  • Parrot smiled. “Nice to meet you,” she meowed cheerfully. She glanced quickly at Bo, or not Bo, but her sister, and back at Torrent.

  • You hear a loud noise, coming from the cavern entrance. It is now closed, shut by a large gray boulder acting as a barrier from the canyon. The dim light above you seems to glow brighter now. The egg is still lying in the center, looking at you like it’s waiting for you to make the first move. It’s even taller than it looked when you first saw it, and you have to tilt your head upwards to see the top. Reluctantly, you slide your claws out and try to crack the egg with them. Nothing happens. The egg does not look affected. You get a feeling that it’s going to take more than your claws or teeth to crack it.

(Take notice of the surroundings. The cavern walls are solid rock that’s been there for ages. There’s a small pool of water. Also, think creatively. There’s no wrong or right answer for cracking the egg open.)

  • “What if…” Torrent went over to the water. An idea lit her eyes. “That’s it!” Torrent leaped into the water, churning it with her back legs. Water splashed all over the egg. She pulled one of the dried flowers out of her tail. “If we rehydrate these, they’ll be super gross and slippery! Normally that sucks, but in here we can slide it on that sharp stone!”

    • Sleet-
Maybe these cats were smarter than she’d realized. “Good idea,” Sleet mewed, putting authority in her voice. “These walls are made of rock that have been there ever since the gods created the world. They should be good enough.”

      • Bo / Tammy –

“Be careful with the flower ! If you aren’t careful they’ll just crumble under your paws. That could ruin the whole plan !”
Glancing up at the egg, Bo tried to judge the height and weight of the egg.
“Maybe if I push from the back as well that might help. If we get a few cats to help that would work.”

  • Mangrove –

Rolling his eyes at the grumpy tom, Mangrove laughed.
“So, what’s your name ? And yes, I am thinking of ideas, but I work better when I talking.”
Mangrove went and judged how heavy the rock was, trying to push it slightly. It was heavier then he had thought. Maybe if the two cats worked together ?
“If we pushed it together, we might be able to budge it, maybe that water could help it move easier. We used that in the western kingdom to help move logs around. Though the ground was slimy already.”

    • Nectarine sniffed the rock, then back at the pool.
“Does anyone have something that can hold water? Maybe we could wet the floor? It might make it easier to move?” Nectarine looked at the toms, feeling more at ease with the brown tom (Mangrove) who looked and acted like Momo.

    • Sunset-
Unfortunately, Sunset was not built for strength. His lithe build would do any avors. But this tom though…he was large and strong. His three legs might hinder him down, but it was worth taking a shot. “I’m Sunset.” The tom’s voice was gruff. “Any of our natural defenses won’t help crack the egg. Maybe if we push it hard enough against the rock, that might work.” He looked around, and then stared at the egg. “That must be a pretty big bird.”

      • Frost mewed, “Well, in the Northern Kingdom, we use igloos as our homes, and sometimes we have to move them. Since the ice is slick, it moves pretty easily. If we don’t use water though, I can help push it.” Her muscles rippled under her pelt. “Like I said, we have to move igloos a lot, so I have practice moving heavy things.” She put her body up against the egg and began to push. Hard.

      • Mangrove –

As Sunset tried to push the egg, Mangrove splashed some water in a little path up to the egg. Hopefully this would make it easier.
He went to help push the egg

  • Parrot nodded. “Yeah! Great idea!” She went next to Bo to get ready to push. Parrot looked at her. “I know you’re not Bo. I promise I won’t tell,” she whispered.

  • Frost padded around the egg, blocking the chatter of the three-legged tom, trying to think. She heard a snippet of what the tom said- to use water to push the egg. She padded over to the pair of toms, one chatty, the other sullen. “How would we manage to get the water to the floor? We don’t have anything to carry it with.”

  • To Cavern C:

The moment Torrent splashes onto the egg, you hear a strange hissing noise coming from it. You notice that wherever the water hits, the egg starts to dissolve, forming small cracks in it. You wonder if maybe the water will help.

  • Parrot looked back to the egg as she heard a sizzling sound. The water seemed to be dissolving the egg, making small cracks. She splashed water into the same spot, hoping to create a hole big enough to stick her claw through and break a little off. Parrot tested it, and with some effort, she got her claw through.

  • To Cavern C:
You hear another hissing sound, though the egg is not dissolving anymore. You see mist coming out of the egg, and watch as it forms a word: north. You must go north to find the Fire Stone.

The mist and the egg disappear into dust. Standing in its place is a black-and-white she-cat with dark green wings. You recognize her as Spell, the cat from earlier.

“Congratulations.” Her voice is soft. If it weren’t for her wings or the green fireworks dancing around her paws and tail, she could’ve passed for a normal cat.

She turns to Torrent. “You are smarter and braver than you think. You have ideas and a fresh mind, young one. May you use those talents to follow your heart and benefit your kingdom.”

She stares at Sleet. “Don’t let your ambitions drive you. You’re a strong cat, and you will be respected. Just know that the world isn’t limited to mountains and caves and tundras.”

Her eyes seem to harden as she looks at Dusk. “Your overconfidence will lead to your downfall. Life is short. Enjoy it while you can.”

She faces in Bo’s direction, her green eyes softening. “Some secrets are better left kept, my dear. Remember that, and you won’t have to afraid anymore.” Her tail brushes Bo’s shoulder encouragingly.

Spell then flies in the air, murmuring something and waving her paws in a circular motion. The rocks seem to shift, and then, the rocks form a circular staircase, and a part of the cavern ceiling opens up, letting light and heat in.

Spell then flies back down, flicking her tail towards the pool. “I advise to drink some water. The desert offers little of it, and it will be a long journey. Then you must climb.”

(Just as a reminder, this is for Cavern C only. The staircase has no railings and is quite unstable, and it’s very easy to fall off. Northern Kingdom and Western Kingdom cats, who have learned to climb for all their life, will have an easier job with this, but it’s still challenging. Also, the cats in Cavern C will now be known as Group C, to make things easier.)

    • Dusk’s face was red.
“W-well clearly she wasn’t the smartest god!” Dusk’s claws slid out, his tail lashing with embarrassment.
What does she mean? Be nicer or something?
Dusk huffed, moving towards the staircase.
      “But still,” He muttered, “Congrats.”

(Spell basically just punched him in the face 😛)

  • (I am so sorry for being inactive, I’ll try my best to come more, but can someone explain to me what’s going on?)

    • It’s the first challenge. The cats have successfully crossed the river, chosen a cavern and cracked an egg that gave them the direction the which the Fire Stone will be. A goddess appeared and made them a staircase to get out of the cavern and into the desert, but it’s unstable and dangerous to climb. Group C and Group A have completed the first challenge, but Group B is still figuring things out.
