Claimed!
Claimed for my role play 🙂 Thanks pine!
Here is the info for my Roleplay, the Lumen Trials! Please make sure to read this before moving on to creating a character!
Some basic rules:
Keep everything blog appropriate!
Hate the character, not the player!
Don’t control other players!
Have fun!
The Place:
Fabula is a kingdom, a lone civilization in a land surrounded by dragons. High stone walls and magical protections keep the dragons out, and the inhabitants safe. Or, safer than they would be outside, that is. Fabula is not without its dangers.
No one can remember a time when Fabula was truly peaceful. It is filled with elves and humans, and the two groups despise each other. Once a leader takes power, it’s only so long until someone kills them off, usually a member of the opposite race. Because of this, the government is constantly shifting, and no one is ever in power long enough to get things settled.
The current king, an elf named Ferrum, has been on the throne longer than usual, almost 10 years. For his fellow elves, life has taken a turn for the better. For the humans, not so much. Despite the uneasy peace, they are suffering more than usual. Because, just as humans favor humans, the elves favor elves.
Under the rule of Ferrum, Fabula has been divided up into four states. One, Verum, is ruled by Ferrum himself. The other three have been put into the charge of his three children, which is part of why he’s managed to stay on the throne for so long. However, one of these children, Lumen, began to gain a bit too much control a couple of years ago. His state ran the best, flawlessly even. Ferrum was suspicious, as many would be after having watched leader after leader fall. So, Lumen was exiled. He died at the jaws of a dragon, like so many others.
Or so Ferrum thought.
Lumen is alive and well, and furious. Even if he wasn’t planning a rebellion before, he is now. He feels it’s time that Fabula had a new leader, and he needs help.
This roleplay focusses on your character’s journey to assist Lumen in his journey, for one reason or another. Maybe they hate the king. Maybe they like to kill. Maybe they want the power that Lumen is offering in return. Either way, they must compete to prove themselves worthy, and then assist the prince through the dangers ahead.
The States:
Verum: This is, in a sense, the capital of Fabula. It is run by the king himself, and is found in the center of the kingdom. The inhabitants are only elves, because humans are not allowed in the fine state. The families that live there are generally rich and important, and since it is far from the edges of the kingdom, it is the safest in a sense. While it lacks the rugged violence and natural threats of the other kingdoms, but it is crawling with spies and assassins who work for the king. Put one foot out of line, and the next thing you know you will find yourself in Exile, and shortly after the stomach of a dragon.
Inhabitants: All elves, with the exception of any humans stupid enough to try to sneak inside.
Common jobs: Royalty, politicians, rich merchants, anyone extremely successful, police officers
Caligo: This district is poor, but relatively free of violence. It is ruled by Nox, the king’s daughter. The families here often suffer from starvation, especially the human ones. Many of the humans are slaves to the elves here, and are forced to work in harsh and unsafe mining jobs. Although it is generally free of fighting, there is a terrorist group running about that Nox is struggling to stamp out. They attack only elves, but stoop as low as killing children.
Inhabitants: Elves, humans, rare hybrids.
Common jobs: Slave owners, poorer merchants, slaves/miners, terrorists, police officers (elves only).
Pontus: A seaside state on the shoor of the continent, ruled by the king’s child, Meridiem. It is rich in resources, so there is very little violence. In this state, humans and elves tend to get along better, and hybrids are fairly common. Most people are humble fishermen, but not everything is peaceful. Because it is on the shore, there are no walls on the edges. With only the magic to keep the dragons out, some occasionally slip through. It is not uncommon for someone to get eaten, and houses are sometimes burned.
Inhabitants: Elves, humans, hybrids are more common.
Common jobs: fishermen, boat makers, water related jobs, and police officers (elves only).
Cale: Cael was once the safest state in Fabula. Prince Lumen ran it well, and the people liked him. However, Ferrum grew suspicious of his son’s success, and exiled him without putting another leader in place. Very quickly, it fell into disarray. It is riddled with thieves, fugitives, and murderers, who are either looking for allies or a place to hide. The few civilians living here are in constant fear, and the police are struggling to keep control. Because of the constant stress of the job, the fact that essentially everyone is a criminal, and the knowledge that there is no leader to challenge their actions, police brutality is high.
Inhabitants: Elves, humans, rare hybrids.
Common jobs: thieves, assassins, smugglers, police (elves only).
Magic! There is magic!
For the most part, it is very weak. The royal family has stronger magic (which helped them gain control), but basically everyone else has only weak traises. There are five types which people can train in: Health, Light, Words, Space, and Heat. Your character will start with 15 magic points, but you will get more throughout the roleplay. You can put them all in one type, or put them down evenly, or whatever you want.
Level 1: (10-20 points.)
Health: Small cuts heal faster, and you don’t catch colds.
Light: You can see a little better than the average person in dim or bright situations.
Words: Your words are slightly more convincing than normal.
Space: You can open small portals to nearby locations.
Heat: Slightly warmer and cooler temperatures do not bother you.
Level 2: (20-49 points.)
Health: Moderately large cuts on you heal fast, and you can heal others if they have small injuries.
Light: You can slightly brighten or darken an area to make it easier or harder to see.
Words: You can now usually tell when others are lying or stretching the trust.
Space: You can open portals big enough for a person to nearby places.
Heat: you can burn or freeze someone if you touch them, but only mildly.
Level 3: (50 points.)
Health: you can heal any non-lethal wounds with some effort
Light: you can bring total darkness or light to an area for a minute or so, but the effects do not bother you.
Words: You can tell and see lies easily, and are very convincing.
Space: You can open portals to anywhere you’ve already been.
Heat: You can lower and raise temperatures in a place, and your burns/freezes are worse.
