big, bold letters, it said “YOU BELONG” With “Romans 12:5” under it
I almost started crying. I hadn’t prayed the words I’d thought to myself, but seeing that made me realize that God was so close to me and He really did care and wanted me to know He wanted me with Him and I belong with Him.
So the next day, I was in line to get lunch and i was just thinking to myself. I was thinking about how i wasn’t sure if I belonged at the church i was spending time with, and my mind started to drift until i was thinking about Christianity and wondering if God actively wanted me or if it was just a passive thought. I was doubting I was even worth wanting (I know, He literally just told me the day before 😛 I’m working on my self-worth issues but sometimes thoughts like that still creep in)
So I’m thinking this and a girl steps in front of me to grab some silverware. I let her get it, and my eyes drifted to her shirt
In big, bold letters, it said “YOU BELONG”.
Guys, God still talks to us, and even if it’s small things like that, it really shows his care for every aspect of our lives <3
That’s awesome! God is so so Good, and it’s incredible the ways He talks to us! He’s talked to me so many times as well and comforted me and to me things I needed to hear, it’s such a blessing! <3333333
Very true Shadey <3333 thanks for sharing!
That’s amazing!
That’s amazing, Shades! He will always find ways to talk to us. I love this story, it almost made me cry. ❤️
To anyone on here:
I want to let y’all know that this is a 100% safe space for anything: venting, questioning, chatting about life- we’re here for you, and this is a no-judgement zone, because we are all human and need advice sometimes.
We welcome all Christians as well as Non-Christians (or people interested in becoming one) no matter what:)
Kind of a filler because this page is pretty inactive (XD), but just a nice reminder ❤️❤️
