Monthly Gatherings And What’s Wrong With Them by Rosefern

Hey this is Rosefern and welcome to another article! Here I will be talking about gatherings and some possible downsides to them.
What’s the point of making friends with someone who you might fight?
I know at some gatherings when all is peaceful and know Clan is holding some silly grudge against another, cats mingle with other Clans and chat like they’re old friends. Bluestar and Crookedstar met at a gathering when they were apprentices. But then they had to fight because of all the Sunning Rocks drama. I wouldn’t want to make friends in other clans if I might have to fight them later on, I just couldn’t do it, and I don’t see the point because friends don’t do that, friends would be able to decide that some rock wasn’t going to get in the way of their friendship. Plus there are a lot of cats in every Clan especially ThunderClan so you must be able to have enough friends there and if you can’t if you really feel like you want to be with another Clan then go and switch Clans. Once Berryheart has been defeated, of course.
Also I feel like Gatherings are just tense in general especially these days.
This is a gathering. Any cat who doesn’t want to seem weak and isn’t Leopardstar even if they were like starving, they just be like “Oh the prey is running well in RiverClan *dies*” because they don’t want to seem weak and to have their weakness used against them. If you’re going to have a gathering in peace you should be able to tell one another things but you can’t if your constantly worried about your Clan’s inevitable weakness. Plus this makes most gatherings pretty boring unless a fight breaks out (Which is pretty often these days) and I don’t like boring, except studies do show it helps boost creativity. It must be working, I’m writing this, aren’t I?
One good thing about monthly (or moonly) gatherings is that it’s something normal amid the chaos, except like I keep saying, it’s not normal anymore because there’s always all this drama and it’s not what it used to be.
Both of these things if you try to fix them you get less loyal to your own Clan, and this is why I think it’s a bad idea to have gatherings every full moon. They should be reserved for emergencies like the one in the last Hope.
