Spiritflight and Coralpaw discuss ships from the series.
Fallowpaw defends Appledusk.
Claimed!
Claimed!
“Okay, so what do we do now?” Needlepaw pounced on front of her mentor.
“How about some battle training?” Thornwillow suggested.
“Yes! Yes! YEEEES!”
Thornwillow chuckled. “Alright. To start, why don’t you-”
He flicked his tail at Shatteredpaw, who perked up.
“Can try to defend yourself against Needlepaw.”
Needlepaw grinned and nodded. On a swift movement, she jumped into Shatteredpaw and pressed her paws against her shoulders, trying to have a steady grip with sheathed claws. She put all the weight she could on her paws and pressed her hardest, trying to make Shatteredpaw fall in the ground. She thrased her head to the apprentice’s ear and nosed it, pretending she was ripping it – what would happen if this was a real battle. (Permission to pin Shatteredpaw down?)
[Yup!]
Shatteredpaw attempted to slip her paw under Needlepaw’s, to trip her, but missed and was pinned down instead.
“Nice,” She gasped.
“Thanks!” Needlepaw meowed, backing off the other apprentice. She turned to Tempestwind. “Tips?” She asked, flicking her tail.
“Well, if that had been a real warrior, they’d have flipped onto their back.” Tempestwind meowed, then turned to Shatteredpaw and sent her a rather sharp glare. “Try harder, apprentice.”
Needlepaw’s neck bristled protectively. “She’s trying. I’ve just been training for a long time”, she meowed coolly, then flicked her tail again. “Thank you, Tempestwind.” She tensed her muscles and leapt for her mentor’s (claws sheathed) legs,t rying to get her to be unbalanced. //If she suceeded to make Tempestwind lose her balance://She pulled her mentor’s ears, trying to get her to roll into a side position//If she suceeded://She placed her paws firmly on her mentor’s, pinning her down and blocking her paws from fighting back. She looked warily at Tempestwind’s motuh and meowed “If you’d been a real enemy, you could bite my throat, I guess. Do you know how to solve it?” She trotted off her mentor and tilted her head.//If she did not suceed to do any of these://Needlepaw hit the ground with a loud BAK, gasping and scrambling back to her paws. She glanced at Shatteredpaw. “See? Sometimes trying hard doesn’t make you suceed”< she meowed pointedly, glaring at Tempestwind.
“She’ll just have to do better,” Tempestwind meowed coolly.
[then after Needlepaw succeeded]
“Good work,” Tempestwind said, before lashing out a paw and tripping Needlepaw. “But you’ll have to be quicker.” She scrambled to her paws.
Thornwillow shot Needlepaw and Shatteredpaw an apologetic glance, before stepping forwards. “I think they did alright. Why don’t you two try again?”
“That’s a good idea, Thornwillow”, Needlepaw mewed, feeling her paws tingle in excitment again. All the anger had magically disappeared the moment he said “try again”. She LOVED training, maybe even too much. “Why doesn’t Shatteredpaw start this time?”
“Sure,” Thornwillow nodded.
Shatteredpaw blinked, before crouching down and preparing to jump. This time, she lunged forwards, but her paws never left the ground. She tugged herself back, hoping to confuse Needlepaw, before leaping forwards and diving under her belly, knocking her paws out from under her.
Needlepaw lost her balance, trying to stand in two paws, and ratiotinated. She wanted Shatteredpaw to win, but in a way it didn’t seem loosely unrealistic. Needlepaw pressed her paws against Shatteredpaw’s back and ‘tried’ to climb it, her paws slipping through the flanks as she fell into the ground. She offered Shatteredpaw a smile. “Nice technique.”
Shatteredpaw smiled, but then leaned closer and whispered, “Please don’t go easy on me. I want to learn from my mistakes… not have to rely on apprentices being kind. That way I’ll learn nothing.”
“Good job!” Thornwillow praised. “How about we take a break to go hunting now?”
“Oh. Ooops!” Needlepaw blinked in embarassment. She wasn’t expecting Shatteredpaw to know her THAT well . “Ehr, sorry. Alright. That’s fair.” She couldn’t be the PERFECT fighter either, she decided. One day she’d have to get something wrong. It was impossible she wouldn’t.
“You two stay together, just in case foxes decide to rudely interrupt us.” Thornwillow meowed. “Have fun!”
“I’ll meet you at the Sandy Clearing,” Shatteredpaw mewed before darting into the forest.
Needlepaw nodded.
