  • The mysterious cat crept through the reeds, her paws not making a sound. The reeds rustled slightly as she brushed past them, putting the cat on edge. The cat stopped by the edge of the pond, putting her head down to drink.

  • Irismist yawned, stretching her tired limbs. She had been out late last night, practicing her magic in the far corners of Earthclan territory. It had been a while since she had tried them as a cat, and she had stayed up well past moon-high.
    As she stood up, Irismist concentrated on an image of herself as a human. Wrinkling her brow in concentration, she felt a familiar tingling sensation as purple sparks wound up and through her entire body. After a few more moments of tingling, she looked down to find herself a human dressed in her uniform, purple and green flowing shirt and skirt. Running her fingers through her hair while grabbing a forest green cloak off the ground, Irismist hurried out of the cave where she slept.
    Crisp, autumn air pinched Irismist’s cheeks as she climbed down the ledge where her sleeping cave stood. Her chapped hands gripping familiar rocks, Irismist wondered when enough people would join Earthclan for it to feel full. So far, it was only Otterbrook, and herself. Jumping off the last of the cliff she turned to face the clearing she and Otterbrook had chosen for a camp. Hurrying out the gap behind the ledge, Irismist wanted to take a quick walk before returning to her cat form.

  • A pair of storm-grey eyes peer through a gap in the leaves of a bush. A black tail tip is barely visible. The she-cat watches the EarthClan cats. She already has loyalties to another clan but… what harm could their be? Her blue-grey pelt pricks when Irismist looks her way, but EarthClan’s leader doesn’t see her. Her black right forepaw twitches. She pokes her head through the bush, then steps through. No one notices her as she surveys the camp. Nodding with satisfaction, she digs her black forepaw into the dirt. When she removes it, her paw-print glows. Suddenly, a stalk of catmint grows in seconds where her paw-print was. She turns to leave. Otterbrook, their medicine cat, will be happy about this, she muses. She can scent that they’re running low on catmint. Though she has the skills of a medicine cat, she wants to be a warrior for this new clan.
    “Irismist,” she finally calls. “My name is Bluefire. I want to join EarthClan!”

  • Otterbrook sorted through the herbs, glancing at the sky every so often. Irismist has been gone for a while now. I wonder if… No. Focus on your herbs, Otterbrook. You are the medicine cat. It’s your duty to heal this clan. she thought. It was a very small clan, just Irismist and herself. They needed to grow EarthClan. And they needed a deputy. Irismist was their leader, but they didn’t have a place for her to get her nine lives.

    Otterbrook! Focus! Her mind yowled at her. Otterbrook sighed. “Catmint is for greencough.. Burdock root helps with rat bites. Chervil helps with bellyaches. Stay away from deathberries.”

    Otterbrook stared at the entrance of camp. “We really need more cats.”

  • Four kits bounded out of the bushes. “Kits! I told you to stay hidden until I called,” Bluefire hissed.
    “We got bored,” one kit, a flame-orange she-kit with bright blue eyes and white paws, mewed.
    “We’re sorry,” another, a dark grey tom with storm-grey eyes and a black tail tip apologized.
    “Yeah, we’re sorry,” the last two chorused. One was a dark brown she-cat with cream paws, chest, and underbelly with green eyes, and the last kit is a pale blue-grey she-kit with black feather-like marks on her fluffy tail, a black tail tip, and jay-blue eyes.
    “Flamekit, Stormkit, Leafkit, Jaykit,” Bluefire sighed, addressing each of her kits with a flick of her tail. “What am I going to do with you?”
    “Hm…” Jaykit considered this. “You’ll have to… BATTLE US!” She screeched, leaping on top of her mother. The other three join her, batting Bluefire with their soft paws and laughing whenever she shoved one of them off. Ever since they’d had to leave their former clan. . . Bluefire shook the thought away. No. This is where I’ll live now. Flamekit bounced up after being knocked off again, and after a couple of minutes, the four kits were off of Bluefire and following her deeper into the camp. Where is everyone? Bluefire wondered.
    They reached the medicine cat den and Bluefire stuck her head inside. “Hello? Is someone there?”

  • The smell of herbs hit Otterbrook’s nose. Otterbrook let out a purr when she saw catmint there. She didn’t even have to go to a twoleg nest! Leaf-bare was coming up, that means greencough was going to come.

    As Otterbrook gathered the catmint, she let her mind wander. Irismist’s group has grown bigger, since their new deputy, Fawnberrry and Bluefire joined. Bluefire has been roaming off, where could she be?

    At this point, while Otterbrook was collecting herbs, Fawnberry and Irismist went off hunting. Bluefire was roaming off again, Otterbrook saw her leave the territory. She didn’t really mind, because she could just be hunting, or a weird scent caught her nose and she went to follow it.

    Otterbrook gathered the rest of the catmint, and went back to bring it to camp. Squirrels scampered from tree to tree, nibbling on nuts, while birds sang from the trees. Mice scurried around, but Otterbrook ignored them. She was a medicine cat, after all. Fawnberry and Irismist would catch them later.

    As she got into camp, she spotted a blue-gray cat looking around. Bluefire! Otterbrook thought. “There you are! You’ve been wandering off lately!”

    Bluefire looked at her paws. Four little kits came around her. Otterbrook let out a gasp. “Who are these?”
