For so long I thought the boy on the cover of book 1 was Fitz-
I actually used to think Fitz had red hair, for some reason. I was so sure that the first book described him with red hair and bright teal eyes… 😛

Do you guys think Sophie is a bit of a Mary-Sue? And even tho she has some flaws, they’re all things that are kind of Mary-Suish flaws. Like the fact she’s clumsy and Fitz or Keefe have to keep catching her? I don’t really know how to explain 😛
Sophie’s always the special elf that can do amazing things and has like 5 abilities and is pretty much oblivious to the fact that she’s pretty and unique and not weird and 3 boys had a crush on her. Isn’t that a bit Mary-Suish? What do you guys think?
My best friend gave up halfway through the first book because she thought Sophie was too predictable
She’s kinda Mary Sue-ish in the 1st book, but i really respect and admire her character
I don’t think she’s a Mary Sue! I don’t know how far you’ve read, but I liked how even in the first book (SEMI SPOILERS) she stole the midterm from Lady Galvin’s mind. She felt bad, yes, but she gave into the temptation. She wasn’t angelic in that action, and I like that for her character.
SPOLIERS FOR THESE: In the seventh book I loved how it took her so long to heal from the Neverseen’s attack on her. It was realistic, and we were there with her every step of the way. Even halfway through the book she was still in bed. I also liked how she tried to invade an ogre’s mind while knowing it was against the law. (END OF SPOILERS)
She has emotional outbursts, sulks, sometimes doesn’t say the right things to her friends, and can’t bounce back from all her injuries. There’s also a reason for her being overpowered, what with The Black Swan’s motives. I thought Messenger did a great job giving a character the Mary Sue traits you mentioned and flipping the expectation! 😀

I agree with Snowy, Sophie is overpowered and oblivious, but she isn’t perfect at all and I love her for it. She’s honestly one of my favorite characters in KotLC because I love her character arc and how she pulls through every challenge with her friends’ help. Also, she is a fellow insomniac and I relate to that a lot.

who is Sophie’s biological father? (I still don’t know.) I’m on unlocked. I think it could be Gethen, but he’s part of the never seen and he’s a telepath (which her father should have an ability that Sophie doesn’t have) and Sophie was created by the black swan and the never seen and the black swan are enemies

I don’t think it’s Elwin. Most people think so, but I don’t because he just seemed… really surprised when he first met Sophie, and Elwin doesn’t come across as a good liar to me.
I honestly have zero ideas – but I really hope it’s Alden because then Fitzphie would officially be illegal >:)

I have a theory. I think Sophie’s father is A HUMAN! My friend think it’s Ethan Benedict Wright (You know, the guy who got hit by a bus). IT ACTUALLY MAKES SENSE! But… I kinda think it will be revealed in the currently unnamed book 10 and it will be something really unexpected and make a really good scene.
I don’t think it can be a human, because that forkle guy said Sophie is 100% elf (maybe he lied but I don’t see why)
5 reasons why Elwin’s the best
1. He takes care of Sophie and always helps her out when she gets hurt <3
2. He's the only elf that wears glasses like me <3
3. He's a Flasher and the light is so pretty (His picture in Unlocked omg so pretty) 😀
4. He has stuffed animals. (OMG that scene in Chapter 2 of Stellarlune XD)

I’m trying to wrap my head around this bit of complexity:
I currently have four of my IRL friends reading KotLC for the first time. Rosepaw is on Neverseen, Hopeheart is on Exile, and Nutmegshine and Hazelpaw are both on book 1. That doesn’t sound complicated, but when you take into account that I’m the only person out of the five of us that owns a complete set of the series, it gets so much harder to work out who I’m going to lend what book at what time. I’m spreading KotLC, which is great because it means more fans to talk about it with, but it’s so hard to simultaneously not spoil anything for four different people AND try to steer them all onto the only right path: Sokeefe

The scene where Sophie first calls Edaline and Grady mom and dad in Everblaze just pulls on my heart strings, every time 🥹
One of my favorites is the scene in Flashback where Keefe and Sophie name the baby alicorns ❤
It’s so adorable, but so bittersweet at the same time.
Also all the scenes where Sophie’s having a breakdown and her friends are like, “we’re here for you.”

Keefe because of how funny and caring for Sophie he is, Biana because she’s just amazing and a great friend, and Ro because of how much support she gives Keefe and her confident personality!
I hate Alina because of how she was supportive towards Sophie, than as soon as she became part of the Council, she became a jerk.
I like Dexiana or Tiana, I loved the part when Dex let Biana cry on her shoulder and how Biana teases Tam sometimes.
I don’t have a least favourite ship but I honestly don’t really like Sokeefe as of right now, because of how Keefe and Sophie treated each other in Flashback. No offense because I know you guys all ship this and I definitely don’t want to debate about it 🙂
