[Brokenstar sits on the edge of a grassy cliff in the rain]
Hello everyone! I don’t really have an introduction, but the title hopefully explains what this’ll be about! Let’s get into it!
1. I prefer Leaf x Crow over Feather x Crow
I know, I know. There are multiple reasons for both sides about why both are good and bad, and i will be putting some counterclaims, like Feather and Crow had an amazing, healthy relationship! Stable?
Sure, I guess! Gonna happen? Nope! But adorable? Definitely!
I don’t see it working out though. Although Crowpaw liked Feathertail, it was more of a high school crush; not going to happen, even if Feathertail survived.
While Leafpool x Crowfeather is rushed at first, it has more screentime, bondage, and overall feels more complete and complex then the high-school-crush-Crow-x-Feather.
2. Brokenstar is a good villain
*dodges the flying fresh-kill* I never said he was a good cat with good morals! I’m just saying him as a villain is PURRFECT. He is terrifying, strong, charismatic, with plenty of weaknesses that are key for a good villain. His backstory is solid, his actions are….. not the smartest, but they were mostly successful! He is definitely an evil cat with evil intentions, and I doubt he cared for any cat but himself.
3. Snowfur x Thistleclaw is a good ship
Obviously it has its flaws, with the whole thing after Snowfur died (I’m not saying anything about it). But before that happened, it was amazing, quite adorable, and I have to say, sadly tainted with Bluefur’s biased point of view. It’s a good ship, even though Thistleclaw was bad. There are multiple instances in which he was shown truly caring for Snowfur. *cough* Also Whitekit *cough*
4. Bristlefrost is overrated
Oh, yes, I’m definitely hearing screeches from BlogClanners in the other room. But it’s true. Bristlefrost felt like only a camera in ThunderClan, and anything that she developed was because of the ship with Rootspring. I do love how she sacrificed herself to save the Clans (AS OF 5/4/24 WHICH IS WHEN IM WRITING THIS. I DO NOT KNOW IF SHE’LL COME BACK IN IVYPOOL’S HEART.) Speaking of Rootspring, anyway…
5. Bristle x Root is overreacted
Now that I’ve reread the Broken Code series, i have come to the conclusion that it is not as rushed as I originally thought. But it still isn’t as good as some other ships, even though people on here act as if it’s the best ship in the world 😀. It was still rushed, but not as much as I thought. Their relationship was cute though, I have to admit. They’re just a tad bit overreacted.
6. Mapleshade does not deserve StarClan
Okay, I have to say that before Appledusk cheated on her, she did indeed belong in StarClan. And we can feel bad for her and her kits. But just because she had some sort of “excuse” (which is barely even an excuse) to kill Ravenwing and Frecklewish doesn’t mean she should’ve. She killed a medicine cat, and a warrior in cold blood.
Oh, and let’s also point out that right before she died, she tried to kill Reedshine, who was pregnant with kits.
Kits, people!
Unborn, innocent little lives!
Even if Ravenwing and Frecklewish deserved what they had coming, which they sorta did but didn’t at the same time, she shouldn’t have done that! (Reedshine didn’t die, Appledusk got in the way to save her. But still, it was wrong of Mapleshade to even try that).
7. I don’t mind Onestar
Truth be told, I’ve only just read his super edition once, and I’ll probably never read it again, but still! I know everything he did was a bit selfish, not thought out, and other things. I can see exactly why everyone hates him, finds him annoying, etc. I just hate the “He was mean to Firestar” excuse. Onewhisker could have been great friends with Firestar, but not Onestar. He had a Clan to take care of us. Obviously that doesn’t mean he should’ve been really hostile to Firestar, but…
Okay, I’ll stop rambling before I start to change my mind on this one 😅
8. Stonefur was a perfect character
By perfect character, I do NOT mean I like him. He is just… perfect. We have never even seen Stonefur having any negative qualities. All we got from him was selfless, loyal, brave, compassionate, intelligent. Nothing negative. Now, obviously he’s not a Gary-Stu, considering he’s Half-Clan, but he’s probably the closest (next to Firestar) to one in the Warriors series. And once I realized this, I didn’t really care for Stonefur anymore.
9. I don’t ship Mothwing x Leafpool
I’m sorry. I can definitely see why people do, but I don’t, heh. I like their relationship and see them more as besties than anything. I’ve seen the pages where Leafpool calls Mothwing “pretty”, or they bond together really well. But no thanks for me! Cute, but not ship-cute!
10. Sparkpelt is an arrogant mouse-brain
I’m surprised why so few people think this. She’s basically a cat, except somebody just put Firestar’s pelt on her and then splashed Sandstorm’s personality. She feels… boring. She is unusually good and talented, and she is so arrogant it gets on my nerves. Also the fact that she thinks SkyClan should just leave the lake, as if those cats don’t matter. How would you feel in their paws, Sparkpelt? Angry that they think you’re not a Clan cat? Yea. That’s what I thought.
