Brook trotted through the forest and pricked her ears, wary for other cats.
Hearing none other than trees rustling, she dashed into a hollow tree.
Making herself comfortable, she decided to rest here and build up her energy.
Ryoko’s eyes flitted from tree to tree, watching for other cats. How many would there be before the bloodbath began? There were still only 4 in the arena, but she knew to watch her back. Any one of them could be poised to strike, if she’d only let her guard down. Deciding it was safe, she entered the forest. She longed to run through the open moor again, but she knew it was safer among the trees, where more scents mingled and she was less likely to be seen. As the shadows closed around her, Ryoko thought of home. Of Bailey, her mate. Their two kits, Jade and Flicker. How she missed them… She narrowed her eyes. She would win. Then she could see her mate and kits again. She only had to wait for the right moment to strike.
Shadow’s Secret Saw Brook settle and then spotted another cat running through the woods(Ryoko). She yawned and pondered on whether to follow this cat or not. “I guess I could.” She finally decided as she quickly leaped from branch to branch keeping pace with the other cat.
Shadow’s Secret focused on the cat, trying to force a memory to go away but it didn’t. She just gave up and let it sink in.”I’ll take care of you Shadow’s Secret.” A brown tom named Mud whispered. She clenched her eyes shut as a tear rolled down. “I won’t let Thorn hurt you anymore just trust me.” Mud pleaded. Shadow’s Secret looked up and nodded.”Okay.” It had been moons since her parents had left her and Thorn had just beaten her up again. “I’ll be back.” Mud murmured as he ran off. It had been hours since Mud had returned and Shadow’s Secret went to see what was taking so long. She ran off to where Mud had gone and gasped. In front of her was the battered body of Mud unmoving with glassy eyes and blood pooling around him from deep gashes. “No!” She cried as she nuzzled at Mud’s body crying. Shadow’s Secret winced as grief washed over her unbalancing her and making her topple onto the cat below (Royoko).
Ryoko yelped, rolling and throwing off the cat who’d fallen on top of her. “Who the heck are you?” She demanded.
Yin padded around the arena, leaping into a tree the first chance she got. She purred lightly, waiting to kill.
Shadow’s Secret got to her paws and shook out debris from her fur and sat down before replying”I am Shadow’s Secret, who are you?”
“My name is Ryoko,” she replied cautiously. The other she-cat didn’t seem like she wanted to attack, but… Ryoko couldn’t be sure. “What were you doing up a tree?”
“I was just sleeping and I must have fallen from a branch.” Shadow’s Secret lied. As long as she seemed harmless this other cat might not feel harmed and want to attack. “I can’t afford any wounds or weaknesses.” She thought.
“Sleeping in a tree? Are you crazy?” Ryoko asked bluntly. Even the idea of living in a forest appalled her.
“I just like the forest.” Shadow’s Secret shrugged. Another lie. Shadow’s Secret wasn’t too fond of the place herself. She preferred open land and bodies of water, both small and large in size.
Ryoko cocked her head. “You sure about that?” It wasn’t just that she was biased against forests. This cat, Shadow’s Secret, didn’t appear to be telling the truth.
“Yeah, I’m sure.” Shadow’s Secret replied. “Now how am I supposed to get out of this one?” She thought.
“Liar,” Ryoko said simply. “You know what, I’m done here. You seem like a nice cat, but you know what’s going to happen once that counter reaches max. So until then, don’t bother me, and I won’t bother you.” She forced the other she-cat to meet her eyes. “Is that clear?”
Shadow’s Secret hissed. “I won’t be pushed around.” She thought as she jumped at Ryoko snarling.
Ryoko dodged Shadow’s Secret’s attack and sprinted away into the forest. “Shoot. I was hoping to avoid starting a fight today,” she muttered as she raced through the trees.
Shadow’s Secret chased after Ryoko. She unsheathed her claws and tried to slash at her tail.
Ryoko dodged and slipped between two trees, breaking out into the moorland. She poured on speed, racing through the fast. No was Shadow’s Secret would catch her now. She was the fastest cat where she came from, even her mate hadn’t been able to compete with her.
Shadow’s Secret snarled in anger as Ryoko sped up. She would follow her scent trail until she stopped, then attack when she least expected it. Shadow’s Secret started walking. Soon Ryoko would run out of energy soon. She pushed back images of Mud from her mind and focused on how she would attack.
Ryoko dove into a tunnel and disappeared into the darkness, weaving through the tunnels, backtracking and retracing until she was positive no one could follow her.
(wow, she really made Shadow angry =D)
Shadow’s Secret walked for a while until she found a tunnel. She went inside and followed Ryoko’s scent. She was the best tracker of the rouges, and no one had ever escaped without being found by her. Not even the most skilled would remain hidden, Shadow’s Secret was sure she would find Ryoko.
(LOL what turned into making allies is now trying to attack the other XD)
Ryoko pricked her ears, realizing that somehow, Shadow had tracked her through the tunnels. Growling with annoyance, she jumped into the underground river, paddling to keep her face above the water. Deciding there was no other way to evade the rogue, she let the current carry her downstream, swimming with it to boost her speed.
