  • Today is the day of the kittypet Trial! Yeah! Trial-goers go find a kittypet and beat it! But try not to kill it, the Twolegs get mad. Duchesses can do last minute checkups with their kits, and soldiers can watch from a distance if they’d like. If not, you’ve got work to do! Chop chop!
(I’ll start the Trial a bit later, so for now chill and make friends! Or yell at people. Cats in the Ozoma do that a lot.)

  • Moonlight paced back and forth, mumbling to herself as she watched the Trial-Goers.
“It’s first trial, huh?” She paused, a small smile spreading on her face. “That’s when we met, wasn’t it, Claw?”

  • Chatter gave the Trial-Goers a malicious grin as she watched from where she and the other Duchesses sat.

Cove stood on the top of a tall building, peering down at the sprawling city around him. He knew that the Trial started today, but he didn’t care. He was already a Soldier, he didn’t need to worry himself with the Trials anymore.

  • King leapt onto a pile of junk, raising his tail to signal cats to him. As he opened his mouth to begin the First Trial, two soldiers raced into camp. They were dragging something behind them, a small black lump. They shoved it forward, and two battered kits gazed up in fear at the cats.

    • Chatter perked up, somewhat intrigued. What were the soldiers doing with a couple of kits? She glanced around to see if her son Cove saw them too, but quickly realized that he wasn’t there. She sighed, annoyed. Did he not understand the importance of the Trials? Yes, he’d already completed them, but it’s tradition to watch. Well, he’d told her that morning that he found the Trials boring and probably wasn’t going to attend. She wondered where he was now, and if he knew where the kits could’ve come from.

      • Moonlight’s mouth dropped, and she hissed in terror.
“What have you done?” The two soldiers smirked and rolled their eyes.
“We took these kits.” Crow said and Bat nodded. “We haven’t had a lot of Trail-Goers recently, so here.” He shoved the kits forward, earning small mewls of terror.

        • Chatter blinked at the kits. “Where did you find them?” She wondered. The Ozoma were the only ones who lived in the city aside from kittypets, but these kits didn’t look like kittypets… In fact, she recognized their scent. From a tom she once knew… Then it hit her. These kits were from CoastClan.

Cove, hiding in the shadows of an alleyway, realized it the moment his mother did. These kits had the same scent his father had. The scent of the beach and water, of a CoastClan warrior. He narrowed his eyes. Why had the soldiers stolen kits from CoastClan? Were they trying to start a war?

          • “You need to take them back, right now!” Moonlight hissed, her eyes wide. She turned to the other Duchesses, hoping someone would agree with her.

            • Chatter’s tail twitched. “I agree. We need more Trial-Goers, but the last thing we need is to start a war with CoastClan.”

Cove flattened his ears, remaining in the shadows. His mother had a point, but was anyone going to listen, or were they going to think she was being sentimental instead of logical?

There names are Foxkit and Robinkit I was there when they were born…back when I lived in Costclan |:|The trial goer raised her voice so that it could be herd by everyone|:|

  • King looked down at Crow and Bat. They had a point…
“Bat, Crow,” King paused, jumping down to the toms. “I’m sure we’d all like to ask you some questions.” The two toms gulped, shying away from the white tom’s red gaze, but nodded anyway.
(You have been, but ask more questions about the kits!)