She doesn’t see from other perspectives and believes that she is right in pretty much everything.
The only thing I like about her is the fact that she really does care for her brother, which is nice 🙂
And speaking of SkyClan….
11. SkyClan is my least favorite Clan
Before I read Dawn of the Clans, WindClan was my favorite, and I think ShadowClan was my least favorite. Well, times have changed! My least favorite now is WindClan, and my favorite is ShadowClan! (RiverClan is second). Well, WindClan and SkyClan are tied. I just don’t really like SkyClan. Yea, I know, I’m being hypocritical to Sparkpelt. I’m just saying that I feel like SkyClan was a waste of space. I always liked them, they just felt… lackluster.
12. Gray Wing was quite boring
I’ve seen this opinion a bit more then Sparkpelt, but I have to agree with the the people who think Gray Wing is uninteresting.
Now, this does not mean at all that I’m saying he is not a good cat or a good character. He is both. He is an amazing, cinnamon bun tom who just wants to help his friends and family survive. He cared for kits who weren’t his own and had plenty of heroic acts I like him for.
He’s just… boring. A little more than a story-filler. He’s a good character. I just wish sometimes more interesting stuff happened in his chapters other than family or love drama.
13. Squirrelflight is too old to be leader
I mean, come on? Why don’t other people think this? She’s 12, almost 13! (As of A Starless Clan, Wind.) She should be in the StarClan-darn elder’s den! I get that Bramble and Squirrel are one of the last remaining “main” characters, but seriously. Her as a leader sounds amazing, but she’s just too old in my opinion, and she’ll be older then the immortal (*cough* now mortal *cough*) Mistystar.
That’s all I have for now! Tell me if you want a part two in the comments, or just share your thoughts on what I said! See if you agree!
Frostflight, out!
Pawsome article! I agree with most of these, but I disagree with:
-Bristlefrost being overrated. I mean, she did sacrifice herself, and I don’t even see that many people talking about her… I think she’s perfectly rated. Of course, that’s just my opinion.
-the Onestar thing. I have a completely biased opinion but still… I don’t like Onestar. At all. I have a whole article(unpublished yet) about why I don’t like him.
I agree with the rest of these! (As far as I remember. my memory is very, very, VERY scrappy.) Again, pawsome article! pls make part 2!!
Very strong opinions, but I agree with most! Excellently written and thought out ^^
1. I don’t like any of the Crow ships
2. Brokenstar is a good villain, I agree
3. I disagree. I really don’t like this ship.
4. I don’t care if people don’t think she had enough character development or if he ship with Rootspring is weird/taking up too much spotlight, Bristleforst is an amazing character that deserves the love she gets, and RootxBristle is probably the best ship to ever exist
5. Disagree
6. Agree – she took her grief and anger out on cats who didn’t deserve it
7. Disagree. I hate Onestar.
8. He’s not my favorite and not my least favorite, and I think he was a pretty good side character. . .
9. Me neither. They just seem like friends to me.
10. She was, up until ASC. I definitely didn’t like how she apologized to Nightheart about being an awful mother and giving him a very hard time while trying to figure out who he was, but she was okay afterwards.
11. I don’t mind them, but I will agree that they aren’t the most interesting Clan
12. Never read DotC
13. I don’t think she’s too old, I just don’t like her character and I think that she wouldn’t make the best leader
I mean.. that last reason IS true.. Cloudtail, Brackenfur, Brightheart and Brambleclaw are all elders and Squirrelflight was born sorta in between The Darkest hour and Midnight (being an apprentice in Midnight) So she IS younger than Brambleclaw by quite a few moons but still kinda old.
awesome article! :3 i really agree with a LOT of this. especially about the leaf and moth thing, gray wing, and sparkpelt!
NOOOOO NOT GRAY WING MY LIL BOYYYYYYYY 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Anyways great article! I really agree on the Sparkpelt and Mapleshade parts, and I don’t ship Moth x Leaf either. Oh and I dislike both Bristlefrost and her ship.
Great article! I definitely agree with Sparkpelt, but SkyClan is my fav 🙃
Great article! I agree with most of these EXCEPT, the bristlefrost one I love bristle, and I think she’s the best!! Other than that great job! Very well written.
I don’t like mothxleaf as well but I do really like bristlefrost and skyclan so…
Part #1
I also prefer LeafCrow over FeatherCrow. It seemed a bit rushed to me, but it was something that could’ve lasted. It was true love, as made evident in the later half of The New Prophecy. FeatherCrow, in the words of the authors themselves, was more like a ‘high school crush’.
I’ll have to disagree on calling Brokenstar a good villain solely because we have varying definitions of what a good villain is. I usually prefer to read about morally complex villains than ones who are made to pose as big of a threat as possible.
