Warrior Names Translated in Hebrew by Mistpaw

Hi y’all, it’s Misty, back again with her fifth article! Today I will be talking about warrior names translated in Hebrew. For those of you who don’t know, I speak Hebrew (as I am Jewish), and I read some of the books in Hebrew, and the name translations were interesting (that’s the word I will use), so I’ve decided to share them!

Number 1: Hollyleaf
So, Hollyleaf is translated into Hollylife (I cant type in Hebrew on my computer, so I’m just gonna give you the Hebrew version in English), which isn’t terrible, but kinda funny. They got the prefix right, but c’mon, ‘life’? Why life, when they’re is a Hebrew word for leaf? It’s probably because the Hebrew word for leaf also means ear (why is it like that IDK, ask the creaters of Hebrew), and Hollyear sounds kinda weird? At least, that’s my assumption

Number 2: Lionblaze
So, Lionblaze in Hebrew is translated into Lionflame, which I’d say is pretty good. They got the prefix right, and even though they got the suffix wrong, flame is pretty close to blaze, so I’m giving them credit. It’s better than Hollylife, and some of the others we have next

Number 3: Jayfeather (yeah I’m doing the three cuz why not)
Jayfeather in Hebrew is Bluebird 😞. I was kinda speechless when I saw this. Why, authors, why?? Jayfeather sounds nothing like BLUEBIRD!! I guess since a jay is a blue bird, they just used that, but what happened to his suffix? Also, a bluebird is already an animal! So why bluebird? I just don’t get it. Authors, you let me down on this one *sigh*,

Number 4: Silverstream
So, Silverstream translates to Silverriver. Honestly, this is my favorite one. I just love how it rhymes (also the double r looks cool in the name). I’m pretty sure this is because there’s no Hebrew word for stream, so they used river as a substitute. River is pretty close to stream, so as far as similarity goes, they did pretty good. I just love the name Silverriver, so I put this one in.

Number 5: Firestar (and all of the other leaders)
Firestar translates to Firelight (the star suffix is translated into light for the other leaders aswell), with all of the other leaders, but I find this especially funny because we have a person on the blog named Firelight (maybe the Hebrew author did it for you, Firelight/j). The word light in Hebrew kind of covers anything that brings light, so the word lamp, star, and other words that are related to light are all the same word, which means light. So all of the leaders’ suffixes are light in the book too.
