Swiftpaw discusses some inconsistencies in the first series
Hi guys! Swiftpaw here and in my first article, I’m talking about some things in The Prophecies Begin, which seems that there could be some room for improvement here.
Vicky Holmes explicitly said that there was only meant to be one book, then only one series, then.. you get the idea. This means that they didn’t plan for there to be too specific rules, since which seems that there could be some room for improvement here.

First let’s talk about Firepaw’s apprenticeship. I think I heard from someone that he was apprenticed at 3 moons. Doesn’t the warrior code tell us kits will only be apprenticed at 6 moons? This is very important as this means BLUESTAR IS LIKE BORKENSTAR
in the terms of child labour. Why is everyone moaning about ShadowClan, (who are actually pretty cool) when ThunderClan are doing this right under their nose?
Second, the fact that ThunderClan has like 25 cats when the rest have like 3! Yes, I know that they were only gonna put the cats we would actually meet in the book, but couldn’t they have added a little more variety? Grow WindClan or something?
Finally, we got the twisty family tree, like the Whitestorm problem Moonkitti is always bringing up, especially when the books don’t give many details. Who are the fathers? Who are the mothers? How are we supposed to know? Like Redtail and Brindleface. Is Sandstorm their kit? We don’t know! If yes, is Brindleface even the mother? The Erins say no, the fandom says yes! Even if we were to say “Fine, the fandom is correct!” Is there any real evidence to support this?
As you can see, there are quite a few oddities in the first series that could have been improved on. Do you think there are more things I could have mentioned? Your comments are really appreciated!
Swiftpaw says see ya!
nice! I didn’t know they weren’t planning on continuing! Haha
I agree with the idea of the article but some things you said in it I don’t agree with
I am pretty sure that Firepaw/star was 6 moons old when apprenticed (he and Greypaw were made warriors at the same time)
It’s just that the allegations don’t mention almost any of the cats in other clans, this is often looked past. For example RiverClan DOES have more cats than ThunderClan just it’s not mentioned in the allegations.
Also I’m not trying to discourage you from making articles :))
Actually, Firepaw was 6 moons when he got apprenticed. I think its only Thornpaw and his sibling that got apprenticed early (i think 4 moons)
They were 5 moons, almost 6 hen they were apprenticed to my knowledge! Bluestar said they were close to being 6 moons when she told Firestar and Graystripe they were going to mentor them 😀 Then again, it has been a minute since I read the first series, so I could be wrong.
Shadowclan is totally cool yessir 😎
Ok, can I just say that you misspelled Brokenstar’s name but that it’s like THE BEST MISSPELLED WORD EVER
And ya, i recently reread the 1st series and was like WAIT HOW IS RIVERCLAN ALMOST EXTINCT??oh wait a sec… So, yep. Good article! Smokeflower salutes you! 😉
Yasss it was misspelled on purpose
I agree with you on the fact that 1st series family trees are a bit wonky! It is proven that sandstorm’s family was retconed, so she doesn’t have any parents, currently. I’m curious to see what the authors are going to do about it :0
Thanks everyone for commenting! I, yes did make some errors at the time of writing this, but thank you for your support nonetheless!