I also like SnowThistle, but I think Bluestar was right to warn Snowfur about Thistleclaw. They matched each other well and shared several interests, although Thistleclaw was not a good cat in the slightest. Bluestar was right to warn Snowfur about Thistleclaw and his dangerous personality. Thistleclaw was incredibly violent and wasn’t a great father to Whitestorm.
I think Bristlefrost did rapidly become obsessed with Rootspring with little development later in the arc, but I do like their ship because it was sweet. They complimented each other well and sacrificed everything for each other. I like both Bristlefrost and Rootspring and I think there are good reasons to, so I don’t consider them overrated.
I completely agree that Mapleshade belongs in the Dark Forest. I do not agree that Ravenwing and Frecklewish deserved to die. IMO, Ravenwing was completely innocent. He received an omen from StarClan and decided to tell his leader because that’s his job, and why would he receive an omen if not to tell his leader? Also, Mapleshade was acting delusional in assuming that the Clan would just accept her kits in time. Ravenwing probably knew that nothing good would come from not telling Oakstar about Mapleshade’s kits’ father. And Frecklewish acted a bit too aggressive towards a few kits for having Appledusk as a parent. But she was stressed, shocked, and angry. She should’ve controlled herself, but she doesn’t deserve to get murdered for being mad that she didn’t have any nephews or nieces after all. In fact, why does anyone try to justify Mapleshade’s murders at all? Murder is not acceptable in almost any circumstance, especially towards a cat who did his job and another that got angry that she was being lied to.
I dislike Onestar. He seemed pretty shallow to me in general. He only really cared about Smoke because he thought she was pretty. And he treated so many cats horribly because of his selfishness. He didn’t have to be openly hostile to Firestar just because their relationship became a bit strained. He didn’t have to abandon his old mate and kits- until his death, he was a coward. He didn’t have to keep so many secrets from Whitetail. I think he does belong in StarClan because he redeemed himself, but for a long time he was a selfish coward.
I think that Stonefur is in fact a Gary Stu. Why on earth does being half-Clan make him not a Gary Stu? That’s not a flaw, that simply a trait. In fact, one of the main morals of the series was that there is nothing wrong with being half-Clan, because half-Clan cats couldn’t help being half-Clan. I consider Stonefur to be the biggest Gary-Stu in the series, because he got a lot of page-time in Leopardstar’s Honor and never showed any resemblance of a flaw or imperfection, unless for some reason you count him being half-Clan as a flaw. I find him somewhat bland because of this.
Part #2
I don’t ship MothLeaf either; it is not an indicator of romantic attraction to notice that someone else is attractive. And in Mothwing’s Secret, not once did Mothwing think of Leafpool as anything more than a friend.
I agree about Sparkpelt; I don’t think she ever completely redeemed herself for her terrible treatment of Nightheart. And in A Vision of Shadows, she seemed like a bit of a xenophobic brat. I think that she’s a lot better now, presumably matured by Nightheart’s journey and having kits, but I don’t think she’s perfect yet.
I think SkyClan brought a lot to the story; I don’t consider them a waste of space.
I disagree about Gray Wing being boring. If you don’t like reading about relationship drama, that’s your opinion, but he did have a lot of character development and had many complex relationships with many cats. His relationships with Skystar, Thunderstar, Shadowstar, Bright Stream, Turtle Tail, Slate, and Riverstar in particular were very interesting. Also, he did have a lot of drama outside of that. In Path Of Stars, he had to save his son, Black Ear, from capture, and died one of the saddest deaths in the series. He suffered from asthma for most of the series and helped fight Slash (and killed One Eye). I think Gray Wing is one of the best characters in the series. He had a lot of drama over the course of DotC, both emotional and physical drama.
I also wouldn’t call Gray Wing a cinnamon bun. He was somewhat grumpy in later books of Dawn of the Clans, and helped kill One Eye.
I disagree that Squirrelstar is too told to be leader. She’s still active for her age, and will be a great leader for ThunderClan. She is still healthy (mentally and physically) enough to be leader, IMO.
Great article!
Great Opinions! I can totally understand your points ^^
I do disagree on some of yours, but as we’ve both learned, obviously we each have our own and shouldn’t try to change them. 😀
I also made this four months ago so of course some of my own opinions have changed (like Gray Wing for instance- Im neutral on him) XD
And thanks! ^^
Yw! Great article!
I agree with the bristelfrost one she is overrated and she came back in Ivypool’s Heart for like one sentence but I know she just turned into another Spottedleaf and it makes me want to bash her over the head with something.
Stonefur is another one I wanted to point out, I like him, and I know he’s just this perfect little loyal side character aside from being Half-Clan but I really want to know more about him ^^
I agree with you on 1,9 and 10.
