Which mate is better, part 2: Leafpool or Feathertail by Mistpaw

Mistpaw compares Leafpool and Feathertail as mates for Crowfeather.

Hi y’all, it’s Misty back with her fourth article, and part two of my “Which mate is better?” series! Today I will be talking about the two mates to our buddy Crowfeather, Leafpool and Feathertail (I’m not talking about Nightcloud because he didn’t even love her).
Since I have a pretty unpopular opinion on this ship, for starters I’m saying that I have no hate for the people that disagree with me, this is just my opinion, (but I might insist that you are crazy JOKINGLY!). Now, lets get into it!

I personally think that Crowfeather x Feathertail is a better ship than Crowfeather x Leafpool. It makes way more sense. Let’s take a look at both of these relationships and I’ll explain why this is true. Crowfeather (Crowpaw then) and Feathertail met during the first meeting of the prophecy cats, and he was an angry, grumpy, difficult apprentice, that no one liked (except Feathertail). When the cats are deciding if they should go on the journey, Crowpaw says no, but Feathertail convinces him to go. This is, in my opinion, the start of their relationship. No one on the journey liked Crowpaw, except for Feathertail, who saw the good side in him and gave him a chance. They then become friends, and do lots together. Feathertail teaches Crowpaw how to fish, the two go hunting together, and spend time alone together. Feathertail defends Crowpaw to the other cats on the journey, and Crowpaw is actually kind to Feathertail. And, Crowpaw is devastated when Feathertail dies, and even asks to get NAMED after her. Now lets look at Crowfeather and Leafpool. They first interact with each other during the great journey, where there’s the great jump that Crowfeather is helping cats across. When he see’s how scared Leafpool (Leafpaw then) is, he tells her, “It’s okay,” “It’s not as hard as it looks.” and Leafpaw tries to think of the “warmth” of his fur when jumping. Then later, in Leafpool’s perspective, it says that she wanted to know him better, as he was the hardest to understand. After the great journey, Crowfeather and Leafpool don’t just forget about each other like the other cats. They remember each other. Then, Crowfeather saves Leafpool from falling off a cliff, and admits his feelings to her. Flash forward, and the two decide to run away together. (I’m not gonna talk about the kits blah blah blah cuz that’s not the main reason I have my opinion). I just think that Crowfeather x Leafpool makes no sense. While they had their one interaction during the great journey, they barley got to know each other, so I don’t get how they developed feelings for each other. They pretty much talk to each other like twice, and then when Leafpool and Crowfeather go back to their own clans, they keep thinking about each other. Like, why are you two thinking about each other?!! You guys talked ONCE. Also, Leafpool is a medicine cat, and from a different clan. I know Feathertail is from a different clan, but at least she’s not a medicine cat. Crowfeather and Leafpool’s love is extra forbidden. While Crowfeather and Leafpool’s relationship doesn’t make sense, Crowfeather and Feathertail’s do! They actually spent a lot of time together, and Feathertail was one of the only cats who was nice to him, and one of the only cats he was nice to. They had time to let their emotions grow, and became a realistic relationship, whereas Crowfeather x Leafpool is just a rushed relationship that doesn’t make much sense.
So the answer to this article’s question is: Feathertail. Feathertail is the better mate for Crowfeather.
