Firekit: Hello, BlogClanners! Today Maplepaw and I will be talking about why Moonflower’s death was not justified!
Maplepaw: Let’s begin on what led up to the battle of Moonflower’s death.
Firekit: It all started when Snowfur (Snowpaw then) brought back a vole and Goosefeather, the ThunderClan medicine cat at the time, saw it and said the way the vole’s fur was parted meant it was an omen; to attack WindClan and destroy their herb stores.
Maplepaw: This part, I do blame Goosefeather for, as he was the one who sent ThunderClan to battle, leading to Moonflower’s death. It was a weird omen, and one that didn’t really mean anything, and caused an unnecessary death.
Firekit: Moonflower was murdered by Hawkheart, the WindClan medicine cat. When she was destroying WindClan’s herb stores, Hawkheart found her and killed her. It was a completely unnecessary action, and Hawkheart was a bloodthirsty medicine cat.
Maplepaw: But it was because he was a warrior before—but that doesn’t change anything! Even warriors are not supposed to kill unless it is self-defense. He also didn’t take into account that Moonflower didn’t even know why she was destroying herbs, and that she was just doing it because she thought it was for the good of her Clan.
Firekit: Goosefeather’s omen was a guess, in my opinion. He was just trying to please his Clan so he made up an omen to attempt to bring ThunderClan victory.
Maplepaw: It has been a long time since I have read Bluestar’s Prophecy, but it may not have been a guess. Goosefeather was known to be a crazy medicine cat that was cursed by StarClan. I’m guessing this would just be because he wasn’t exactly mentally healthy, and it was partly his fault that Moonflower died.
Firekit: I agree that Goosefeather had a mental illness and it was partly his fault that Moonflower died. He wanted his Clan to think he would still be a useful medicine cat, because it was hard to deny that he wasn’t well and it would have been better for him to become an elder.
Maplepaw: That is partially correct, but I do believe that for the most part, it was probably Hawkheat’s fault, as he really didn’t have a reason to kill. Driving ThunderClan away would’ve been victory enough.
Firekit: The thing that blows my mind is how crazy Goosefeather is and how wise and skilled his apprentice, Featherwhisker, is.
Maplepaw: This just sparked something; why didn’t Goosefeather ask Featherwhisker to double-check, because even he knew that he had a curse from StarClan, and that he wasn’t exactly mentally okay. Wouldn’t this have stopped an unnecessary battle?
Firekit: I agree. Goosefeather should’ve been responsible of his mental health and asked another medicine cat to check him out and see if he should still carry out his Clan duties.
Maplepaw: Yes, but because this article isn’t about Goosefeather, but about Moonflower, we should talk about why she was killed and not (who was the other cat destroying the herbs?). What was Hawkheart’s true reasons? Was he just a bloodthirsty cat?
Firekit: I think Hawkheart didn’t have any true reasons…he was just a bloodthirsty cat. From the moment he entered the story, I knew he would be trouble. So the Erins must’ve thought he would be the right cat to kill Moonflower.
Maplepaw: Agreed. So was Moonflower’s death justified?
Firekit: No, it was not. Since Hawkheart had no real reasons, Moonflower’s death was completely unnecessary and just a bloodthirsty action from a bloodthirsty cat.
Maplepaw: I agree. Thanks for reading everyone!
Great article!!
great article! I agree 100%
Great job! I absolutely hate Goosefeather 😛
Great article! I think the part that most people forget is that Goosefeather is Moonflower’s brother, which is kind of heartbreaking tbh.
Also I believe Hawkheart was just trying to defend his herb stores. Imagine if you saw a cat trying to destroy your herbs, and after the battle, you would have had nothing to take care of your clan, and they would all die. Moonflower was just blindly following orders, which is a mistake on her part, and Hawkheart got a little too violent.
Not saying that Hawkheart is justified, I think it just gives more of a reason that “he was bloodthirsty”
In the scene of Moonflower’s death, he (Hawkheart) also intimidated, threatened, and nearly wounded Bluepaw (who was extremely recently apprenticed!) as she was trying to mourn for her mother though, soo… I feel like “a little too violent” doesn’t cut it, he was explicitly depicted as enjoying killing other cats :PP
Great article! I completely agree!
Good Article! ^^
I agree, Hawkheart’s action of killing Moonflower is not justified in the slightest. there was no reason to kill her; driving her out? Yup, makes sense. But actually killing her? Horrible. The book also states that Hawkheart COULD HAVE driven Moonflower away, as he ran Moon out of the den, but he stopped her and just brutally killed her. And then he TAUNTS Bluepaw about It at the next gathering. He’s absolutely vile.
Great article! I hate hawkheart, and I’m neutral on goosefeather.
Cool article! I disagree on some things tho. I don’t think Hawkheart was “bloodthirsty”. He was angry, which I can totally understand; ThunderClan tried to destroy their herb store for no clear reason, which isn’t justifiable at all. I agree that he did the wrong thing tho, he totally shouldn’t have killed her, but I don’t think he was bloodthirsty or evil.
great article! I agree that hawkheart wasn’t justified, even though there was a bit more reason than just “he was bloodthirsty” 😛
Great article!
I hate Hawkheart!
Great article! I agree except that Goosefeather had harmful intentions
It’s strange here because I think Goosefeather and Hawkheart had a rather close relationship (I forgot in which SE, Hawkheart teased him of being confused) So could there be a possibility that they plotted Moonflower’s death together (no, I don’t believe they are evil), because Goosefeather had seen sth even worse and tried to avoid it, or it is totally inevitable as Goosefeather was cursed?
Great article! I totally agree!
